okay.. so I know I may get stoned to death for this but Its just something I've been thinking for a long time since I joined this site..

Why are alot of you sticking to the story that "white" hair does not grow faster than "black" hair..and that it grows the same its just all about retention....

doesnt make sense to me..

Do you all think that if You take a white woman and a black woman. Cut both their hair to neck length...wait..we'll have to put the black womans hair in cornrows.. and then we'll wait about 3 or 4 months to to see who's hair has gotten longer..

Now the reason I say put the black womans hair in cornrows, so that in the end there will be no arguments on " the white woman retained more length"

While in cornrows for 3 or 4 months she has no choice but to retain all the length..atleast long enough for us to see the growth..right??

I was just thinking about this white lady who went to jail with chin length hair. I followed the story on nancy grace for about 3 or 4 months and the next time she appeared in court her hair down to atleast armpit
Now thats fast growth!

How many black women do you think would have grew hair that long, that fast? IN JAIL!?

I'm not saying that it is not possible but its definately not the norm..
I'm just saying..

IN MY OPINION, white people's hair grow alot faster!

This is my story and I'm sticking to it!!

If anyone thinks I'm wrong...prove it:yep:

I dont think theres a single solitary person on this board that isnt well aware that white peoples hair grows faster then black people's hair on average or would argue otherwise. Everyone knows that.

What does that have to do with anything? Why does it matter what white peoples growth is or isn't? We'd be much better off if we put more focus on retaining all our own growth and maintaining healthy strands. The growth on another races hair has no affect on me and I dont lose any sleep over it.

I agree with you, Teysmith. That's why I don't understand why people here assume you have to be narrow minded to think white or even mixed people have a faster growth rate. * shrugs and sighs* I,too, would like to see proof.

We are all human beings and we all perform the same bodily functions.

Kinky hair breaks much more, but the actual growth rate is not slower imo. You have white and black people who are fast growers and white and black people that are slow growers.

Believe that you have some type of alien texture and growth pattern if that makes you happy. *shrug*

I live with someone with type 1 hair... completely normal growth rate. 6 inches per year. My hair grows a little faster than his lately.

I think "white" hair grows faster because its straight. Where as "black" hair has coils which takes longer to surface from under the skin. That's just my theory. It makes me feel better.

It might be true, but that's not the reason why I joined this board. I knew that my hair had the potential to grow long so I came here to get some tips. Its definitely working and my hair is retaining length. I don't have time to compare my hair to another ethnic group.

Exactly (the bolded) :yep:
Since it doesn't play a role in how fast MY hair grows, it is irrelevant but I do understand that it is your opinion and we all have them...

sorry ..but I've seen so many threads where people tries to argue the fact..
It just kind of made me think that alot of ladies here was in denial...And I got kind of annoyed..:ohwell:

I've seen quite a few arguments to the contrary. They state that our hair grows the same, we just have retention issues, so I wouldn't say that "everyone knows that". And honestly, on average, I don't have a clue what is actually the truth and the scientific evidence is always too sketchy for my taste.

I do, however, completely agree with the second half of your post. :yep:

OT: Are you referring to Casey Anthony who allegedly murdered her 2 year old daughter? Just curious...

While the growth of white women and mixed women's hair does not affect us or may not be the reason we joined the board, it has been discussed on this here plenty of times. When someone does admit that there is a difference in these threads, it always regarded as ignorance ( I think that's the reason for this thread....... to say it's not ignorance but the truth).

I know of 2 white girls (sisters) 1 year apart in age, the older one had strait hair, waistlength, the sister has wavy hair shoulder length.

The 2nd gal's hair has never made it to APL even when blowdried strait.
Genetics differ even in siblings. :look:

Okay I feel you teysmith. I've never seen people make those arguments myself, would never argue that......mostly because its like who cares? That doesn't affect me lol.

^:yep: I'm more concerned with the best techniques to continue to see and retain growth within my growth potential, why sit around and worry what white folks got? Like really? They gonna help me out with an extra 6 inches of hair?.......... No? Then imma keep doin me and swingin my hair:cool2:

I think allot of people cut their hair entirely too much. Also everyone automatically thinks that every person can not grow more than .5 inches a month. I also have noticed that any woman with long hair, usually isn't hair obsessed. They just leave their hair alone.

I beleive it also has to do with what you think. If you think your hair will only grow .5 inches a month, or if you think your hair will not grow. that may have some effect on it too.

lol. yes..I was going to explain who she was but I thought that would be a bit too much...still havent slamed the death penalty on that helfa yet!!:nono:

I think that fact is true and it iis relevant because it plays a part in our own and society's perception of our hair.

I think a lot of the ppl who will say it does not matter have already grown their hair long.

Neith, I don't know what you are talking about because all the Asian and white ppl I know have hair that grows much faster than ours.

I grew up in a diverse area, but I was in denial until I had 2 white rommates who washed and blowdried their hair every morning and it still grew longer twice as fast as mine while I was rollersetting and DCing and protective styling.

I think it depends more on the person and not on the race. Some peoples hair just grow fast lol... I think what is more true is that men hair grows faster than women. :P

OT: By any chance are you talking about Casey Anthony? If so her hair did get long! She's like a celebrity here in Orlando.

Now back to your regular discussion

Edit: Nvm. Found my answer.

I wasn't going to post in this thread, but this just so happened to be the EXACT thought I just had reading through it *shrugs*...

Honestly.....

I think that if this board or the information that we share here daily were available 50 or even 100 years ago to EVERY BLACK WOMAN OF EVERY HAIR TYPE, I don't think we'd be having this discussion right now.

I think we'd have hair lengths that would rival any race.

It's retention that is the problem. Not faster hair growth.

There are plenty people on this board that believe white and black hair grow at the same rate.

I don't care what study is done, I will always believe that their hair rate is faster than our's. Yes, retaining length is important but I don't believe thats the total difference.

I'm so surprised that no one has commented on another thread about a lady who has done a BKT and someone asked her what race she is and she said, just black. Now come on, black is not a race and to me, its really deceiving. We all know, whether we agree or want to admit it, what everyone views as 'black hair' is not type 3 hair. You definitely have a mixture of ethnicity if you have type 2-3 hair. But lets keep the PC threads going:nono:.... THANKS ORIGINAL POSTER FOR SAYING SOMETHING!:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:

I refuse to admit it because I don't believe it. :ohwell: And I really don't see why it matters. :nono:

to the bolded, i have a white home girl with type 1 hair and she told me she hasnt had a hair cut since she was in elementary school and she's barely bsl... i on the other hand have cut huge chops through out my life and my hair is longer than hers.

i've always based hair growth on the person and not race... i think your parents growth, your diet, your environment, and the ways you care for your hair have more to do with growth than ethnic back ground. but i'm no professional so i dunno lol
