Best Time to Take Vitamins?

Hi Ladies,

I usually take my vitamins in the morning to jumpstart the day. However, I know someone who takes them at night. They say they want the vitamins to replenish their bodies while their body is at rest.

Have you tried taking vits at different times and noticed a difference?

TIA!

When I was taking like 7vits a day, I took half, first thing in the morning and the other half a hour before bed, didn't see any difference.

I recall reading a post stating that it was best to take them at night. I don't recall the rational.

I just make sure I take them period. Day or night.

I started taking my vitamins at night during my first pregnancy. It stopped me from being so nauseated. I still take them at night. I noticed a difference in my urine. When I took them in the morning the next couple of trips were a different color but when taken a night it is the normal color. I guess my body has absorbed what was needed instead of me peeing it right back out.

I read some where here that it's best to take vitamins at night. I have taken vitamins at night and I realize it gives me so much energy that it has given me the problem of falling asleep at night.

I take mine at night.

I remember waaaay back in the day Jade21 mentioning "sleeping on the B's". She was saying she took her B vitamins at night so her body would have access to them for overnight repairs/rejuvenation.

I expanded that and decided to take most of my supplements at night. Matter of fact, I'm about to guzzle down a couple of ounces of aloe vera juice right now. :yep:

Wouldn't sleeping on B Vits keep you awake all night?

I spread mine out, taking my multi-vit and iron with dinner. I take my oils right before bed.

I don't know about morning or night, but it is better to take your multivitamin after you have eaten food that contains a little fat. Fat soluble vitamins (A,D,E,K) need fat to assist in absorption.

i take my one a days at night simply because they hurt my stomach if i take them in the mornin, so my doc recommended i take after dinner (i eat late) right before bed.

since my breakfast is usually a light meals my one a days tend to hurt my tummy..

HTH

I divide my dosage in the morning right after I eat and at night after my dinner. Since I have to take insulin after my meals I normally take the vitamins right after and then wait about an hour or so to take the insulin.

Never thought about time of day for vitamins, but I do take mine in the morning. I am going to switch to night for a while and see if there is a noticeable change.

ITA. You're also supposed to take minerals like iron, calcium & magnesium on an empty stomach since food can decrease their absorption. And you need Vit D to best absorb calcium. I take iron (Ferrol) in the morning before breakfast.

I take mine at night right before I go to bed. It makes waking up in the morning MUCH easier. I wake up energized and ready to go even after 5 hrs or less sleep!

Wow! I didn't know that. I take Ferrol as well in the morning but with breakfast. I'm doing everything backwards, lol.

Iron on an empty stomach?? I wouldnt recommend that- for a lot of people(myself included) it causes EXTREME nausea....

I use to take my vitamins at night, but it would keep me up so, I began taking them in the morning, after breakfast, and I don't have any problems whatsoever.

Yes, I remember that Iron gave me nausea during pregnancy. However, I haven't had any problems since giving birth. Yet, that's probably because I've been taking it with food.

I do 1/2 in the am and 1/2 in the evening.
-My multi is with dinner, and my b12 for energy in the am
-MSM and Omega doses in the am and pm, so it's more constant in my blood stream

Up until last week I was taking a combination of vitamins at night and I was VERY sluggish during the day. I mean it was EXTREMELY hard to focus. So I switched to taking them in the morning and throughout the day and I have TONS more energy now. I'm not sure if it was the time and/or the combination of vitamins at the time that made me sooooo tired, but I'm glad I figured it out.
