For all the naturals that BC'd & had less than 3" of unstretched hair when they BC'd,

& who weren't quite ready to rock their awesome TWA's...

how in the world did you wear your hair?

i want to BC, but i really wouldn't feel comfortable rocking less than 4" of hair.

Please share how you guys did it!

Kinky twists. They blend really well with my natural hair. People think they're real.
I chopped at 4-5 inches because transitioning got too hard. I've had relaxed hair all my life so I had no clue of how to do it. I would have done something to mess it up.

Me too! I have been up and down with this decision. I am about 6 months post and it is getting so hard dealing with the two textures.. I had originally said I was going to BC before 2010, but the closer it gets, the more I am chickening out. I just don't think I can rock the twa. I don't know what do to!

Hey there! :)
when I BC in April I roughly had about 3 inches--- I did'nt wear to many wash n go's ---I did twists (Kinky/Senegalese) Weaves -Finger rolls/Spiral curls with my own hair and of course if I was too tired to do anything with it --- I have a synthetic lace front in which I use no adhesives. It actually was pretty fun with all the styles I could wear, at first when I chopped I wasnt too comfy to sport it out but I know you will be fine. (Makeup and /or jewelry, hair candy helps too) :) Hope this helps.

I rocked it for a bit then I learned how to do my own weaves properly. So I did that then bought a lace wig. I wish I wouldve learned my hair at the time though.

I've rocked my TWA some, but I've also done kinky twists and cornrows w/synthethic hair added. Right now I'm in individuals until at least Jan 2010.

I wigged it up and still am!! I didn't know what to do. My hair didn't curl after I chopped it, as it was just frizzy. It was too short to braid, unless I got extentions but I didn't have the money for that, since I just took them out before I chopped. So I've been wigging it since March (with the exception of two weeks when I wore a wash and go).

When I BCed and was natural I just wore my hair as it was (wash and go) mostly. I don't like wearing hair that isn't mine, so that was out of the question. I did a lot bantu knot outs. (I still do as a texlaxed head). I did a few braid outs. I never used heat. I took advantage of my several scarves.

Oh, wow, were people on you asking you why you were always wearing your scarf?

I did mostly braids and twists. I think I did one weave.

I have been doing the scarf thing for the past month as well, and nope, people don.t (can.t use my apostrophe for some reason, lol) ask why. They usually say it is cute, and ask how to do it. :)

I wore wash and go's until it was long enough to braid and then I got kinky twist and box braids until it was a comfortable length.

The first time I BC'ed I shaved my head to the scalp. I wore it as is, and to be honest I think I got the most play in my life when my head was bald to less than an inch of hair.

In June when I did my third BC I had about 2 inches of hair. I just wore it as is again. I wash my hair on Sunday and style it, usually a wash and go or finger waves, and just refresh it each morning with water and conditioner, and moisturized at night.

I think I want to get some kinky twists installed now because I want to do a low manipulation regimen for a while. But you have to be confident to rock the short hair. I have really high cheekbones and big ole eyes so I think that helped me to pull it off. And earrings are a must!

I did the same as Auburn the last time I had BCed. Once the hair got to that weird length, I wore headwraps and hats everyday. I got really good growth doing this too.

I had three main styles:

Head scarves

Wigs

Kinky twists

Twists under my half caps & a coordinating scarf worked for me. I have half caps that match my braidout & twistout textures perfectly.
