This course is an introduction to communicating with cultures with European heritage when the topic is AA hair. After completing this course, you will be a spokesperson for all Africans of every nationality. You will have the ability to transform a sideshow event into a fulfilling non-violent educational opportunity.

subtitled - How not to slap the mess out of other African Americans for wanting to always have something to say about your hair.


This course is an introduction to communicating within the AA community when the topic is AA hair. After completing this course, you will be the spokesperson for non-processed Africans of every nationality. You will have the ability to educate and defend personal choices with regards to natural hair. During the lab portion of this class, you will build your physical strength and endurance to run from a mother or grandmother's small tooth comb and strengthen your neck in order to keep your head up high.

Advanced Bunning 320

Pre-requisites: Low manipulation 101 and Bunning 101

This course offers a wide variety of information concerning bunning, technique and theory. Those who complete the course will be able to identify hair friendly tools for bunning, as well as have complete knowledge of how to use sticks and forks, and not rely on elastics. They will also be able successfully discredit anyone who states that buns are boring or unsexy.
 
why doesn't this school exits now?! esp. using protein fillers before straightening.

It would re-inforce the principles in detangling 101

Introduce how to properly S&D, dust and trim your hair
Discuss natural growth expectations for APL BSB/BSL MBL WL and etc


Would include a lab component to ensure enrollees were using continued healthy hair practices with growing lengths

lab course would also evaluate this naturals heat styling techniques to try and avoid long term goals

Pre reqs: for (2) year plus naturals
Course description: The aims of the course is reinforce the principles learned in the lower division courses so that naturals heads can continue to see progress. As hair grows and becomes longer the ends need more attention since they are the oldest part of the hair. This course will teach students how to retain the growth and achieve great lenghts



I would def sign up for this one once I hit my 2 year HHJ mark!!!!! dont wanna loose all my progress... or worse be stuck at a particular length for an extended period of time.

The course will examine how romantic/sexual relationships affect the hair and other aesthetic decisions of women of color.

Hair & Media (AA 243/COMM 243)

The course will examine the media's representation of the hair-based beauty aesthetic and its effects on our decisions regarding our hair.

Am I Black Enough For You? (FA 245/AA 245/ HIST 245)

A comparative examination of hairstyles during the "Jim Crow", "Harlem Renaissance" and "Black Power" eras.
 
What would the senior capstone project be???? Hmmmm....I'm thinkin you would be required to 1) write a paper on your regime. including an analysis the products use. 2) demonstrate your detangling technique. 3) create 5 protective styles.

Great minds think alike. This is what I was thinking.

You could also have a Denman 101 course that breaks down all the diff types there are and which ones would best suit diff hair textures.

I would sooo want to take these courses!

Another course, Determine Your Personal Hair Styles 101, Heat Free Hair Styles for different events/occasions and Confidence 101, 201 and 300. Stop caring so much what other people think and rock that beautiful natural hair!

I believe the Avoid PJ'ism course would stay full. LOL. There'd be an impossible waiting list then again, some still might be in denial and not want to take up that class b/c it would ruin their flow. :lachen:

Political Correctness 101-How to keep you head up and dodge sabotagers.

Self-Trimming 101- what dusting, S&D's are and how to do a basic self trimm

SHS 101-How to stay away for scissors happy stylists, how to identify stylists who are scissor happy.

Cuts 101-how to get the cut you actually asked for by having the right techniques to get your point across.

Product Junkie Weekly Support Group open to all students-help identify yourself or friends with this problems and how to help them cut down, streamline and adapt with less products that do more.

Self Styling 101- how to use heat, heat protectants, and styling products.

Nutrition, Vitamins, and Growth Aides 101-basics of nutrition and vitamins for hair and body, growth aides and how they work, debunk bogus products who don't do what they claim.

Deep conditioning 101-what conditioners and/or ingredients to use, how to use them.

Semester 2
Protective Styling Advanced-from APL to WSL and beyond, focus on more intricate styling options for naturals.

Styling Products-identify ingredients, how to use the right ingredients for your hair, covering gels, mousses, hairsprays, sheens pomades, hair grease and more...

Political Natural Hair Correctness 201- when to educate and when to react, how to react without ending up in jail for assault and battery.

Moisture 201-advanced principles of moisturizing using knowledge of ingredients and what they do to and for your hair to find you best moisturizers and how to retain length.

Proteins 201-advanced principles of using protein, the difference between light and heavy portein treatments and when they should be used. How to correct protein over-usage.

Self-Trimming and Self Styling 201- more dusting, S&D' techniques, self styling and how to avoid high priced salons and treatments and do them at home. Keeping your length as it grows.

Cuts 201-how to get the cut you actually asked for by having the right techniques to get your point across. Including how to avoid the pitfalls of stylists trying to cut off your progress and avoiding high priced salons.

Semester 3
Advanced Deep conditioning-making your own concoctions.

Advanced Oils and Into to Natural oils-in depth study of how carrier and thicker oils work on the hair shaft, their molecular properties for pre-shampooing treatments, hot oil treatments, moisturizing and or sealing

Relaxer Happy Stylists how to identify those stylists who don't want to deal with natural hair before getting in the chair.

Nutrition, Vitamins, and Growth Aides 201-advanced series of nutrition and vitamins for hair and body, growth aides and how they work, debunk bogus products who don't do what they claim.
