hello ladies I am relaxed..well atleast thats what I think.
When my relaxer was frex my hair was really really straight.. but now that it has been about 4weeks its really kinky! I know the freshness of relaxers wear off but I'm not too sure how my hair is suposed to look anymore since I've had overprocessed hair for last 5 years or so(purposly to get my hair bone straight:perplexed)
When I see other relaxed heads they dont look as kinky as mines, which made me start to wonder if I had accidently texlaxed instead...

What do you ladies think?

the second picture is right after a wash and dry so thats why it looks like a fro

OMG!!! I AM SORRY THEY ARE SO F*** HUGE!!! LET ME TRY TO RESIZE.

:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

I am sorry but I had to laugh at your horror.

My hair tends to be textured still. Like I like I am texlaxing, when I am not. My relaxed hair looks like some naturals on here. :ohwell:

Your hair is thick and beautiful non the less, how long do you leave your relaxer in? what are you doing to your hair before you relax it? When I was relaxed my hair behaved the same way --w/o leave ins --but for me my issue was porosity. I know more ladies will chime in. :)

The last time i relaxed i forgot to start the timer so I just went off what I felt was long enough...I even thought that I left it in a bit longer than I needed..expecially since afterwards it was straighter than than I wanted it..

And Thanks. it looks really thick until I flat iron it :(

for those who cant see I still have my bone straight over processed ends.. the 2 texures are TOTALLY different!

oh and i couldnt resize them sorry.. if its a problem i could add them as and attachment but they may be to small for everyone to see the texure..

It looks like you have some new growth but are still a bit underprocessed. Do you base your scalp before the relaxer and with what? Also Do ypu use any oils or anything prior to relaxing? What type of relaxer do you use? Lye or no lye?

I used ORS olive oil no lye relaxer. and I dont think I used any oils or anything on my hair..unless it was a few days prior..however i think i did wash it a few days before..I know I'm probably not supose too..

I could of been the fact that I had so much new growth after almost a 6 month stretch.. new growth was crazy thick!!!!

and yeah I do have a little new growth..I'm glad you notice..it came in after only 2weeks of using MN:grin:.

I dont mind my hair being like this. but I thought it was a bit kinky to be relaxed properly.

Are there any downfalls to my hair being a bit under processed?

My hair was still kinky when I relaxed. The only way it straightened was when I used extreme heat afterward (blow dryer or pressing comb). As soon as one drop of moisture hit it was all over.

what strength relaxer did you use? you may need to up the strength, and or of course use your timer next time see what results you get if they are the same as this time then you need to use a stronger strength.

hth.

I suffer from this same exact problem. Currently my hair looks the same way but shorter and maybe worse. I don't know whats going on with it, but I know that I am not putting another relaxer in it to counteract the problem. It looks horrible, especially since I took out my braids, which was yesterday. My permed ends resemble strings and I have a BUNCH of new growth. I guess I'm letting my perm grow out, but I don't know if Im transitioning or stretching, but either way, I ain't perming it. Cause its not gonna help it at all. I don't know what I'm gonna do.
I don't think you should relax your hair. Let it grow out naturally.

i dont thinki'm going to relax it again. I'm shooting for a long stretch anyways..as long as i can go.

I'm sorry to hear about your hair. I hope it gets better i know it can be so STRESSFUL at times..

and forgive me for i just had to laugh when you said your permed ends look like strings:blush:
mines look terrible too..

Interesting,
My hair looked exactly like this when the dominicans relaxed me with ORS no-lye a year ago.My hair slowly reverted :(
I switched to Mizani mild (lye) and currently use ORS lye instead.

ORS no lye always left me underprocessed even when I did a no no and left it in longer than I was supposed to

I experienced the same effect after a long, long "I think I want to transition but changed my mind" stretch. The lady who does my relaxers said it was normal for the hair to have somewhat of a reversion look after relaxing after so long unless I went bone straight, which I didn't. After my next relaxer (texlax) it looked better.

My relaxed hair looks JUST like that after airdrying. But I know for a fact that I'm underprocessed over about 75% of my hair, because I can see coilies down the middle of the shaft (not just at the roots) when it's wet. How does your hair look wet? Curly/wavy in the middle?

There could be several reasons as mentioned why your hair looks like this:
1. After a long stretch I find my hair doesn't relax so straight, but I like it that way. Gives texture for styling variation.
2. No-lye relaxers tend to be drying. Switching to lye relaxers gave a sleeker, shiny appearance and feel to my hair.
3. Strength of the relaxer. If you want a straighter look, you might need to change from regular to extra strength. I'd wouldn't advise this though.
4. Not all relaxers are the same. Some brands will relax one persons hair and another not so much. Some times you have to experiment. ORS no-lye may not be the best for your hair.

I would not suggest a corrective. Work with styles that get the look you like. Keep it moisturized. My hair looks like that after a wash, but I style it to my liking. Its grown from neck length to below armpit with some touching bra strap and I get loads of compliments when I style my hair, although a bun is my daily style. Hope this helps.

I love how your hair looks! My hair looks just like that when I airdry. However, I do add a little SAA and EVOO to my Phyto relaxer.

What has helped me was to use Biolage Cera-repair pro4 (ceramides). It makes my hair very soft and shiny (although your hair is already shiny).

OK, I haven't figured out how to quote, lol, but I agree with taz007 ceramides are great for giving a smooth feel and look to hair. I use Mizani Thermasmooth shampoo and cond. I love this stuff you can feel immediate smoothing of the hair.

mine is like that. and what i've realized is that i've actually been texlaxing. . .sort of. Once I get it all applied, I never do the smoothing step where you go through and smooth it down with the back of the comb. I just sort of smooth it with my hands and I am real quick with my application so I'm almost certain that i'm not fully using up the alloted time.

watch for breakage though. Some people's hair doesn't like texlaxing and becomes weak.

I use ORS NO-Lye and I am texlaxed, and I still look natural but it doesn't dry my hair out at all, but I like that it doesn't get me bone straight either. Your hair is Beautiful! and Thick to!!

I havent paid much attention. I will check next time.

I really dont mind my hair being this way.. If i want it straigher I could just flat iron it. and if want it to look natural i could do a braidout that would fool the world!!! LOL. I Just hope there are not any issues that comes with it....

And thanks very much for the advice!!!

oh..i forgot about the smoothing with the comb part..i use my hands too..

wow!!!..looks like my hair looks when I am doing a stretch for about 3 months..ORS is usually a good relaxer, have you considered going to a salon and let them get your hair on track and just style in between? I had to take this route b/c relaxing at home is not my thing (mine does not last at all)

There could be the issue. I think when you smooth it with the comb, you are applying pressure, and essentially molding the hair straight by sort of stretching it out. But when we do it with our hands, it's more like we're just distributing the relaxer, rather than actually affecting the hair.
