Crown and Glory 2023!

Y'all, I have been SLIPPING!
I've been in the same braided pigtails that I put in the day I took my mini braids down, Nov 4th. I'm so tired but I know I need to get my butt up and do something. I'm likely gonna switch into cornrows since the cold weather is coming.
You are not alone...I am here with you:band:

I've been in this same top bun for it seems like forever. I'm just too tired. I haven't even covered my head at night lol but I have been laying on a satin pillowcase.

I washed with liquid black soap and DC'd with my Vatika Henna, Honey and Egg condish. And then I blow dried and installed 5 cornrows. I'm not doing any more than that bc I'm too tired right now. I oiled my scalp with a scalp tonic and my cornrow tails are in a bun, baggied. It's all under a satin mens skull cap and satin scarf or cotton bandana.

Instead of blow drying every two weeks, I think I'm just gonna blow dry every 4-6 weeks or so. It's hard to go from fingers only to blow drying biweekly. It feels like too much manipulation. So I'll just refresh these braids as necessary.

I can’t wait to see how this crochet hair looks when it arrives.

I saw an influencer with the black hair color and hers looked soooo good. Hopefully what i bought is what she used.

@Bette Davis Eyes

IA that the color definitely helps! And, don't shoot me, but I like that it's not as big and dramatic as the example you posted. I love the video and dramatic hair for special occasions or events. But for everyday wear, I prefer a thinner install. To me, it looks more realistic when it's not so thick. BUT if you're accustomed to big hair then I can see how it might be a shock.

Before seeing the pic, I came in ready to suggest maybe trying a half up half down style. But I wonder if simply doing a more exaggerated side part will help. When I used to do braidouts on my hair, I had to do an exaggerated side part in order for it not to look so flat. And you know it'll probably get more tangled and not last as long if you separate the hair.

It’s grown on me. I can move the part and put it up.

The video posted that natural has a ton of hair and she used a lot of packs. I only used the 8 packs in the bundle.

It wasn’t the size or fullness that bothered me. I cut the bang a little too short in the front but now it’s okay. It’s going to expand and fluff out over time if I unravel some of the twists.

Next time I may try the black color.

You know what, bc of the ombre effect I didn't even notice that your bangs were cut short! lol
It really didn't stand out to me at all.

I hope you can keep them in for a while bc it seems like such a nice, hands-off style!

I see you, Ms. Progress!!

When was the first one taken, with your hair partially up?

Regarding Ayurveda:
C'mon back to the dark side, sis! :angeldevil:

My hair thrives with the powders. I don't do pastes though, it's too time consuming for me. I stick to oils, glosses and teas. Even using the powders diluted like that has been so good for my hair.

I use them for just about every step of my regi - scalp oil, hair oil, cleanser, conditioner, leave in. lol
I bought a Vatika DC so that I can use it for my DCing but it doesn't seem Ayurveda enough even though it says there's Henna in the conditioner. So I might add some powders to the DC to increase the Ayurveda and see how I like it. I used to just add powders to cholesterol condish and DC like that. I might go back to it if this experiment doesn't work out.
The only time I don't use any Ayurveda is if I'm going to use direct heat on my hair (blow dry or flat iron).

I’ve just become such a minimalist with my hair. I use a spritz daily and maybe if it’s in my line of sight an oil. I love Ayurveda though. It’s always been BAE

When I semi retire im going back to it. Now that I’m in the office every day and up to an hour commute my hair is the last thing I wanna have to worry about.

That first picture was May I think @MzSwift

I’m thinking about getting me some kinky straight clips for a braidout look maybe in Feb/March.

I ordered a bundle of kinky straight clip ins today. When I take my hair down on the 20th I’m going to play around with how it looks. I don’t anticipate wearing them until February or March depending on how it looks. I want to be able to install them and then do a braidout look.

I’m at work staring at my edges. They feel like they are sprouting. I don’t know if I’m imagining it or what. I think I will take a picture and then compare it in a few weeks to another picture.
