3 Month "no Buy" Challenge

I'm really unhappy with my dull hair color. I might do a rinse next week. I have some Manic Panic and Beyond the zone Color under the cabinet. The last 2 times I did blue black, but this time I want to do a red shade (raspberry kamikaze).

Hmm so since using Joico Moisture Recovery every week on wash day and doing a light midweek protein cowash with Nexxus Emergencee Reconstructive System Conditioner I may have no need for the Nexxus Emergencee Treatment. As long as I use up everything else this won't be too bad.
Which Joico Moisture Recovery products are you using, and how are you using them?

At the suggestion of @lulu97 I've been using the entire Joico MR line (blue bottle) on wash day. I shampoo, use the conditioner and the balm. My hair is shiny and has a perfect balance. Recently found out this line isn't good for straightening though so on my straight weeks I use something else.

Yes @KammyGirl You know that line is our Bae! I too still use the shampoo, conditioner and balm...not every wash day...usually every 3 or so. I rotate it with my Enjoy Luxury set.

I heard from @dontspeakdefeat on one of her Periscopes that she does not recommend the balm as well for straightening. (She is a professional hair stylist) I don't straighten my hair so it's not a deal breaker for me.

@lulu97 the last couple weeks I've been alternating basically doing a protein week and moisture week the next using Paul Mitch instant moisture line. I know lots of ladies do this but I always felt like I would have a hard time keeping up with the schedule. Now that my hair seems to be responding to products it seems easier. And my hair hasn't balked at getting Joico every other week instead of every week. Let's see if it lasts.

I made a few posts in the straight haired naturals thread about how awful my hair came out when I flat ironed after using this. My hair was super shiny but weighed down. I thought it was the serum. Turns out it was the balm. Still love it though!

Excuse me ma'am @lulu97 where do I find the gallon jugs please and thank you!! Also that Enjoy stuff looks fancy. What is it, where do you get it and how does it perform? Might be interested...after the challenge is over of course :look:

@KammyGirl I've been trying to make nice with the salon owner of a shop not far from my house where I purchase all my salon products. She has a distributor that comes to the salon and I'm trying to build up the nerve to ask her to purchase one for me :lachen:I don't know her like that yet but I'm trying to be friends solely for the product discounts :look:

Girl I don't even know where to begin with the Enjoy products. My stylist in San Diego introduced them to me around 7 years ago and the Luxury line is ah-ma-zing!!! Like my love for this brand runs deep. I was using Enjoy and MoroccanOil when I first came to the board but I fell off of it trying other stuff, but as always...stuff comes back full circle so i'm back using it and in love. If you love Joico, you would love this even more. I usually purchase it at the salon but you can buy them online at enjoyhaircare.com
I see it being used mostly on the west coast...it's very popular in California salons.

@lulu97 I am going to take a break during August, but the No Buy Fall challenge will start in September.

I want to reward myself with Therapiste shampoo, a couple new masks that I'm almost out of (Maskeratine, Masquintense) and a lace wig.

@Prettymetty That's a great plan. Gives us a chance to stock up on staples and focus on them for the rest of the season. I'll be sure to join you next go round.

Your product choices sound yummy too!

Still going strong! At the end of the challenge, I'm going to reward myself with 5 products!!!! Woot Woot!!! Most are repurchases. How are you Ladies going to reward yourselves after the challenge?!

All of that is so pretty

Probably not going to reward myself until next year and it's going to be with a bunch of deep conditioners in January

Edit to say: Thank ya'll for this no-buy. I'm really seeing how much money I can put towards other things when I'm not just randomly buying hair products I don't even need

I used the last of my Oleo Relax mask last night. I'm not sure if I will repurchase it when the challenge ends. I would rather get more Maskeratine or Nutri Thermique (heat activated).
I'm looking to get this (bolded) one as well @Prettymetty.

I also want to try:

Kerastase Oleo Curl Intense Mask
Kerastase Age Recharge Mask
Kerastase Nectar Thermique Serum
Fibre Architecte Serum
And the Elixir Ultime.

@Prettymetty, still holding strong on this challenge but for Fall, there are too many BF sales I will want to take advantage of so I will be out for that round and will be back for winter!

So another shampoo gone. I've been using them for other things. Now I just have 1 more Vo5 clarifying shampoo and then I'm done. It seems like after that I'll only have my staples left. Now to get rid of some of these stylers. Or maybe focus on the oils? I never use them anyway. I should probably start doing scalp massages.

Glad to see you PJ's over here and still "Growing Strong":giggle:

We're doing our own little N/B from June to July4 and maybe from July4 - Labor Day & then Labor Day - BF (if possible).:look: No Passes, loopholes etc.....

So, thanks to all of you for giving me the Motivation to use up some stuff and not buying.

So far, so good. because I seriously need to stay deep in my Stash.

My weekly update:

Hi beautiful Ladies.

I havent used my pass and don't plan on it...I have everything I need. LOL I just came home a few days ago from visiting the west coast in which I had a bob weave installed while I was there, so I surely wont be needing anything anytime soon. As stated up thread; when this challenge is over I will be doing a few fall purchases to re-up what's NEEDED but that's it.

I havent used up much...only 1 full size product and a few travel size conditioners that I keep in my guest bathrooms. But hey I only have a few products so I try to stretch my stuff out....besides I get product build up easily so that helps in keeping everything to a minimum as well.

Before I got the weave installed, my stylist trimmed 1/2 inch all around. (She showed each section to me prior to trimming. She's one of my best girlfriends as well and knows I don't play about my hair LOL)

That's all of the updates I can think of. I'm assuming the next few weeks will be quiet but sometimes no news is good news. :curtain:

Still holding my peace with this challenge. So far all I've truly wanted were wigs but I don't really need them. I'm gonna go through my wig stash and see what else I can give away. I already gave away two of them last week. See...still trying to reduce my stash.

I also gave away one large and one smaller container of butter today, and 2 bottles of Manetabolism vitamins. I also threw out some other hair vitamins that I have no interest in trying anymore. I like Beautifully Bamboo too much.

One of my natural coworkers brought me a bottle of Biosilk today, because she saw that I straightened my hair. I'm going to use it at night before I wrap my hair.

I really want a lace wig from Sassy Secret, but I have to start taking better care of the ones I have now. 2 need to be washed and styled.

I was thinking about buying this conditioner. How was it for you? I really like their leave-in conditioner. :yep:

it was a good conditioner with good moisture and an awesome minty tingle. Nothing remarkable for my hair though and I wish i could get a larger size for the money. I would repurchase if it was on sale just to try it out on my hair again.

Thanks for your response. I was tempted to buy it when I went to Sally Beauty a few weeks ago. I will pick it up to try next time. :yep:
