Awful Weave

I can't pull it up in a ponytail because A) the braids underneath are so tight they hurt like hell :cry2: B) she braided my hair back and all the hair is gathered into a knot at the nape of my neck C) the front tracks by my hairline are so visible if I do anything other than allow the weave to fall straigh down.

I ran to CVS and got some headbands which is an improvement. But If I was just gonna rock headband, I didn't need to spend $300 for that.

braids too tight is reason enough to get it taken out. i had a weave put in 2 years ago that was SO tight, i had constant headaches and pain for 2 weeks. once the time came around to remove it, the hair around my edges had broken off something serious, and the hair by my ears (sideburns?) was totally gone. i was bald in those spots.

plus, any reasonably good weaveologist ought to be able to install without any tracks being shown. she did a downright sloppy job, and it would behoove her to take it down or restyle, FREE of charge. :yep:

I am following the advise here and been trying to call her. But to tell you the truth now don't I feel like I don't even want her to touch my head. This weave is three days old, still hurts and I have these bumps that feel like welts on the back of my neck from the braids pulling to tight. It's funny, she told me that "beauty was painful" when I told her it was too tight. Once she sewed the braids together, it was intense. I cut the threads on the a few of the back tracks because I couldn't even turn or bend my head.

First she shows your tracks, then she's trying to give you traction alopecia? Girl, keep calling!

sorry op but she didn't do a good job. you need to get her to take it out and redo it.. OR have her redo certain parts. show her a good pic of the look you are going for.

Beauty hurts?? That's dumb...

Anyways... She should probably leave less hair out. Like maybe about an inch so that way it will be easier to blend and you won't have to go through thee trouble of doing too much to your real hair. You'll have to keep using heat to curl your hair to match the pattern of that hair. Plus, How much hair did you have... she should've used like 3 tracks in the back and put most of the track at the top so it wouldn't look think at the top.

It's not unfixable, but if its too tight you're gonna lose hair and if its reall bad you can be permanently balded.

@TynaBeena I agree with you about putting most of the tracks up top. I bought three packs of hair...she didn't use it all...

My own hair is in a layered cut just touching my shoulders. If I actually styled my hair the way she told me to, it would look worse. She told me to wet my hair, apply gel and coil that into pin curls until dry, then unravel and it would match the weave....WELL when she did it, it did not look good and I said so, but she said it was because my hair was wet and didn't take the shape of the braid...so she blew it dry and just curled it with a large barrel curling iron. In her defense, I didn't protest too much with the way it was looking because it was pouring and humid that day....my hair puffs out like cotton candy in humidity and rain.

I was aware that the too tight was a problem cuz I read the boards before getting it done and I had her not touch my baby hairs in the front and back, but still....ugh.

I'm sorry for this happening to you. But if you cant take the pain of pulling it up and you dont think it will work for you i would take it out. I'm the queen of removing weaves especially if i dont like them.

I know its awful to waste money, but since you got it done at her house then there is no way to really get your money back or go complain to the owner. Thats another reason why i switched up going to ppl houses and getting weaves done...dont get me wrong there are some good weave stylist that do hair in the salon and at their homes. And you took all the steps that you needed in order to pick the stylist. I usually look at pictures etc. and go off recommendations.

The only thing I would suggest since you paid so much on the hair is try to maybe find someone that can remove it without damaging the hair so it can be reused again. Just in case you want to get a weave done again.

You could try rod setting the front of your hair so it matches better but if you're already having problems blending, just take it down and have her redo it. And try putting some MTG or tree oil on your bumps on your neck. Next time make sure you have pictures of what you want so she can't give you the run around about her work, either she can do it or she can't. But she needs to help you soon.

To quote tony childs - "oh hell no" :nono:

You need to march back up to the shop immediately and show her her "work". Speak to a manager if you can.

See a lot of "so called stylist" get the game effed up, the weave doesn't even appear to match your hair texture, she didn't leave enough of your hair out at the top to cover the tracks. It doesn't look professional. I don't care if she did it at home or not, she needs to fix it for you. You paid her your money, she messed it up, and now she should fix it.

Ok here are the pictures.. I don't know if the flash messed up the ability to see the tracks...

Truthfully, I don't think it looks that bad; although, I can't see the tracks but I am going to rely on Ednise's superior weaving skills and say that if she can see them then they are showing. I think more than anything it looks unbalanced. The first thing I would do if the tracks are indeed showing is get them covered. The second thing I would do is chop a couple of inches off the bottom. The top of the hair looks a lot shorter then the bottom and, for me anyway, it looks kind of mulletish. I think that if you take a couple inches of the bottom it will be a definite improvement.

The stylist did a horrid job and I don't like the choice of hair either. I think that since this was your first weave you should have picked a texture more like your own in order to minimize blending headaches.

Check BHM for stylist recs in your area. You can definetly trust their raves.

OMG. Please put her on blast, please. She did a horrible job. I would get it taken out immediately. Good thing you did not go to the salon and spend more money. Just take it as a loss. Trust we have all had at least one or two salon horror stories. You should not be in pain after any hair service. Her "advice" was stupid and in the wrong tense.

I didn't need to spend $300 for that.

Woah!!!!! Hold up!!! She told you that if she did it in the shop she'd have to charge you 3 times as much??? So she was gonna charge you $900 for that????? That would have had to been Madame CJ Walker herself, and I still wouldn't of paid that much.
She HONESTLY needs to correct what she did wrong and throw in something extra just for your time.

Oh my goodness ... this brings back bad memories. I had something similar happen to me, although I didn't pay. My skin was pulled so tight and I had bumps. I left it in thinking the pain would subside, but my scalp was like 'no way chick, take this crap off me!!' When I took the weave out after a few days, I had dried up scabs showing that my skin had been broken and there had been bleeding. As soon as I felt that much pain, I should've just asked the girl to stop, well in fact I did and she had a similar response ... should've been more assertive I guess. I'll know next time.

I think you need to undo it asap, and take care of your scalp. But take good pics of the weave and any wounds so you can at least have proof when you ask for a refund.

Just to clarify...the stylist did not charge me $300....that was my overall cost for the hair and the install and the other products she told me to buy to maintain the "look".

I'm annoyed because she came with me to buy the hair. I told her what look I wanted and she picked the hair out. So if this type/texture wasn't gonna work for me I would have been okay with something else. She talked me out of some others I wanted....so no big deal.

This stylist's name is "Renee" from the Bronx, NY and she works out of a salon in Brooklyn...I don't know the name 'cause I went to her home. I saw pics of her work and they looked good...what happened to me???? Maybe she doesn't do curly/wavy styles well since the pics I saw her of straight styles.

I pulled the braids apart in the back and my sister said I have scabs and oozing....those spots feel like I had been burned. I'm so annoyed...I don't even want her to fix it. She has demonstrated to me her work already, I see no reason to let her do it again. IMO if she made a basic mistake of not putting enough of the tracks on top of my head to keep them from showing, then she is not as good as she thinks. Plus she told me I could wear this weave for 3 months!!! Maybe she was trying to have my hair fall out to guarantee I would still need to wear weaves!!!!

Oh no. :nono:
It may be a waste of money, but I would take all of that out and let my scalp recover. You don't need a major setback like bald patches on top of everything.

I noticed you said several times in this thread that she showed you pictures of her work. Maybe she stole someones portfolio? If folks can steal pictures on the internet for dating purposes, why not business purposes. There is no way she can show you pictures of good work the she had the REAL experience doing, but still jack up your hair. Seems really odd. She also couldn't do your hair at a shop, cuz she doesn't really work out of one? Maybe I'm being overly suspicious lol.

I hope your hair recovers quickly. Baby the injured areas of your scalp. Maybe try half wigs instead of weave. You can do that yourself and I know you won't jack up your own hair. I'm sorry you had to experience this.

I would take them out. Its too bad you had to waste $300. But clearly you're dissatisfied and your scalp is paying the price.

I would also let her know that you were going to take it down and express the reasons why.

OMG that's exactly the same feeling I had, it's such a sharp pain. Most of the bumps went down almost immediately or within a few hours of taking the weave out.
