Close Yo Legs (Tony Gaskins)

Ugh. I hate how country he sounds.

TBH, I'm tired of men telling women how to conduct their sex lives while indirectly giving men a pass to manipulate, play games, and sleep around without consequence. It's rather boring.

And part two was extra silly. "Women, if you do XYZ then it forces men to do right!" No it doesn't. A corrupt man is a corrupt man and nothing can change his nasty behind but himself. Period.

I don't think he gave men a free pass at all....he spoke about the way society's current behaviors affect men and women. Further he encourages women to be self-protective so they can avoid the heartache that comes from getting hurt by "grown boys" as he calls corrupt men. I actually think it's great how he's telling women how to be powerful instead of being the victim.

.......as he says if a man won't step up and be a man then let him go.

I do think he should make a video addressing men specifically, but since these videos were aimed at women, I think he focused on advising women.

Well he's right. All I got to say. It's not about the men. It's about we as women are doing. Stop letting men smash and watch your results change. This dude is saying nothing new other than what Dedan Tolbert says every freaking night. I have respect for what he is saying because it's true.

ITA...with your whole post!

I'm only on video 1 so far but I agree. I'll come back and update this if it changes when I finish the videos but at this point I agree 100%. I completely understand being sick of men telling us how to conduct ourselves. I get it. But I think some women need to hear this. To each their own. Some women do not feel this way and they are fine; their relationships are fine. But I have learned that a lot of young women seriously, sincerely, honestly believe that the way to get a man is to "put it on em" (Lawd. I sound like TXCutie. I'm channeling Rasheeda's song here).

Anyway, a lot of women think that and if they are fine with it, that's fine. But I know some girls that are hurting and wondering why they give themselves away like they think that is what "works" and then nothing comes of it. I think it's helpful to hear a man's point of view when it comes to this. And if women choose to ignore or disagree because of their own experiences then that's fine. Everyone isn't going to wait and not every woman is going to get played because she doesn't, but like another poster said, I think this is good advice to guard your heart. On the other hand, I know there are women who think sex leads to a man's heart. Maybe they just haven't been offered another opinion from a male perspective.

Now I do think the phrase "keep your legs closed" is unnecessarily inflammatory--probably intentionally by Tony gaskins to get you to watch the vid....although it would make it difficult for someone who found the vid useful to share the vid. I'm not sending anyone a video entitled "keep yo legs closed" :look:--and, towards the end of vid 1, I also hear him say that "any woman with any type of respect for herself...."that's inflammatory. But, yeah. I can overlook those things to appreciate the message.

ETA: I like this dude. "That's a lie from the pit of hell." yass! It is :look:

ETA: Ok. Yeah. I agree. And the accent grew on me. lol

I love his country accent :look:

@carcajada It's not about the men being corrupt, it's about men who have lost interest. I don't fault the men for walking away, they should've communicated why they walked away to the women but I don't fault them for loosing interest. Women know the deal, we just like to think that we are going to be the exception, which isn't true. We like to think that our sex is so good that it will keep a man interested and that they will "fall in love" later, which is crazy. Or we like to think that sex deepens the bonds of a relationship or takes it to the next level, which it can but only if both parties are on the same page of emotional investment.

Women need to hear this. I've dated men who have women literally offering sex left and right and these are men who don't even respond to their text messages, calls or sex offers. So when these men who have gone 10+ yrs of getting easy sex from women get tired of that lifestyle and seek a woman like myself who requires more effort, they are often handicapped. Not because they aren't good men, not because all they want is sex, not because they aren't willing to wait for marriage but because they've been offered easy sex since they were 16 years old. I've been preaching this since high school, men actually do want a woman with high esteem and respect for her body, time and heart. Sex should never be used to manipulate, but I do think that as we begin to respect ourselves more and require more of men then they will grow to meet those standards.

I agree with what he says about women needing to close their legs... but at the same time, he can't really talk because he had sex with his gf/fiance/wife before marriage (I can't remember if he is married or not yet).

Also, a guy can still be a jerk even if you don't have sex with him. I had a cousin who was with a guy for over 4 years and he never married her. He moved out of state and started his own business. They never had sex. Plus, he was a virgin at that!

Honestly I feel if you want to hear men getting told what's wrong with them don't listen to a man just listen to females speak on relationship issues. Most men are going to say stuff directed at women and vice versa. Men/Women know some of the wrongs of their gender but unless they gay they worried about the opposite sex that they are trying to get with.

He mentioned that and said they experienced hell early in their marriage because of it (not sure what exactly they went through), but I'm glad he's teaching the truth despite his own shortcomings. He didn't glorify sleeping with his wife before marriage, he called it a mistake that led to consequences. Apart of being wise is learning from others, and his testimony is even powerful to me, because though he fell he got back up and is speaking the truth.

As my mom would say when the enemy reminds you of your past, remind him of his future!

LoveisYou - Okay, thanks. I know he didn't glorify sex before marriage, but I just think it's funny how people, usually newly married ones, give out all this advice that they didn't take before getting married. Another youtube channel of a guy giving all this advice to women is coreychutney.

And like I said, I agree with what he is saying about women should close their legs... it's just that it would've been better coming from someone who didn't have sex before married or even an unmarried virgin. It just makes me wonder if he wasn't married, would he be following his own advice by not enticing women to open their legs... Hope that makes sense.

i hate when ppl disable the comments.

and lol @ you guys mentioning his accent. i didnt even notice. that's how most guys sound down here

ok, finished w. the first one. i really wasn't going to watch the video bc the title pissed me off. i only watched bc of your comments on here. glad i did, this is interesting. sounds like a sermon. more ppl need to listen to this.

Poohbear, I definitely understand your point, but I probably wouldn't listen as much if it were coming from a virgin. Some of us just can't relate to that:look:, I think we need virgins and non-virgins spreading the message.

True. I guess some of the advice these men give just feels like an attack on all single unmarried black women sometimes, like it's a curse not to be married, or like we're dumb creatures that have low self-esteem or think we're not good enough... There are unmarried black women out there like me who know how to close their legs. Not all women open their legs to anybody and everybody. Not all unmarried black women have low self esteem. I surely don't.

And I'm not necessarily talking about this Tony Gaskins guy, but I'm thinking about the coreychutney guy I mentioned. It seemed like as SOON AS he got married, he started all these videos and even published a book for college women to take his advice.

LoveisYou - I also would like to know what consequences he suffered from premarital sex. If I remember correctly, he may not have elaborated on it in the youtube video but it was awhile ago since I seen that older video he posted.

He didn't go into details about the "hell" they went through, but he did mentioned that they went through it because of having premarital sex. I wanted him to explain but.......

I've heard ppl say they experienced problems in their marriage because of premarital sex, but I've never heard anyone go into the specifics.

Poohbear I so get what you're saying, it's true there are women who don't need this message, but there are those who do. Unfortunately a lot of women AND men might need to hear this, so I don't knock his message. It's so much bigger than those of us who don't need to hear it.

I recently spoke to a GROWN woman who believes she can sex a man into a relationship
