Ok, so now that you have my attention can someone please start a class complete with outline, pointers, etc!

Supergirl and Tee, I'd like to sign up for the Silky Air Dried Hair please.

Tons of classes...
Freshman classes - Introduction in to understanding proper care for hair types, (understanding Moisture/Protein and proper way to handle hair)
Sophmore classes - Understanding Relaxers, and relaxed hair (Learning the proper way to apply relaxer, and many other things)
Junior classes - Understanding ingredients and what they do (Get really really technical.. i mean really really...)
Senior year - A lot of technical stuff of previously taught stuff.
Elective classes - Transitioning and natural hair support, class on Long term stretching, and styles, class on weaves, and fake hair.

All that would give an IN-DEPT understanding of all topics about good hair care for relaxed heads. I know i didn't mention it all it would take all night.

What I'd like to learn is .... An in-dept and solid understand of of ingredients and an understanding how to create a balance for your self.

I'd teach a basic course like an Intro class. Intro to relaxed hair.

What should be taught here?

The Importance of Protein, Alternative Hair Cleansing Methods (Co-washing, baking soda, acv, etc..), Moisture, No Heat Styles, Air drying loose (without braids, buns, twists etc...)

What would you be interesting in learning?

Caring for Double Processed Hair 101 (In the future I'd like to use permanent color)

If you taught a class, what would it be? Ummm probably roller setting

First off, Thanks Very Much for this thread, Tee

I definitely agree with stretching

Clarify when alot of product is used on the hair.

DONT WASH HAIR AFTER TAKING DOWN WIG/WEAVE UNTIL THROUGHLY DETANGLED!

Also please consider a couple of weeks before relaxing after taking down braids

Solitude, great list. I especially like your #8 ;)

Advanced How not to Look a HAM, 101
Required Textbook: Just Because Your Hair is Relaxed Doesn't Mean You Shouldn't Be Styling It and Keeping It Just as Cute as Natural Heads.
by Lady Raider, PHD.

All natural heads aren't cute and I know you know that! HAM's happen with both relaxed and natural heads. I understand the point you are trying to make, but blanket statements like this take us down the wrong road!

To the Red bold: Come on now, no pain no gain. We will need you to give up a few Fridays every month okay. :giggle:

What should be taught here?
*Hair Restoration 101- This course could teach you the science behind which key ingredients aid in replenishing the nutrients relaxers take away.

*Swinganomics- The art of getting that blingy, "Salon Swang" in a healthy way.

What would you be interesting in learning?
I want to learn healthy hair discipline. How to get over my hair anxiety, hands in hair ocd, and stretching procrastination. Also, have the patience to put my hair away, nourish, and baby it till I reach my healthy hair goals...

If you taught a class, what would it be?

*Ceramides!!! Natural vs man-made, how to use them and why are they so important for relaxed hair.

Its The Remix!!! Are your hair products not working for you? Learn about some cool, funky, product combinations to get the most out what you thought was a waste of money....

Ok..... This thread is the best idea ever. This really needs to be put into fruition. I can see my major being "Full blunt Classic Length" and graduating with my "Healthy Hair Degree" :lachen:

Can we maybe have a class a week on these topics..
once a week we have the pro's on the topic and we do a different topic once a week..

Oh yes! Ive done so much research I could have written a term paper.:yep: Here is the thread that got it started for me

http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=131270&highlight=ceramides

OMG!!! This is it! (I think!) When I was using all Nexxus products on my hair, I had no issues. Now that I've switched over to Phyto, my hair isn't the same. It's healthy but something is different. I think this may be it!!

Thank you so much for posting this!!! I think I'm going to go back to Nexxus for the first half of 2010 and see if I notice a difference!!

This is totally my Aha moment!! And it came just in time because I am really starting to hate my slow growing hair!!! Again, thank you so much!!!

Porosity

PH level

Effects of Hard Water vs. Soft water

Chelating 101

Identifying relaxer damage (Advanced class)

Self Relaxing vs. Salon Relaxing

Dang Tee....you drive a hard bargain....aight I guess. I can tell I'm going to be in the principal's office all the time. :lachen:

too cute not to use. :giggle:

Supergirl,

I wish you could teach classes on everything! Your hair is beautiful. I can only dream!!:lick:

Classes that I would have taken when I was relaxed...

1. You dont NEED a relaxer: this class would open up the possibility of living relaxer-free that many of us did not realize existed...this class could lead to an alternative major in natural hair though many of the classes would overlap.

2. Hair myths: grease is not moisturize, trimming does not grow your hair etc....

3. Take Back the industry: this would be for entreprenuours (sp?) who want to start their own salons, schools, or product lines.

4. Heatless styles: 'nuff said...

You would also have an advisor that helped you set and achieve your hair goals during your tenure.

I think the same things I mentioned in the other thread would apply here only think of them with regards to relaxed hair.

THE POWER OF THE MIND - Mental shifting of what was and is to come. - What you did in the past may not or will not work for your hair in order to have it be the best in a relaxed state.

MAKING A NEW NORMAL - In personal Hair Perception - Comparisons to others could and may hurt your hair.

Hair tools, utensils and toys - The good the bad and the ugly.

Scissors - Friend or Foe

OK, who's contacting one of those online Universities to get this hair education movement going???

I think all the major issues have been covered (stretching, moisture/protein balance, rollersetting, styling, etc.)

I would love to see this IRL. So tired of seeing BW with jacked up heads of hair and the ones who seemingly have healthy hair don't want to share their "secrets".
