I ran out of HairNourish from GNC and switched to Country Life Maxi-Hair (Vitamin Shoppe). It has 600mg of MSM and 2,000 mcg of d-biotin. Too early to tell results but last month I had over an inch of new growth.

What is d-biotin?

I answered my own question. According to this web site d-biotin is synthetic not natural. GNC's NourishHair contains natural biotin.
A 'd' in front of the vitamin is an indicator.
Facts:
* synthetic vitamins have only one component out of a whole family of micro-nutrients that accompany them in their natural state?
* that only 50% of a synthetic vitamin can be utilized somewhat efficiently?
* that some sensitive people may actually have an adverse reaction to the synthetic vitamins?
The biotin broke me out, too. I hadn't noticed, either, until my mother and then the nurse at my son's dermatologist said something about it. The next day, I went to see the dermatologist myself, and he prescribed a cleanser and gel that has cleared it up. I've had to shelf my old cleanser and moisturizer until I stop taking the biotin, but oh well.
What web site did you get that information from. I can't pull the page up with your link. Also all the information that I've been seeing, refers to d-biotin as natural.

Yes I do take other vits. I am in the process of revising my vit reg. I am currently taking:
Freeda Biotin 10 mg a day
VS MSM 1000 mg a day
Vitamin C 2000 mg a day
VS Hair skin and nails
Digestive enzymes
WOW that's alot.. are you taking anything else??

We're taking almost all the same things (even the Surge), I don't take the digestive enzymes and for Biotin I'm taking VS also but haven't noticed an increased even though I stepped it up from 5 mg to 10 mg a day. Hmmm, the Freeda Biotin's are a bit more but....

I don't do the Surge anymore. I do think that switching brands will help you with your growth. Freeda Brand is a more potent brand of biotin and it absorbs very quickly. I have gotten the tabs wet before and they just sort of melt!
I think the Freeda is worth it especially with the results you get!!

OK... I just did the calculations for those who look at Freeda cost, as I sure did. I ordered the 250 count 10,000mg pill from the koshervitamin site. I ordered it Sunday and it was here Tuesday, just as I used up my last bottle of Puritan's Pride biotin. (I had the 1000mg bottle w/ 100 pills.) Here goes: PP normally sells (100)-1000mg tablets for $6.95. I would have to take 10 of those to equal 1 Freeda biotin tablet that has 10,000mgs. Therefore, I only get 10 servings from the PP at this dosage. To get 250 days worth of PP biotin at 10,000mgs/day (as is the case w/Freeda if I have 250 pills and only take 1 a day), I would need 25 bottles. 25 bottles x $6.95= $173.75. $173.75 divided by 250 days= 70 cents per serving. My Freeda cost me $52.43... divided by 250 = 21 cents a serving. Compared to what I used to take, the Freeda is more than worth it in the long run.
(Ain't this a good math problem for elementary school kids?
