Ok, I'm officially beginning the process of growing out my hair indefinitely, so which one of you 4b TWA wearing absolutely natural (i.e. no straightening whatsoever whether by heat devices or chemicals) wants to join me?

I'm starting with about only one inch of hair. My goal for November 25th will be to have 2 inches.

Thanks, you other ladies have had an influence on me and keep up the great growth with your hair as well. :-)

Hey, hey, hey! 4b here! /images/graemlins/wave.gif I had to cut my hair /images/graemlins/cry3.gif and would like to grow it back out. It would be great if my 'fro looked like Ludacris by Nov. 25. I lovvve his 'fro! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I will be wearing my hair au naturale, however, I will be wearing a weave (not the orange one, lol!!!) to cure my HIH disease /images/graemlins/look.gif

I'm not exactly sure my texture pattern..I have a few coil patterns here in there but I defintely think I'm 4b, too. I'd love to join the challenge! I'll update my length November 25th /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm sorry you had to cut your hair. /images/graemlins/kiss.gif

But now you can begin the journey with me of growing it back and even longer than it ever was! LOL

Great! I really want to see how long natural 4s can grow their hair out to. I know that shrinkage will be a problem, but I think in about 3 or so years, my hair when stretched could be close to bra strap.

Oh and since you mentioned your hair texture, I can't get over my own! LOL

It was funny since on Monday I discovered my first tight coil! I thought I had a bump on my head, but my hair forms these tight little coils and I'm still trying to figure out how to get a good texture shot. But I think my hair needs to grow more before I can.

Dang, I'm talking alot.

So what do you plan on doing to help aid your growth and retain the length you already have? /images/graemlins/drunk.gif

off topic...

Xerxes...your hair resembles mine a lot. You look more like 4a (o shaped with a few s in there). I thought 4b's had mostly z shaped strands (no curls). You've got all kinds of spirals up in there.

Anyhow...count me in! Heat is over-rated...I totally hated the blowdryer. I straightened a little piece of my hair with a curling iron and was so scared that I had totally fried it! LOL...

Count me in to! /images/graemlins/weird.gif Every day I look in the mirror checking to see if my TWA got bigger. I'm working with an inch of hair right now. It's nice to know I'm not the only one.

I am down with this challenge. This is just what I need to motivate me and help me with my frustrations of growing my hair and learning all that it can do. NO HEAT, moisture, moisture, moisture, and alot of TLC for me!

Good for you!! The cut really suits you!

I'll be transitioning for another 10 months, but I hope to catch up with you guys soon!

x

Just wanted to say that you have a face that really suits your TWA. It looks gorgeous on you. Good luck in your growth journey!

I just had to say that your enthusiasm for your newfound "napptural" beauty is the cutest thing. /images/graemlins/grin.gif You're a wonderful and welcome cheerleader for the rest of us naturals out here.

I don't think my hair is 4b (though I'm sure that if I looked for it, I'd find some in there!) and I've finally gotten *just* past the twa stage, but I'm as impatient as anyone for my hair to grow out. I don't have a specific goal in mind. I just want to see what it looks like when it has some length (and width *g*) to it.

PS--I found your note to me in your hair album. Thank you very kindly, though you kind of made me blush. /images/graemlins/smile.gif And trust me, dear: you look GOOD. I'm glad you didn't let that one ignorant doofus get to you.

I'm definitely 4b. When left alone it shrinks to an inch but it's really about 3 or 3.5. I have it in lil' box braids w/o any extension. However,I use a wig daily when going to work.
See you ladies on the 25th of November. ***off to add this thread to my favorites list***

Goodness I can't wait to get to the BBA stage! How long did it take you? And don't worry about not having a TWA, I think I should open this challenge out to all 4s! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

<bowing down to the natural hair diva herself> /images/graemlins/notworthy.gif

I'm sorry about you and your mishap with the curling iron! Just be happy your hair's long enough to attempt to curl or blow dry! LOL

You and your hair are just so awesome, it's hard for me to disagree with what you said at all! LOL

My only concern right now for my hair is that I wish it would grow quicker on the sides. Since my hair does coil in places it shows too much scalp in pics and I'm not about to be placing more pics of my hair looking "scarce"! I'm still waiting to see how my hair texture will change as it grows out. So far though, you're right, your hair is the closest to a hair twin I have seen for me.

I just really want a big luscious 'fro.

And I can't wait to see how your lovely hair grows out. I wish I had cut my hair off sooner. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Oh my! We're at the same exact place! And I love your album, you have cutest lil' boy! /images/graemlins/baby2.gif

Hopefully on the 25th of next month we'll both be closer to 2 inches! /images/graemlins/clap.gif

Yes, moisture is key and so is staying away from heat. In fact, I wish I could find a way to give my hair sheen for long lasting periods of time. I expected my 'fro to naturally be dry, but Afrosheen doesn't work for me! LOL

It works for everyone else in my family but me. So now I'm still using the sheen spray I used when I was relaxed! LOL

Otherwise, I've been enjoying con washing my hair as often as I like! I feel so freaking free right now. I can get my hair wet at will!!

Oh, and back to you because I rambled (LOL), what length are you starting at and what's your goal? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Your newgrowth is already probably longer than my hair! LOL

If you can last 10 more months, God bless you! Transitioning is hard and I pray that you persevere to your goal.

That was funny how you showed a prediction of what you would look like with a TWA! LOL I thought it was cute!

Wearing a TWA effectively requires that you realize just how beautiful your face truly is. When you're dressed up and rocking your lil' 'fro, trust me, it's hard not to pretend you're a model! /images/graemlins/rofl.gif

Thank you so much! And I have a feeling that you're going to be bra strap by 2005. All of this positive energy you spread with your compliment will come back to you as those extra 2.5" you want! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, all of you natural ladies are beautiful! I'm not even lying and you guys serve as great resources for tips on growing healthy natural hair. So it behooves me to congratulate you'll at every turn! LOL

You're right, your hair isn't 4b, it's 4a if it's even a 4, but you have the wonderful privilege of growing your hair along with the rest of us! LOL

Oh, and I didn't mind the idiotic remark in my album, it just shocked me that someone could be that foolish. The whole point of the album was to document me going from relaxed to my nappy natural hair, so calling my hair nappy was stupid and redundant! LOL

Also, I think your hair will grow quickly and I think you'll have much less of a shrinkage problem than I will. And thank you for your compliments, now I will return to cheerleading! LOL /images/graemlins/weird.gif

Hi! You said you already have 3 to 3.5" of hair yet wear a wig. Do you do this because it takes too long to style your hair for work? Do you occasionally wear twist outs and stuff? I'm just asking because I can't wait to get to 3 inches one day and it's a little perplexing to think of someone covering all of that beautiful natural hair.

Also, this is just a poorly concealed way of getting you to talk about styling options! LOL

It took me nearly two years from a nearly bald state. I could have been longer but pregnancy health and late post-partum shedding has held me back. Plus, I have not been caring for my hair properly, which is why I am here. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have some weird ideas to get through this winter, but I have to find out if they are feasible.

I'm sorry to hear that you had some minor setbacks /images/graemlins/kiss.gif

But now you're on the road to the length of your choice. And since you mentioned "weird" ideas, you got me all curious, so what are you thinking about doing this winter? /images/graemlins/spinning.gif

They are top secret for now until I can get it done and see if it works without messing up my hair. I do not wish to feel guilty right now if someone loses hair because of some half-***ed idea that has been unproven; I have no problems doing the BC again if needed.

I can say it involves keeping the head covered until April. Since you have an easy TWA, you could use the plastic cap method Den1 uses. If you are brave, you could wear a hat or headwrap over the cap with the hair covered with oil similar to SherryLove's baggie method. Hey, you may come up with some new ideas as you are growing your hair out....just have some fun with creativity. /images/graemlins/antlers.gif

I'm like a 4a probably..Not quite sure, but I do have a TWA! I'm growing it out with braids, though. That's how I always grow my hair, even when I had a relaxer. I was at 4 inches when I put these braids in, so I'm probably about 4.5 to 5 inches now. I can't wait to grow mine back out! I went from almost bra-strap relaxed to TWA, but I want bra-strap natural hair..so I'm in!
