Best time to take vitamins?

Day?/night? at the moment im taking mine at night i think that seems that i won't be drinking in my sleep i won't be washing it out for no reason. So my body has time to take it? What do you think?
 
I follow the directions on the bottle. If it says take with meals then I take them right after I eat. If I have to take them throughout the day I take them with my breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner.
 
I used to take vitamins in the morning, but read a book called Fit for Life that discussed how the body was in an "elimination phase" during the morning hours. For this reason, the book encourages one to ingest only fruits before noon; and to take all supplements after that time as well.
