should relaxed hair look this kinky?

My hair would like JUST like this if I airdried it. I've always had really thick 4z hair, and I think it always looked like this.... I think. :ohwell: I leave it on 20 mins, smooth it, and everything. It looks straight before I wash the relaxer out, but it looks texlaxed after a month or so. I had to start relaxing it every 10 weeks instead of 12-20. It looks more relaxed at the roots, now, but I just work with it what I got for now.

When I was relaxed. My hair looked pretty much like that if I air dried it.
I just have thick strong hair. I always used Regular Gentle treatment relaxer. In order to get my hair silky straight I always had to blow it out and then flat iron it.

No I do not think you should do a corrective and yes I think it's a good idea for you to continue to stretch the weeks.

I really dont mind my hair being this way.. If i want it straigher I could just flat iron it. and if want it to look natural i could do a braidout that would fool the world!!! LOL. I Just hope there are not any issues that comes with it....

And thanks very much for the advice!!!

This was the main reason I stopped relaxing my hair. It wasn't that different relaxed or unrelaxed. And either way, if I wanted it straight, I had to flat iron. So what was the point of relaxing?

my hair is the exact same way and I use the ORS brand regular. My hair is coarse/thick so as long as its somewhat straight then its ok with me. Its better than being overprocessed IMO.

My sister hair is exactly like that and she loves it. My sister also uses ORS regular no-lye formula. Her hair was always like that now matter what relaxer or strength she uses. The stylists told her that she had coarse-resistant hair. Also her hair grows really fast so after a month she looks like she 2-3 months post but she relaxes every 3 months. I personally think it's nice.

My hair looks just like that if not kinkier. In fact my mom was just telling me yesterday that my hair doesn't look like I permed it at all.

I have very coarse hair that doesnt seem to get bone straight unless I go over the time. People often think I'm natural. Rollersets straighten it out for a few days and then it's back to kinky. Not sure what to do. I use a regular strength relaxer. I used to use super but I dont really want to use it again. I dont want to change my relaxer either.

I'm thinking about doing a corrective but I'm not sure.

I started off that way underprocessing. Then I just fell in love with my curls and thickness that I've never looked back. No MORE bone straight relaxers for me. Your hair is more versatile. You can flat iron straight as a pin, wash and go back to kinky curly hair. There are pics in my profile if you want to check it out.

I say just go with it...

BTW the first pic in my siggy is me bone straight. When I stopped doing that, my hair flourished.

:yep: My hair is the exact same way. I think relaxers have a limit to what they can straighen. If your hair is naturally less coarse and naturally has a looser a curl, a relaxer might make your hair appear bone staright. However, if your hair is naturally more coarse and kinkier, it won't look as straight as the former. It will look straighter nevertheless, but it just won't be as straight as the former without changing the conditions ( i.e. keep it on longer time, stronger relaxer, even flat ironing more when dry etc), because it can only do so much.

My relaxer stays on my hair 20 mins, and it still looks texlaxed.... so I just claim it , but if we all have different textures, thickness, and curl patterns initially, how can all of our hair look the same with a relaxer anyways? What's the exact definition of texlaxed, if our starting textures vary so much, ya know?

I like my hair, though. I just know my air-dried or even rollerset hair, will not be as straight as other people's hair. I don't want to change the conditions to get straighter hair either. I did it when I was younger, and my hair was so weak. I enjoy what I have.

I agree. It can be annoying at times but I'm learning to accept it. Your hair has grown so much!! :yep:

I edited my post a lot.... It's a bad habit.

Thank you Locabouthair! It's still much thicker, and I have to put more time into it as well... especially rollersets. I think I'm gaining strength in my arms, though!

Yup- it's normal. My hair looks the same, if not kinkier. My hair is just coarse, I have so accepted it- it is what it is. My hair will only relax to the point of texlax,I used to think of it as a curse and now I realize that it is a blessing. My only regret is that it wouldn't revert so quick when I exercise, or when it is humid outside, lol. But I think there is something I can buy that could probably help that.
