Calling all NATURALS that BC'D & hid their TWAs...

Braids braids braids. I have micro's right now and I think I when I'm done with this style I am going to get about 2 sets of kinky twists until the summer and then see how long my hair so that I can wear my hair out on my own. I cant wait till i can do some twists and have a BAA!

I've done a lot of lace fronts at work for the last 3 months, but when I'm not there it's just me and my TWA. I'm kind of tired of the wigs though, so I got some comb coils done. That should get me a couple weeks' variety...and some shocked looks.

I rocked my TWA for one day/night. I got awesome feedback, but I was still not feeling it.. I keep my hair cornrowed with a wig.. I plan on getting a sew in in 2 weeks

I BC'ed back in March 2009. I haven't worn my real hair out. I'm mainly wear curly/wavy wigs; next month I'll be sporting lacewigs (with bobby pins).

I'm not comfortable wearing my natural hair out until it grows a little longer. I work in Corporate America and big fros' are often frowned upon.

But I will sport MY natural hair by the end of the Summer 2010.

I BC'd in June 2008 and wasn't ready to rock a TWA. So I wore headwraps and wigs. Then, after my hair grew out some I wore it pulled back in a puff/bun. Shortly thereafter, I texlaxed because I had a new baby and couldn't put in the time for maintenance of my natural hair. I am now transitioning again, but sans BC. No more cutting for me...my goal is to be like TheMakeupVirgin on YouTube. (She just grew her relaxer out for many years and still has a few relaxed/texturized ends left last time I saw her vid). Gradual trims are my way to go.

I've been wondering about this too. I never thought I would want to BC, but I began thinking about it a lot around 6 months post. I'm 8 months post now, and for the last month or so I have fallen in love with my bun - I finally figured out the right technique and products. So I haven't thought about BCing as much lately, because I would miss my bun, but I do still think about it. I had thought for a while that I would try out some BSS lacefronts, and if I liked them, I would BC and then wear lacefronts until I was comfortable with my length. I think I would get tired of them all the time though, so I still don't know what to do!:wallbash:

thank you all SO much for your suggestions!

i bought some wigs from hairsisters during their buy one get one free period, so i'll be good until they start looking ratty (another week or two ).

i asked the thread question because i recently got my hair cut into graduated layers. it's chin length, & the bottom few inches were cut so short, they're already natural. regular straight styles are out of the question, because i refuse to heat-damage my hair so early in the game. also, braids are out of the question too. my hair is very fine, & every time i got braids in the past, my edges would become noticeably thinner.

i love the scarf idea! i have no idea how to tie it all cute in the back, & i don't have any eyelashes, but i'll find a way to make it work!

& i bought my first snood (slouchy beret) the other day, i love that as well.

LHCF is amazing, each one of y'all are so helpful!!!

Kinky twist & then very cute beanies & hats. I'm still doing the beanie/hat trick with the baggy underneath. I"m still not loving the unevenness and the shortness. When it gets past my ears unstretched then I might wear it out (it's getting close though).

They have them at my local bss already tied like that so it could be an option. Thought I might buy one and give it a try for work. I wear scrubs everyday so it would work.

non of us need any sleep:grin: I am desperatly seeking a natural hair care salon in the LI/NYC for braids twists my hair is 4c 16wks post with 3/4" relaxed left over from short haircut so I have a braidout-twa any natural hair care salon referls in my area?

I wore quick weaves for the first 2 months since my BC. Last week I decided to debut my TWA. So far I have done the wash and go, and flat twist in the front with comb twist in the back, and of course the infamous headband.

:bump:

can't take it anymore! i'm 5+ months post, & i'm gonna do my BC at the 6 month mark (march 2nd). all of the suggestions in this thread have been super helpful.

I'M SO EXCITED!

I might do a video.

auburn where's that video at?:grin::grin:

Congrats on the potential BC!!! I wore braids up until the end of last month. I am now half wigging because I am not wanting to straighten until March. We'll see then how long the hair is then and if I'm going to wear it out now.

for a few weeks before my bc, i had been wearing my hair curly n bantu knot outs. now that i've bc'd i'm still wearing stretched styles. with the shrinkage i had while transitioning, its been easier to wear my twa without people knowing i've bc'd. as long as i keep it stretched, no one should know until i tell them. ♥

I wore weaves until my hair grew to shoulder length. Then I wore wigs and experimented with my hair while I was at home. It took me a while to perfect my twist out and get comfortable with the new me.

You know what? I had less than 1 in. the second time I BC'd, and it never occurred to me to wear one of my many wigs!

I got my hair cut off on a Friday, and I stayed in my dorm room alllllllll weekend, lol! I wished that I'd thought of kinky twist, though. It would have saved me from the horrible (but at the time cute) dye job that I got.

congrats on your BC!!!
is your hair braided underneath your wigs, or do you just let it be? & do you have any issues with detangling?

Hey girlie!!! I do not braid my hair under - it is very short (one pic in my signature). I moisturize in the am put on my satin bonnet then my wig cap put on my wig then head band then leave... I have very short hair absolutely no issue with detangling... I LOVE IT but I want my hair back... :)
