I have heard people say they baggie entire head ?? do you just put a plastic cap on ??? What is the effect it has on hair and growth??

What product to you use to get the desired effect??

Thanks in advance.

For super soft and moisturized hair, I sometimes spray entire head with Scurl and sleep with a plastic cap.

I think those jerri-curl wearers in the 80's were on the something!

Humm...I'm just wondering if this would affect the scalp from breathing and affect it in any negative way?

That's an interesting question. Every single post that I've read of people who do this have experienced less drying and breaking of their hair. :scratchch

Thank you
CurliDiva and VWVIXXEN responses were very helpful. I get very dry hair sometimes and need something to combat it.

What type of S-Curl I saw two types today and wanted to buy one from all the rave reviews about it on the forum but .. which one

Thanks a bunch

I'm not sure if this answers your question but between the blue and grey, and blue and white bottle- i buy the blue and white one.

I also do the baggy method over my head and it has definately saved my hair from the winter dryness. I also think it played a big part in helping me retain length on my edges.

I put equal amounts of conditioner a little bit of 100% Pure Aloe Vera Gel, Honey and a little Jojoba or Shea Oil on freshly washed (or conditioner washed) hair. I apply it generously, comb it thru gently then put a plastic cap (baggy) on my entire head and sleep with it on. I usually tie a silk scarf around the plastic bag to make sure it stays on securely! Sometimes I'll sit under a dryer or with hot towels on my head to warm it up and help it penetrate better, then I'll sleep in it. I never let it dry on my head though (that's the secret!) or if I'll be home all day, I'll leave it on for hours 3+ hours. then i rinse it out well and apply my favorite conditioner, comb it through and go about my day. it gives me the softest hair. whacks out dryness!

I don't know about going about your day with a baggy on (like a baggy and a wig.) I've never done that.

I deep conditioner often and what's really helped my dryness is Jojoba Oil!!! I put it on my ends and throughout my hair lightly at night. Then I sleep with a silk scarf on. When I wake up, soft, soft hair!! there is a link to a great conditioning treatment where I got that idea, if you'd like the link PM me.

The conditioners I use in my deep conditioning are:
(I mix equal amounts of these conditioners) Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner, Matrix Biolage Balm (for dry hair), Neutrogena Daily Deep Conditioner. The Biolage balm is fantastic!!!

I only wear the CO cap when I'm home or instead of a scarf at night. Beware, it will awaken you new growth though.

I do the full baggie and it works, I use con's or scurl no drip or MTG it all works esp. w braids or braided weave.

Hey, I just discovered what I call the "braided baggie method" recently! I spray my braids with moisturizer (lustrasilk right on curl activator) and cover with plastic cap and then put a satin bonnet on top of the cap to sleep -- awesome mositure and braids look fab. I'm anticipating good things when I take down my braids . . .

baggie entire head... sounds interesting... i may try this one night by wearing a plastic cap over my hair with oil in it...

i looove the baggie method. i used to baggy the whole day over my cornrows and put the mtg and keep the plastic bag all day all night and cowash every 3 days. it helped me in 6 months retain everything i grew and my hair hardly sheds, is always soft even though i m 4b natural. i know the vits help too but if a day i experience dryness i just pull out my plastic cap it makes my scalp sweat and it mixes with my natural oils and the hair stay moisturized with no added products. its really great to retain length and help the product penetrate better and stimulate the scalp. As i m writing i have on a plastic cap and underneath twists. i rubbed my scalp with a mixture of grease wgo and glovers mane i will keep the plastic bag on my head for a whole week and next thursday i will cowash my hair and let it dry in 2 ponytails then the next day i will go get my cornrows done and restart mtg and the baggy method in the morning and at night put the gueye's system products.

Yes you can. I bought mine from Whole Foods. I mainly use it on my daughters hair and it really helps with the dryness.

I actually used to sleep with saran wrap around my head instead of a baggie--then a satin bonnet or silk scarf and that worked very well for me. I am going to revisit this method again---starting tonight:) with a mixture of moist conditoner, distilled water and a little oil.

This is the one I use, also.

I never thought of using an "activator" on my hair before LHCF, but I LOVE HOW SOFT IT LEAVES MY HAIR!

Full-head bagging is my secret weapon for this winter! ;)

wow..i needed to do this months ago... funny, I've unwittingly done this(had to run out for something while doing hair and covered the bag w/ a fabric wrap or washing hair too late in evening and sleeping w/my condt on..cap under scarf) I was always worried that this was a bad thing!! Kewl!

This is great news:D

You know what CurliDiva? I just started incorporating the baggie method for my entire hair this week with S Curl instead of oil! I LOVE IT! My hair stays soft and moisturized the whole day.

Here's my plan:

1) Section off hair with fingers in 4 parts.
2) One section at a time, massage S Curl into hair with fingers, and do 3 loose braids for each section and roll them up into a bun.
3) Once I've done my entire head, I place the plastic cap over my head and put a scarf or bonnet over the cap.
4) In the morning, I have soft moisturized hair. I just unravel my hair with my fingers, fluff with my fingers, and go on about my business!

On nights that I'm lazy, I may skip step 2 and just put the baggie over my loose hair.

THANK YOU LADIES!!!!!
mY Hair lllloooooooves the baggy, EKOMBA, YOUR MY INSPRIRATION
mY hair went from desert dry to super soft no brittle dry ends here. I was really getting in to a dry rut and nothing seemed to be working. I now do the baggy entire head method daily either at night or throughout the day under my (khimar) head covering I think it is even helping my hair grow faster .
I bought the s-curl and my ultra-nurish hair vits and I have reached my first goal whoooo hooo

Thanks ladies for the advice!!!

Okay, what did i do wrong here?

I massaged in a few tablespoonsful of amla oil and wore the baggie for two days. The alma smell started knocking me out so, on the morning of the third day, i removed the cap.

Much of the oil had absorbed and my hair was more glossy than greasy! kewl! Then i had a crazy day w/ the kids and didn't end up w/time to wash until the the fourth day. my scalp had sucked in most of the oil & was so flaky it was gross.

i don't know if the oil + baggie combo somehow loosened up existing dry scalp to shed or what?!

i spent *forever* with the brush & comb and flipping my braids 'inside out' to try to remove as much of this dead skin-type flaking as possible, then i jumped in the shower and went to work with the shower massage.

so, flakes are gone and my hair feels awesome, so much softer. I just wish there was a way to get to this state without that gross molting/shedding episode. any ideas?

I wish I could help. I hate it when no one responds to my urgent questions...etc.
All I can tell you is that I've found that certain things that worked good for some members here, did not work out well for me. ..And by the same token, things that did not work out for a lot of people here worked out fabulous for me. HTH.
If I were you though, I probably would start over with a deep conditioner...just me though. :look:

i have been doing this nitely for years. I apply oil to my scalp and ends and then put a thin, plastic cap over my head and go to sleep. I'm natural so i do a co-wash or poo(depending on which day it is) in the a.m. oils that i am really loving castor, palm, coconut, pomace b olive oil, sweet almond oil, apricot kernel and rosemary. It helps keep the ends in check and moisturizes my hair.

Thanks for the reply HP! lol... a deep conditioner def. seems to be a good place to start. :)

the winter weather is crazy. summers and the east coast/europe are better for my hair and skin... more humid.

Thanks DeN 1
