Girl welcome and just keep up what you are doing and you will have wl hair in no time or just heathly hair to wear ever you want it to be. you look like you are doing a great job it would be nice if a lot of young girls your age at 14 would start researching about how to take care of their hair.

Hiiiii Welcome! I just graduated HS too, I'm pretty quiet on this hairboard but nice to meet you! HHJ (:

Welcome on board and very happy to see you looking after your hair at such an early stage in your life. You stated you went natural at 14, at what age did you/parents decide to put chemical relaxer in your hair? How long were you not natural?

Yea...I tried to answer that question by writing full paragraphs...I ended up writing a college level essay. Sooo to save u from having to read a bunch of stuff that'll make u fall asleep, I am going to give a list of blunt and chronological bullet points to help u understand my "hair journey" or "journey to naturalism"

- Used to get hair pressed

-Relaxed probably at 6, because my hair can NOT hold a press and curl for it's life

-Started doing my own hair at the age of 8

-put heat on my hair. EVERY DAY.

-Hair began breaking off

-Mom made me get cornrows, box braids, and various other low-maintenance and PS for years.

-whenever my hair wasn't in braids, i used a hot comb and put it into two jacked-up pigtails

-my hair was "Heat Trained", but I didn't know that-I just thought my hair grew out of my scalp in a poofy-undefined fashion all my life

-my hair finally grew back to SL

-begged my mom for a relaxer in 8th grade

-Got the relaxer, which led to scalp burn and excessive shedding. (not the normal daily shedding of 100 hairs, the I'M FREAKING GOING BALD AT THE AGE OF 13...shedding)

-Stopped relaxing and tried to cover the damage with micro braids

-Micros made it worse

-Ended up picking up my mom's copy of "Hair Story: Untangling the roots of Black Hair" (or w/e the title was...I'm sure some of you know this book)

-Had an epiphany (The only reason I was relaxing my hair was because I wanted to be accepted...not because I actually liked it.)

-Decided I was gonna get locs, but not permanently. I would just wear starter locs for a looong time to help my hair grow and then take them out before they would actually loc

-Didn't know getting locs required me to cut the permed hair out

-Went to the barber, received a boyish hair cut (he literally gave me a MAN'S HAIRLINE!! I fixed it myself with a razor at home) and ended up bawling cause i only had like 2 or 3 inches of hair

-Felt insecure because my friends said they liked my "old hair" (micro braids) and they called me sheep.

-Wore starter locs for about two months

-Took them out because my hair was locing waaay too fast

-Didn't know much about natural hair, or how to keep it looking neat and I didn't have the money to get it braided and I had no skills with styling natural hair myself.

-Still felt insecure, and was becoming tired of people telling me what to do with my hair.

-Shaved my head bald. Completely bald. First I cut off a big chunk of it down to the root so that if I changed my mind i wouldn't go back on it, then my mom later on helped me buzz the rest off

-Felt insecure about being bald, and wore scarves

-Started wearing wigs for some variety, but I kept my hair cut in a low caesar underneath the wigs

-Went to live with my father, who knew i was hiding behind wigs, and forbid me to wear them because i was using them as a crutch

-stopped cutting my hair sophomore year (two years ago)

-Discovered sites like Curly Nikki, and eventually, LHCF

-Fell in love with my hair and myself

-Embraced my naturalness

END

(Edited for spelling errors...sooo many spelling errors >_<)
