Can I ask a dumb question? (Part II)

what is WEN? is that the name of an actual product or does it stand for something? (like how NTM is neutrogena triple moisture):look:

Also, Sally's has a knock-off WEN product line called HAIR ONE for about $11 per bottle.

If you are a co washer, these products are worht checking out!

I just did a protein treatment which turned out great! I was wondering if Sunsilk Hydra Tlc Mask is a hard protein because I wanted to use it as a prepoo. If it is a hard protein how long do I have to wait to use it?

I'm not should what the ingredients are, but look out for proteins at the top of the list. Items are listed in order of their concentration; if proteins are listed toward the middle or end of the list you should be fine.

You should balance your protein treatment with moisturizing conditioner. What are you planning to use after the pre-poo?

What does BC and TWA mean?

BC stands for the BIG CHOP when a transitioner cuts off the all relaxed ends are become completely natural.

TWA stands for Teeny Weenie Afro which contrasts from the BAA- Big A** Afro after it grows out.

I have two questions that I've not been able to find answers for in two years...

1. When you wrap your hair, how do you prevent the beehive effect at the crown? I have watched tutorial after tutorial, and I still can't get it right, but I must be doing something wrong - lots of ladies wrap their hair without problems.

2. How do you keep the scarf on your head all night without giving yourself a headache or an indentation? My scarf ends up under the covers every single time.

1. I smooth my hair DOWN and around; I start by getting my hair into the Cousin Itt style so it is all going straight down. Then I part from the crown to the nape in the middle (just with my fingers). I start wrapping from that part in the back, but I make sure that the hair at the crown is still going downward.

2. How I tie my scarf: I put the scarf on my head with the fold darn near down to my eyebrows, then I cross the back and tie it in the front right around my hairline. Then I push the part of the scarf that's over my forehead upward toward the knot - not moving it on my hair, just the extra material; I think this helps it stay on because if it does slide, I've still got a couple of inches of material before it even would begin to uncover my hair.

I have a dumb question - what's a good DC for me to use... the cholesterol one i have doesn't make my hair feel good :(

I LOVE Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose conditioner. I get it from Whole Foods and it leaves my hair silky soft and super shiny :yep:. No exaggeration. I also love their GPB conditioner for a protein treatment.

I have a question....how does garlic stop shedding? And how does it work so fast?........I read that someone did a garlic treatment and the shedding stopped immediately

TIA

How do u guys scratch or color ur face out in ur pics?
What can I do with my aloe vera juice?

on my computer, it has an "edit" option, and when i edit it, i either use the blemish feature, or any feature. you can also put your picture in "paint" and use their features and go over your face in the picture, or you can use like photobucket and edit the pic, and go to work on your face.

I am 18 weeks post.
1. Is it bad to rollerset my hair twice a week after a co-wash or shall it air-dry?

2. Should I be co-washing everyday or at least 3/4 times a week?

Or at this point is it best to Keep.It.Simple.Sista!

I don't even see how people rollerset that far in a stretch. I cant, so to answer your question, i think you should keep it simple but if your hair can stand it, then by all mean rollerset, but not too often. HTH.

My turn! my turn!

What ingredients would automatically cause a conditioner to be categorized as a PROTEIN conditioner, and/or MOISTERIZING conditioner?

The reason I ask is this. I use the Cantu Shea Butter leave in as a moisterizer, but I've read that others here consider it a protein conditioner. I DO NOT want to apply protein when I think I'm moisterizing so please educate me on this one.TIA!

Proteins often have the word protein in them like soy protein, wheat protein, silk protein, etc. Some proteins have different names like keratin, amino acids - building blocks for protein, casein - milk protein, egg powder, and collagen. If it says that it is a hydrployxed protein that means that the protein has been broken up into smaller molecules so that it can penetrate the hair shaft. This is one of the things that can make a protein treatment hard.

Cantu Shea Butter has Hydrolyzed Soy Protein but it is so far down the list that I wouldn't consider this to be a protein conditioner. It is balanced IMO.

What is henna???---thats my dumb question I never knew lmao

Henna, or Lawsonia inermis, is a flowering plant that is used for its conditioning and/or coloring properties.

What can I do with my aloe vera juice?

I edit my pictures with paint or some other editing software.

I use aloe vera juice as a leave in. It moisturizes, has protein, and hold.

DUMB QUESTION: i still dont know how to wash my hair
i mean i know what to wash it with but not how.
help

Well everyone washes their hair differently. Here is some things to try:

Apply conditioner to your length and shampoo to your scalp only. massage the shampoo in and you can also let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing. You should do the same thing with conditioner if you are cowashing.

Don't pile your hair on top of your head. Don't scrunch the hair all up while washing. This can cause tangles and rough up your cuticles.

SOme people wash in braids/twist. Some do loose hair.

Thank you VKB, I just read that thread......I am way below the average of 50-100 hairs a day, so I'll hold off on any garlic supplements/treatments.

ok, i have a question...

I've seen some ladies talk about clarifying when they have buildup on their scalp, but how do you know if you have buildup? Can you see it? Feel it? What?

Umm..how do you pre-poo?

You saturate your hair in the oil or conditioner of your choice, for the time length of your choice, before it's time to shampoo or co wash. Some people pre-poo overnight. Some for 30 mins to an hour. Some people use a cap, some don't. Some use heat, some don't. How you pre-poo is up to you and results vary.

its more of a "feel it" kind of thing. like, maybe if certain products just isn't working for you when you know that they usually do, then that may be a sign. or, when you know that you've just been using a lot of products, it may be that time after a month or two, or even if your hair don't have that shine that you may have had, then you may have build up and need to clarify. These are just some examples that I know of.

How the hell do I make a poll??

after you write out your thread, before you submit it, you scroll down, and if gives you an option of if you want to attatch a poll to your thread. you click the box that says "yes, post a poll", or something like that.

I secure mine with small bobby pins, a couple in the front and back. I try not to tie it too tight.

how do you post multiple pics in your reply to a thread and also in your signature?

COPIED FROM 1STAR IN ANOTHER THREAD:

Hi. I'm just wondering. Why open multiple quotes/windows/tabs and then copy/paste when you can just click the multi-quote button at the bottom of each post you want to quote? Then after you click all the multi-quotes that you want, you finish by clicking on the "post reply" button (doing this will open a new reply with all the quotes you selected) and insert your comment(s). (or did I miss that post cause I did read the whole thread).

This is the multi-quote button:

This is where you find the multi-quote button (the bottom right corner of each individual post. when you click it, nothing will happen but a red highlight around the icon):

Thanks Wheezy for replying, but I wanted to know how to post pictures not quotes. I just don't know how to put pictures in the body of a thread like for updates in challenges or to show a style that I achieved etc... Also, I wanted to know how to add multiple pictures to my signature to show growth achievement. Like how do I post one in six months without deleting the one that's already there?

cradle cap is when babies have like a thick layer of dandruff or dry scalp (or something a long those lines), but its like it wont go away. That's how i've understood it.
and a troll (again, from how i understand it), is an ignorant person that post and start a lot of trouble. basically an ignorant person.

Okaaaayyy...these questions seem intelligent to me. I'm about to break down the dumb-ness.

What is ETA?

People write it all the time and I have no clue what it means; I read the comment and ignore the ETA.

Sorry if this has been answered multiple times...
