HITS:
Kelly Van Gogh Heads Up! Highlighting Kit: Last night was my third time highlighting my hair, and it was the quickest and easiest yet. Although some of that can account to having tried it twice before in the past, there are several nice things about this kit that made it a great experience this time around:
-The lightening mixture: It uses the 'Translucent Mica Shine Gel Lightening System' which allows you to see the results as you highlight because the mixture is "basically" clear. Now, I wrote basically because the mixture is not clear, it's actually a sheer white; nonetheless, it's sheer enough that you can undoubtedly see the lightening action as it happens (instead of the typical, pasty blue bleach that masks results). The texture is creamy, thick and kinda foamy and easily glides on the strands you want to highlight. Once applied, the treated sections harden into a shell so that it doesnt lighten other areas of the hair. Also, the mixture has "Keratin proteins, amino acids, mica shine minerals, and UV protectors, strengthen hair and protects the integrity as it is being lightened". It's also scented by KVG's signature Jasmine and Rose scent (which smells sooo lovely; no nasty chemical smells!)
-The kit contents: The kit comes with a trial size product called 'Wonderlust' which is an illuminating tonic (has a bunch of nice ingredients in there, I dont have it in front of me though) and when you spray it on the hair that is being lightened, it HALTS the highlighting process immediately. So you can stop the highlighting process at any time and even spray different sections at different levels of lightening to get a 'multidimensional' effect. The tonic can also be used as a leave-in to illuminate your new hair color and multi-tasks as a detangler and several other things (it also has subtle shimmer in it to reflect light).
The box comes with reusuable gloves, 2 clips, a highlighting wand and a bowl.
Kelly uses the kit on her own hair in this video:

All in all, my highlights lightened nicely, and the lightened hair isnt dry or brittle, I didn't experience any severe breakage or anything out of the norm either. I would definitely use the kit again.
Sebastian Cellophanes in Gold Red: I've used cellophanes a ton in the past and still do, but this is my first time using Gold Red; I like the bright, copper penny color it gave my highlights, and the light, golden red color the darker areas of my hair reflect in the light. The texture seemed a bit more jelly-ish than usual, but I liked it, and as always, I love that it doesnt bleed or run like some semi-permanents can do.
