Clarifying before 2012.

i was going to but i'm going to just do it tomorrow.

i used an apple cider vinegar rinse earlier this month. I wasn't aware it clarified though. I wonder if using that + a clarifying shampoo would be too much. (i planned on clarifying then doing a protein treatment, then dcing, then doing the acv rinse.)

For me it's really a concentration question. When I'm using acv to clarify I use a stronger percentage, like 1 part acv to 4-5 parts water. However, I ALWAYS do an acv rinse as a final rinse, and that's typically around 1 part acv to 10-12 parts water. While it may still have some clarifying properties, it's much less than when specifically used to clarify. I do it after my clarify/protein treatments all the time.

That sounds good and will be helpful to many people, thank you!

I shampooed my hair last night with Giovanni 50/50, which is half clarifying? Does that count, lol?

Never wash your hair on New Year's Day or someone in your family will wash away from your life.

I'm out of town/ away from my stash until Jan. 4th/ 5th, but TRUST, as soon as I get back settled in in nyc, I'm gonna have my head under that faucet with clarifying shampoo so faaaast...mmmmmhmh! It won't even be funny.

And then, an avocado-olive oil protein mask. Followed by a VO5/ Kenra all-DAY DC. Yeahbuddy. my 2012 hair care will be starting out a week late, but it's gonna start the right way!

Lovelyyy! Would you ever consider making an alternative at home?
Inspiired why yes, i have :yep: I was just reading the mudder thread a few days ago and saw that folks have pieced together ingredients that are not hard to attain. I still have a few bottles left of LCL to go through though but after that i just may give it a shot. My hair feels delicious right now. After i detangled w/ my knot today then added my hot six oil on top my hair was singing.

I love it when our hair sings! :)

Ok, summary for anyone reading: bentonite clay + aloe vera, ACV & aphogee seem to be the most popular choices (for future references!)
