i would ike to say the brain mcknight is no king or god but a human bean like the rest he is entitled to make his mistakes and learned and thats dumb if u stop listening to his music because he didn't vote. somme ppl tend to forgeth that celbrity are human beans and they have the same right as you all

[/ QUOTE ]

So what if he doesn't vote. I don't either! It's still a choice, isn't it?

I don't know what his reasons are, but I have mine, and to each his own.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ok Ok Ok, Let me clear it up........I wasn't saying I stopped listening to his music because he doesn't vote. It was the reason he doesn't vote that made me stop listening to his music. Basically he's saying hey...."I'm above middle class so voting doesn't help me any so I'm not going to vote".....so ummmm let me think who do think enabled him to get to above middle class status??????? You guessed it... middle class people who buy his records. If it weren't for the middle class he wouldn't be above middle class yet he turns arounds and says well voting only helps middle class and below and that's why I don't vote cause I'm above that....sounds like some BS to me. Hey his music is good and if I hear it on the radio, that's cool, I'll jam to it....hear it in a friend's car....cool I'll jam again....as far as buying it..yeah right....you're right he has a choice not to vote....that's cool, I ain't mad at him and I also have a choice not to buy his music....right....

I heard that Brian McKnight beat on his girlfriend. I was an undergrad, and this surprised me. I was wondering what issues was he going through to hit this woman. As for banning his music, I won't do it. It's a shame he did those things, but music is what he does for a living.

It reminds me of the story that my grandmother told me. She said that I shouldn't eat Hershey's because they wouldn't hire black people. I feel bad about it but sometimes I slip and buy a Hershey's almond chocolate bar or eat Hershey's kisses.

Now I haven't listend to Brian's recent music because I think it's kind of whack. But his old music, yes I still listen to it. Now if I met him in person with what I know, I wouldn't be gushing and scrambling to get his autograph.

I personally don't think its stupid if i or anyone else decides to not buy or listen to his music. I just think it would be very hypocritical of me to not like someone and then to go out and buy their music. Besides its my money and my ears. *shrugs*

I was stunned and disgusted when I heard that Brian McKnight didn't vote...but I didn't stop listening to the one song that I like by him: Anytime

However, with if it comes out to be true that he beats women it would be hard for me to listen to his songs because they would remind me of Brian beating women.

The same reason I stopped listening to R.Kelly...that song 'Seems Like You're Ready' takes on a whole new meaning now that we know that he likes little girls. Yuck!

Sorry, this SHOULD HAVE SAID:

Yea! I'm with you! I'm not throwing out my BMcKnight CDs because he doesn't vote, but if I find out for sure he's a womanbeater... well, I wasted a lot of money

I threw out all my RKelly CDs after the pedophile story broke. I still won't listen or watch this overgrown, adolescent PEDOPHILE!

we must remember celebrities are human, so they are subject to human frailty..........

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree, why are we disappointed in celebrities when we are the ones who build them up and then we are quick to tear them down. They are human like the rest of us and make mistakes. I think its sometimes unfair how we put them on pedestals and its pressures them to comform to an image that may not be their true image, this is one of the reasons why you see so much alcohol and drug abuse, eating disorders in them. Not to say that us "mere mortals" don't suffer from problems, but their's are made worse by the public scrutiny they are under.

[/ QUOTE ]

Since when is choosing not to vote a human frailty? Omigod!

[/ QUOTE ]

My comments were referring to the critism that he sings beautiful love songs yet he is getting a divorce, I'm not talking about voting. Personally, I thinks it a shame when people do not exercise their right to vote, because in my own country we cannot vote for our head of state and people are being imprisoned for fighting for that right.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh! Thanks for clearing that up.

On Brian's UTurn album, a lot of the songs have to do with heartbreak and starting over.

So, he may be divorced but it may not have been his choice from the songs he croons.

I am really into music and lyrics of a song. If your song is talking about treating women with love and respect and you go out and beat up your woman. I have a problem with that. Sometimes your song are contrary to how you are in real life.

[/ QUOTE ]

Today is my first time hearing it. Was he ever charged? Did it make the papers? I'm surprised I didn't hear about it.

There have always been rumors that Luther V. is gay. Suppose it came out that he is, but he sings romantic love songs to women.

Would you still buy and enjoy his music, knowing he's laid up with some man?

[/ QUOTE ]

An artist being Gay is not an issue for me. AN artist that is a pedofile or beats up on women is a problem for me. An artist who kills people and has no remorse is an issue too. I can like someone's music but not be in support of their lifestyle.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree with that, SB, but if Luther is gay, shouldn't he be crooning out love songs to men instead of women? Hmmm.... kind of hypocritical, doncha think?

I don't think America is ready for Luther to come out of the closet. He still has many older fans talking about how sexy he is. Besides a lot of his songs really don't indicate the gender of the lover. Here and Now, House is not a home. He is still my man.

He's mine too, so back off! LOL!

Yea, I'm with you. I know on his last album, one song seemed to clearly indicate a male/female relationship.

Again, we don't care. I love his music and he's about as decent in his personal life (meaning we don't hear anything) as he is in his professional life

Beside his music is for lovers, different races, and sexual orientations love his music.

Brian McKnight is talented and I still enjoy his music. I just no longer think he is this sensitive, loving guy anymore.

I dont think a persons personal life should affect whether we buy music or not but we buy their music cuz we like it not necc like them. but if choose to boycott someone cuz they acted a way that was against your ethics then good for you. i boycott companies cuz they go against my ethics so i understand why some of you wont buy his music, having said that since i work with women escaping domestic violence i have stopped buying at shops that were run by the abusive men.
music is music it aint all good (not v big luther fan but partner is big time) but i agree his music is for lovers regardless of sexual orientation...my partner will be shocked when i tell him...maybe he knows dunno..
