Im wondering if using heat only once a month did any thing for your hair. As far as growth, thickness and just over all health...

I use heat now once every 2 months and my hair was at a stand still right around bra strap when I was using heat on my ends nearly daily now that I have cut that down dramatically and only use heat once every 2 months my hair has gotten to waist length. I am still trying to get it to thicken up a little more but I think that just comes with time.

I was using heat monthly but read about the benefits of less heat so I cut back. I'm noticing more knots on my hair when I don't use heat though so I'm considering going back to once a month. I would really like to see more responses. I've been wondering about this also.

I think unlvgirl does this but she doesn't post often. Her natural hair is waistlength.

Wow!!! I stopped using heat as of last October and I have noticed lots of knots in my hair. I never connected the two but it is true. I have been at such a loss with the knots I get in the curliest parts of my hair but I never had them when I was straightening more often. I am still not sure that I will go back to it so much but that is a really good point.

I flat iron once a month after the new growth really gets going. If I am careful, it will last a couple of weeks. Last time my stylist flat ironed my hair and I was 10 weeks post. The next week she nor I could tell if I needed a touch up or not until the water hit it! Then it was like oh yeah...relaxer time is getting close!
