Hey Y'all!

I'm currently on what I plan to be my final growth attempt. I think I can do it. I've tried and maybe stopped too early, was on the wrong road, or didn't have enough information, BUT I think I now have the right plan and ability to execute. So I want to find you, stalk youtube, and even your fotki:drunk: I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to know you exist.

I know long haired women in my life, but they've always had relatively long hair from the time they were able to take care of it. For example my sister (different father); once she got into college and had control of her own hair it grew, and grew and she was brastrap, could cut it to a bob and grow it back to brastrap faster than you could blink. She has NO idea about hair care. Wears her hair permed, flat ironed, rarely washes it, and completely gives over the health of her hair to her stylist. It works for her and its what she does.

I want to know those stories of women who finally took control of their hair and grew it to long lengths.

Are you there? Do you all know who they are? I know there are similar threads, but I searched and couldn't find one completely similar:perplexed.

LOL. Me. I don't have anything for you to stalk tho. I have a blog and photo album here on lhcf and I talk alot on the boards. But, prior to finding LHCF, the only thing I knew about hair care was to put it in a ponytail (because I was straight hair lazy) and go have it done if I was going somewhere special. I did my own relaxers and that was a hot mess (but I didn't know better). Thought I was saving money. But, I made sure my hair was bone straight by applying relaxer touch up to my ng first and then all the way to the ends ~ just to make sure it was straight ~ and wouldn't use a timer. I'd wait until I'd feel it tingling on my scalp. That meant it was time to wash it out. Girl. How do I even have hair on my head now. :nono: I would have tons of broken hairs on the floor everytime I combed my hair. Oh, I was a hot mess. But, I was always past shoulder length so, I thought I had long hair. Actually, I might have made apl a few times ~ but it was a pitiful, scrawny apl. I mean, my ponytail was like a crackhead squirrel's tail. Not even cute ~ but you couldn't tell me that.

Anywho, I had my hair cut and layered just before New Year's 2010 and I posted a rear shot of my hair on facebook and a friend asked if I was on lhcf. That's how I found the board. I started reading and just made the decision to commit to at least one year of focused hair care. No stylists, find a good reggie and just stick with it. I think the important part is sticking with it and knowing that if you do, you're gonna get good results because you're taking good care of your hair. I focused on growth and retention. I read, asked questions and did what made sense for me and my hair.

I have a thread on my 1st year's growth with pics. You've probably seen it. I'm hoping that it will be an encouragement to be consistent and believe that your hair can grow. Not only has my hair never been this long or healthy in my life but, I don't even think the thought ever entered my mind to want my hair to be long. But when it did, I did something about it. I never expected to have problems and, for the most part, I didn't. It never occurred to me that if I took care of my hair that it wouldn't continue to grow. And, I never subscribed to any limitations on what I could achieve. All I know is, if I could do it (and I have), ANYBODY can do it.

Girl. I am a night and day case. Good luck on your hhj. You CAN do it! Stay posititive. :yep:

Thanks NJoy you are definitely a LHCF celebrity! I read your thread and the resulting pages when first posted. Your progress is absolutely amazing.

I'm now at the point where I think I can do it, and I'm focusing on the right things.

Thanks for the inspiration!
