Did Your Goal Sneak Up On You?

Cause I think mine just did. I'm not going to post pics until my touch up which is in 6 or 7 weeks, but I think I'm going to be past the point of APL by then! :yay:

It's funny because just Monday I'm like 'oh I can't wait till I'm APL, I hope and pray I'm APL by my touch-up' and I take a mirror to the back yesterday and I'll be darned.. I'm 7 weeks post and I did'nt think I'd really see a difference from my avi so soon. I was beginning to think I should be 'realistic' and shoot for December for my APL goal but that BSL goal is starting to look alot more possible than I thought.

Just wanted to share with you ladies. Have you ever woke up in the morning to discover you've acheived what you were striving for, when just the day before it seemed so far away?

Yes. APL slipped up on me. i didn't know til I got a relaxer. It's the watched pot theory. Just be consistent and you will reach your goal sooner or later. After I started stretching it's always like a surpise and I don't obsess( as much:lol: ) because I can't see the true length.

APL snuck up on me too...or I was in denial, not sure. I think b/c it took so long I just ignored it and wouldn't really wear my hair straight.

Well, I had braids and really didn't have a goal but when I finally straightened my hair to see how long it was, I was very happy! So, like I've always said, "Time is going to pass anyway, why not take care of your hair in the process."

I'm going to make that quote my siggy.

The consistency has definately been helping with the overall condition and helping me retain, this is finally a challenge I'm seeing results from. And the stretching is great as well, I love being shocked, not just seeing that my roots are smooth. I can, but I can't wait until I reach my touch-up date.

APL ran up on me last year. I was a billion months post and just got a maxiglide. I was testing the thing out and there it was.

It ain't sneaking up this year... it's taking its own sweet time.:(
ETA: Congrats on reaching APL :dance7:

I am hoping this will be my experience in September. Right now I have braid extensions. I intend to keep them in for 3 months (getting some rows re-done from time to time) and have a touch-up done around mid-september. By that time, I will be almost 5 months post relaxer. That would be the longest I have stretched. I hope I can hold off that long.

I def agree that I will love the stretching not during the time I am doing it but just to see all the hard work after while. It's like a big fantastic suprise. I am 3c/4a. How long do you stretch?:)

13 weeks. This will be my first time stretching without the help of braids or weaves so I'll be utilizing twists/braid outs for the 3 or 4 weeks leading up to it, it'll hide my length and make the difference alot more noticeable when I wear it out again.

I hope it does. I can see I'm getting closer to my ideal length and fullness.

Hey I just saw your fotki. Our length is damn near identical and so is our goal for BSL this December. I hope to see you there!:)

Thanks! But my Avi is from April, I might just cheat and take an update pic this weekend instead of waiting for my touch-up.

yup sure did. I was doing my twists and all of a sudden I thought i was done twirlign that twist...nope still going. It was APL. Go hair!

Congrats on making apl! I think that shoulder length with my hair curly might have snuck up on me. I thought I wasn't but I was looking at some pictures I took a few weeks ago and I was like, Wait a minute? We'll see if it's true when I'm done with hth challenge

Yes. This last relaxer put me about and inch past APL. I was totally shocked because I had so much shrinkage from the 12 week stretch plus the texlaxed hair. I ran into the room showing my husband how long it had gotten.

APL snuck up on me too. I was hoping to make it by July 31st my 1 year mark, I have had to re-eval. Now I hope I am close to BSL because I am past APL

I'm hoping soo!!

So I ended up taking pics this morning and updating my avi. This was the first time i took a shirt off pic and seeing where my brastrap is, I think I might make that goal by the end of this year, I'm a shorty so that's looking like 3 to 4 inches. I'm so excited. :yay: My new growth is sorta on the verge of getting out of control and in another week or two I'm gonna be in braidouts consistently until my touch up so I'm enjoying wearing it straight as long as I can.

Thanks! And yes it is! Your hair looks great also! I see alot of us that could be reaching that BSL mark at the end of this year!

OMG! I feel the same way and I didn't realize I can reach my goals. I started my "Fotki" in Febuary w/ all the tips and baggying, etc. and I figured: come Feb 08 (1 yr anni) i'll be a APL and the next BSL. I'm in the shower combing thru my hair and I pull my hand up from behind me and I swiped past my hair: i'm like:eek: "could it be". I get out and I have my lil sis pull my hair down and see where my hair stops: she said 1inch or so above APL: thats not including that my new growth was completely straight and the 1/2-1in of new growth from July. I'm thinkin its possible to reach APL by July (touch up) and I said if I'm at APL July....thats about 3inches give or take to Bra Strap..OOOh OOOh OOOh....July-December (6mnths * 1/2in per month = 3 inches) I could be a BSL by January 1 2008. Girl don't u kno I joined the ~~~Pop Your Bra Strap Ladies 2007~~~ I've been posting mad crazy on their cuz I'm so overwhelmed about wat I can possibly achieve: If u would have said my hair could be down to my bra stap in January: I would have said (:lachen: ).... I can't type no more I think i'm hypervenalating from too much excitement.....

Lol!! That exactly how I felt when i looked in the mirror and saw where my hair was. I need to join that Pop Your Brastrap 2007 Challenge..because before last week it was all a dream, I was thinking more than likely it would be mid-2008 but not anymore, sans any setbacks I should be at least grazing my brastrap in Dec. It trips me out how this site has truly helped make a difference in my hair in such a short amount of time. All these years believing myths and all it took was applying alot of care and knowledge to breakthrough self-imposed hair length limits.

It feels great: this site & ppls albums helped me out to. I think I owe my progress to baggying: I baggied for a month (1/2inch) and besides shedding: since my hair was wrapped up in moisture: unable to be combed/brushed/manipulated in anyway: there was no need for any of my ends to break off: so I kept that whole months' progress: thats how it snuck up on me cuz I never put that into consideration: thats how DarkemPress achieved so much growth every month: Jan (neck length) Now (approaching APL) cuz she baggies her whole head daily so she doesn't have to worry about any breakage: and its clear that baggying for me is an Ultimate Keeper for Life
