Dime-Quarter size amount of any product does not EXIST in my hair care land. :nono:
I try to make sure each strand is completely saturated with product without going over board. :yep:

it depends on the product and the look you are trying to achieve.

i will use like a handful of conditioner when i do a DC. but when i apply my leave in before i start setting, i use a quarter sized amount.

Since switching to creamier leave ins I can get away with using a quarter size amount. For DC'ing I have to use dollops to handfuls.

I'm glad I'm not the only heavy handed product user! I dont understand how anyone could get by on a dime sized amount...cuz i sure cant! I dont even have that much hair IMO! Serums are the only thing I make sure to use sparingly cuz those spread easily

I am extremely heavy handed for any type of conditioner that I will eventually rinse out (i.e deep conditioners, even aphoghee two step).

I minimize the amount of shampoo because I don't want to strip the hair. I also minimize the amounts of leave in conditioners and leave in moisturizers because my hair gets weighed down easily. I hate the greasy, dry and/or stiff feeling.

My hair is too thick for a dime full of con. I need at least a dollop on each side. Sometimes handfuls. I use a dollop for LI and oils too.

I just can't get with the dime/quarter stuff.

When I do my own hair, I part it in eight sections. Then I measure the shampoo with a two ounce scoop. This saturates my hair, but it doesn't over do it or waste it. If there is shampoo left in the scoop, I add more for the second wash. I can get by with one ounce instead of two if I add more water to my hair while washing. My hair products are very thick and concentrated, so I don't need to add more than a two ounce scoop of shampoo for each wash.

Then I do the same thing for my deep conditioner. I put two ounces of conditioner in the scoop. This is enough to saturate my hair. After I rinse the conditioner out, I apply a quarter amount of hair oil to each braided section. Then I spray my detangler three or four times. That's it.

Ha! My fine strands are greedy and thirsty... It literally takes 12-16 oz of product every time I deep condition.

Shampoo: I use a very small amount of shampoo on my hair. I usually dilute a quarter-sized amount to 20-30 ounces of water before applying it to my head/scalp.

Conditioner: I usually apply a half dollar amount of conditioner to each section of my hair (four sections). I guess those half-dollars add up. My hair is thick so I know my hair won't be saturated if I just apply conditioner all over my head without sectioning.

Leave-in conditioner: I apply a dime-sized amount to each section (four sections).
Serum: a dime size for my whole head is usually too much. I only need 3-4 drops.

It depends on what product I'm using. For shampoo I use a little more than the size of a quarter, but for DC I use at least a hand full or two. I want to be sure every strand is saturated, but I make sure I rinse completely. For leave-ins and moisturizer a dime sized amount is usually enough.

whenever I see someone say that they use a dime size quantity of anything esp conditioner/detangler/leave-in, I'm like . my hair is SL and my hair would laugh at that amount and say 'what about the rest of us???!!' even a quarter size is not enough. are there more people like me to use dollops to hand full amount of conditioner/leave-in products on my hair? .....or, maybe little to no product is the key.....

Uh yeah. I need ALOT.

I use a good hand full....Im so heavy handed...But my hair needs it because it so thick and course....I really depends on thickness and texture...A person with finer , thinner hair would use less product so that their hair doesnt get weighed down or limp

I use anywhere from a dollop to a few handfuls depending on what im using. My hair is so thick that a dime or quarter size amount is only enough for a small section of my hair.

Well for me it depends...

Shampoo --Dime Sized (then I dilute that with water)
Conditioner(for DC)--3 handfulls (or more) (Since I rinse it out and want every strand coated for optimum conditioning) :yep:
Leave in -- Quarter size (My hair is fine)

I say whatever works for you...
Im heavy handed with products but I know now my fine hair can't stand too much leave in, it just gets goopy and mushy. :nono:

conditioner: handful
leave in: dime to quarter size depending on how thick it is
moisturizer: quarter size

thanks everyone for your comments!!! I go by feel totally and I con't adding more until it feels right esp with conditioners and sometimes leave-ins. it ends up being several dollops to handfulls. thought lately I've been using regular conditioners as leave-ins.....

Per Section:

dime - silicone based serums, butter
quarter - shampoo, leave-in conditioner, heat protectant
dollop - conditioner

25 cents shampoo; 50 cents conditioner; 25 cents leave in. I learned watching macherieamour that i don't need to pile on the whole bottle to get the full effects of the products. i use rich, creamy, good stuff - it does the job.
Yep, after watching her dvd and seeing how little product she uses on that long, beautiful hair, I knew I was being ridiculously heavy-handed. For shampoo, I use a few squirts. When I dc, I part my hair in 4 sections and apply a quarter size amount to each section. For my leave in, I part my hair in two sections and apply about a dime size amount to each section
