Okay y'all i'm up a serious creek right now. I work in a production environment doing data entry and there are 2 other women on the team i work with. We always come in on the weekends (which are the 2 days we work) looking like who did it and left it like that /images/graemlins/crazy.gif Sooooo i said, "y'all we have to stop this madness with our hair, let's all come in with our hair at least styled next weekend." Now everyone thought this was a great idea since we are the "no styling our hair divas" /images/graemlins/rofl.gif

The problem is i have NO CLUE how to style my hair or what style would look good on me. I would be styling my own hair and wanted to find out if anyone has ANY styles that can be done by a novice stylist like myself and still look nice. I know next time i wont be such the trailblazer .. any help is very welcome. Thanks a bunch y'all -- jainygirl

You can try bantu knots. It is real easy to do. Once you are ready to go to work. Take them out and spray some oil sheen/glosser and you are good to go.

You nut!! /images/graemlins/tongue.gif Just throw some rollers in it the night before and slap a headband on it, or just do a side part, or something easy like that!!

No sweat!! There are sooo many things you can do with that long hair of yours!! /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Maybe you can try pin curls. Southerngirl has a great step by step for them in her album. Or you can use something like mango butter on your dry hair then roll it up overnight. You should have pretty curls once the rollers are removed. Let me know if you need some help. My "kitchen" is open hairbuddy. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Why not do the bantu set like southerngirl does or are you looking for something more? Meaning something that would take more time to do. What about rollersetting your hair?

I love bantu knots but if your not sure how to do it, it can potentially be a disaster (I know from many experiences) How about some flexirods?

You should part in from ear to ear and then push wave the front, braid one side, and then flat iron the rest....

You know...a "salon" style! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Wow, thanks y'all. These are all great ideas. I think what i'm gonna do is spend each day this week trying out a style then choose the one that i screw up the least to do again and wear to work on Saturday. I've never rollerset my hair so that's a challenge i guess i'll undertake this week. I have the red hard rollers but i've never used them. I have to get some clips to go with them, anyone know which clips are the best?

Hey Kit /images/graemlins/wave.gif Thanks for the offer /images/graemlins/wink.gif hopefully i can work out some "kitchen_tician" magic of my own /images/graemlins/rofl.gif. Girl light a candle for me with the goddess of home styling and hope she helps my hands create something cute.

I'ma get you Tracy /images/graemlins/rofl.gif It's so funny you say that though..one of the women at work overheard me talking about this and said, "if YOU come to work with your hair styled, i'll come with my hair in 2 different styles at the same time because you NEVER do anything to your hair." /images/graemlins/look.gif /images/graemlins/rofl.gif

jainy if you are not opposed to using heat (this one time) you can use a crimper-the black/gold -(the S-shaped one)

use some keracare silken seal and keracare leave-in for protection.

oh, btw, to make the style last you can sleep in a large satin bonnet.

I've become daunted by the entire prospect /images/graemlins/crazy.gif. But I'm gonna do a shampoo, condition and blowdry on Friday morning. Then set my hair with my Caruso's. After setting it with the caruso's i'm gonna seperate each curl into 2 and go over those curls with my curling iron curling down(like drop curls sorta. I'm gonna do a side part and just wear it down; i'll tuck the hair on the side with the part behind my ear. I'm gonna sleep with a satin bonnet Friday night, then keep the look fresh by going over the curls Saturday morning that may need a little "tidying up".

As you can prolly tell i'm falling back on a few old habits to do this look. I never use my curling iron so i'm not feeling too broken up about it though /images/graemlins/rofl.gif wish me luck and i'll post pics on Friday after i finish playing around. /images/graemlins/wink.gif -- jainygirl
