The one I prefer and use mostly is actually the level 5 which is in a blue jar. I think it's targeted to colored treated hair. I don't have color treated hair, but I prefer this one because it's very lite and has only a little bit of protein compare to the others.

When I don't have the level 5 blue, I use the level 7 pink.

I've only tried the clear. Works great for slicking down edges when I have alot of ng; don't even need to tie down with a scarf.

The pank one lol
Honestly I tried the olive oil and it has a hold of 10!! WAY too much for my hair. It also flaked up, too.
Never experienced that with the pink and the hold of the pink (7 or 8?) was perfect!

I might have to try the pink, I find the olive oil is a tad bit crunchy for me too.

I'm back!

I've tried the Argan one. I love it. It smells great and it doesn't produce crunchiness in my hair (Remember, I said no crunchiness for MY hair, YMMV).

I prefer the pink over the green...the green makes my hair super crunchy, even with a leave-in and oil underneath...

They all work the same to me, I stick with the olive oil (green jar) because the scent is a bit more tolerable than the others. I always apply a bit of water/oil before use to minimize any crunchiness.

I got a small jar of the clear EcoStyler, and I'm not all that impressed--it flaked on my daughter's 4a hair and was not good at holding my hair down (3c/4a). I think I will return to my Via Natural gel--Olive Oil (green jar). That stuff is sooo good on my hair--soft hold and keeps it moisturized. Not a flake in sight with the Via Natural. I think I'll be giving the EcoStyler clear one mo' try and then stashing it away or giving it away.

they all leave my hair stiff or crunchy when dry, even the ones that give me no hold(pink, blue, yellow, brown) plus they all smell. clear is the best for hold, olive doesnt dry the hair out as much. i have tried them all and i have no desire to try out the argan oil one.

this is coming from a former gel addict:look:

I've tried the.. Black, Yellow, clear,Olive, and Blue Ecostyler gels...

Out of all them it's between... the Protein and the Clear ....

Protein I love cause rinses out well, the hold is'nt enough to cause killer crunch yet enough to hold a WnG FOR ME.

Clear it's just well cause it's clear works the same as the olive oil. Only thing I dislike is it's harder to get out of my hair for some reason.

Blue gel is too sticky for me. it works when I need a nice soft hold but other then that...it's just sticky as hell..It also makes my head itch..which is the reason why the 5 lb tub is sitting there half used. It rinses well though

Yellow. I used it once..and I can't find it again... I liked the not so hard hold, however If I remember correctly it made my scalp itch as well.

I wanna get my hands on the argan oil one and the pink one since these are the only 2 I have yet to try.

I've tried the clear, olive oil and argan and the olive oil is my fave.

The argan flakes so I have to be very careful when I apply it.

The clear isn't bad but the olive oil seems smoother in my hair.

Well I guess I will be the odd man out. I like the brown/black one. That gives me a soft hold. The clear and the olive oil flake and make my hair hard even when I use oil with it. The brown/black one doesn't make my hair hard. There is some flaking if I leave the gel on my hair for a few days without washing. But, I haven't met a gel that doesn't flake at all. I'm happy with the brown/black one.

Clear krystal one for a nice slicked back bun, the olive oil one didn't give me enough hold for a bun despite it being a hold of ten, I think it would be good for shingling, wash and gos and braid outs ..

I agree completely. I am in love with clear. Haven't seen or tried Argan...hmmmmmmmm!

I'm relaxed and I like the Olive Oil (green). It was a good price $3 for a big one. I use it to slick back my ponytails. I first put my hair in a pony, next I damp my brush, and brush back my edges. Then I apply a little gel to my edges and brush again. I heard that gel flakes because after it sets (gets hard) you shouldn't scratch. Or when you apply more gel on top of dried gel. I find that once my hair has set and I start scratching my head, it causes the gel to flake.

The bolded is so true. I like the brown/black gel and the only time I see flaking is when I have applied more gel on top of the old gel. Other than that it doesn't flake. Now the clear and olive oil they flake on my hair regardless.
