2016 Milestone Challenge...(not A Length Challenge. No Length Goals)

I didn't mean to post my last post yet. It was a draft and somehow it posted. Maybe I left it in the text box too long? Ugh! I'll probably just add more to that post at the end of the month if I come up with anything else.

I was wondering but wasn't going to say anything. I figured you just got excited.

Lol I know right. When I came in here last night I was like where is my draft? So I scrolled up to quote my old post and start over and saw it posted. Smh I wasn't even finished.

Tomorrow I'm going to work on my halo twist with Marley hair. If I can get it to look right I'm going to wear this style until next wash day or until I completely get over this flu. Whichever comes first.

1st Quarter:
1) Protective style for retention
2) Retain moisture in twist for 2 days
3) Learn how to cornrow my hair
4) Learn how to make a natural hair wig
5) Focus on making my ends healthy
6) Eliminate SSK's
7) Work on regrowing temples and crown
8) Work on thickening my hair
9) Work on improving my high porosity hair
10) Do inversion method the first week of each month

So far I'm doing pretty good with my 1st quarter goals. I'm still protective styling with wigs. I'm not in twist anymore, but I can now cornrow my hair so that I can wear my short wigs. I've made a natural hair wig using weaving thread. I think it turned out pretty good. I will post pics once I've gotten it to my liking. My ends are coming along but I may need to trim soon. I'm rarely getting SSK's since I've been wearing my hair stretched and braided. I'm still working on my crown and temple and using chili seed oil and jbco every other day. However, I didn't do the inversion method but a few times this quarter and I didn't finish the 7 days cuz each time I would forget to do it . My porosity and thickening my hair is still a work in progress. Those goals will take me some time to figure it out :yep:.

I just took measurements to monitor my retention goal each quarter. Starting lengths on left side: 12 inches in front, 11.5 inches on sides and nape, right side is 12 inches in front and 11 inches on the sides. Right nape is 11.5 inches. I will measure again at the end of each quarter.
Bumping these measurements, because I'm doing my length check in a couple weeks

For years, I've stuck to the rule that mineral oil is a no-no. But I've come to realize that it is the best sealant for my strands and if keeps them from tangling and knotting more than anything.

So my regime is simple:

1. Rinse at night in the shower.
2. Seal with the pomade of choice.
3. Two braids over night a la Amel Larrieux to stretch.

The challenge for me will be sticking with it as is because I always love changing things up.

Update:

1. Rinse at night in shower.
2. Seal with glosser, usually Fantasia IC.
3. Lightly coat with gel, usually Fantasia IC.
4. Top knot bun and wrap with silk scarf over night.
5. Friday scalp massage with avocado oil. Friday night overnight deep conditioner with Nexxus Humectress.

Tried a new style. A twist and curl. It came out terrible but everyone kept saying how cute it looked. I'll try it again in a few days. Maybe this time I'll just do a twist out with the rollwer on the end. I'm proud of myself because I never try new styles.

Let's get ready for our 1st quarter updates ladies. We have a little over 15 days until the end of the quarter.

Please share how you did on your 1st quarter milestones and share your milestones for the 2nd quarter.

I hope reaching your milestones is thrilling and motivating.

I'm in.

Goals:
1. Perfect halo twist using braiding hair (1st quarter)
2. Protective style at least 2 weeks a month (2nd quarter)
3. Do more roller sets and less wash and go's (3rd quarter)
4. Get middle section of hair to the same state of health as the rest of my hair (4th quarter)
5. Dust ends once per quarter
6. Attempt a new style at least once per quarter

I did not accomplish my 1st quarter goal...which is fine because I accomplished my 3rd quarter goal of doing more roller sets and less wash and go's. I also dusted my ends and tried a new way of doing my bun which was a win. But the best thing of all is that I'm making major progress on my 4th quarter goal of getting the middle section of my hair to the same state of health as the rest of my hair. I want to change my goals around for the remainder of the year. I'll post those later.

Update us at the end of the month. You still have two weeks to make some stuff happen.

Already slacking on my 2nd quarter goals. I was doing my hair this morning and reached for the stocking to wrap around my head for a wash n go puff. Someone come and slap this damn stocking out of my hand. My nape and crown will suffer and I'll never be able make that braid arouns the perimeter of my head if I keep this up. Ok I swear no headband tomorrow. Maybe I'll wear a little bun tomorrow until I decide how to style.

3) Learn how to cornrow my hair
4) Learn how to make a natural hair wig
Ok ladies so I'm finally posting a pic of the natural wig that I made this quarter. The pic is of a twist out that I did on the hair.

I'm going to revamp my 2nd quarter goals because I've decided not to wear my hair out 2nd quarter. I will update during check in to update my 2nd quarter goals.

I need to figure out how to get the back of my hair to look nice like the front of my hair. I so do not want to be one of those women who looks great coming but terrible going. I just took a pic of my hair from the front and I look fabulous. Took one from the side and the side and back looks a mess!! That's partly because I've had some breakage back there that I'm working on but dang. It looks awful.
