Why bring this up? Shima is a sore spot for some LHCFers. All I can say is you cannot take pictures of people on this site and quote them without asking and acting as if they used your advice to get to where they got. :spinning:

She has really nice hair. I get the message but the delivery is :perplexed to me.
 
I've been here for a while and I was not aware of Shima or her -gate. It's pretty interesting. Her hair is beautiful.
 
I wasn't around during the Shimagate either but hopefully something good will come out of this.

I really wish people would stop bringing up Shima. We have a search function here, and it can be used to find out if youtube videos have been discussed already.

I'm so over people playing the victim. Shima didn't have to prove her hair was real, but she did this YT video because she enjoys the attention. 'Oh I'm a victim, another black woman people accuse of wearing a weave...blah blah blah'. Who gives a damn really? I think some black women enjoy playing the victim when it comes to hair. People think my hair is fake all of the time, so what? It doesn't bother me in the least. I sometimes think people's lips, butts, breasts, and hair is fake, too. That's the superficial world we live in, get over it.
 
This is the first time I've ever heard of her. I'm an OLD member of LHCF, but this Shimagate must have occurred during my hiatus. I love her hair! And so far at the some of the other vids I've skimmed--she IS a source of entertainment as well! *subscribed to YT channel* :D
 
I hate her voice, I can listen to her for a few mins at best, I want to scream move the mic back some please. Her hair is gorgeous, but there are other videos on YT I'd rather watch.
 
I heard on shima on another hair board a few days ago. It sounds like she has good info. However, I can not listen to her. I do not like the way she speaks. Her hair is very very pretty. From everything I have heard about her. I think it was bad what she did ae nd that everyone should let the past be the past. It looks like she enjoys the attention. Nowadays it seems like everyone is wearing something fake wether it is hair, nails, breast, butt...etc. I am hear to learn about hair not about shima and what she did.
 
Her hair is lovely. I know this has nothing to do with the topic but before I joined this forum I bought her book for $10.99 and everything in it I could have found on LHCF and other hair sites for free. I wish my mama were alive to smack the upside of my head for wasting that money! :(
 
the only time Shima has pissed me off was when she Twitter that she went on a date with a married man:look:

as far as her hair.....i think her hair is banging and she is very passionate about African American Hair Care.
she is also very entertaining:spinning:

i like Shima:yep:....keep doing the damn thang.

"Shimagate" sounds HILARIOUS and made me laugh out loud! Hehe! I love her video, too, and the way she talks is too adorable, to me.

And her hair is GORGEOUS! Loving it... :yep:
 
I looked at some of the comments under one of her videos. Not only do they sound "100%" idiotic and hypocritical, but they make me feel embarrassed as an American. The ignorance in Youtube comments boxes is absolutely appalling.

i was embarrassed for her and:blush:that she even Twitter that mess.
i just remember being upset.

While I don't hate Shima or have anything personal against her...

She has her reputation for a reason. She comes off as weird/off balance and even angry at times. I've seen with my own eyes that she has stolen pictures.


So as far as that, it's her fault. She has done some crazy things (not only "Shimagate"). Of course people are going to remember it and not like her.




As for her hair, I always thought it was real before. I don't know much about lacefronts though. I've seen some things in her vids that make me wonder when I really sat down and paid close attention.

Why do so many think Shima has fake hair... but all the rest of the long haired women who do youtube vids aren't accused of wearing wigs?Again, maybe there is a reason behind it. I don't think anyone here is hating on her because of her hair. We see long hair all over the place. A lot of us have great hair of our own.

I really don't know. If it is hers, she has nice hair. If it's not hers, I want a wig like that. :giggle:

Youtube is a haven for ignorant comments/people. Something about posting anonymously that makes the ugly come out of people.

I think Shima is hilarious and I like her videos because I find her entertaining. I really think that most of those stupid comments don't come from women on the hair boards, including this one.

As far as us being haters... there are people on this board with longer hair and we're not hating on them. I wouldn't have shown my scalp if I were her, but she's selling a product and if that helps her sell more oil hey why not.

A little OT:
Even though I was not familiar with Shimagate, I had seen the name Shima around these parts. I always assumed that the name Shima has something to do with a shemale. I guess that's why I never looked at those threads before today.

Well, this fiasco partly (NOTE: I said partly - I am aware of the Shimagate fiasco) stems from a general holier-than-though 'culture' of posting YouTube videos to berate and mock someone's hair or hair care practices. I wouldn't be surprised if a large number of the women accusing her of wearing a weave are members of this forum. A similar thing happened to Ateyaa, and it seems that we get a 'response video' every year to quell incessant criticism. Damn shame.

The situations with Ateyaaa and Shima are completely different.

People hate Shima because Shima engaged in shady business practices and used several members of the board to do it--including stealing pictures and posting comments as if they were endorsements. People are justifiably angry with her.

People don't hate Ateyaaa. Many people do disagree with her hair care practices and say so.

My post was in response to the OP about Shima's video i.e. her feeling the need to prove her hair is real – which IMO, is PARTLY based on a culture of posting Youtube videos on the forum for critique. Whatever people hate her for is none of my business.

@ the bold, it all depends on what you consider ‘hate’ , and I’m not prepared to go into a debate about that, but many of the comments Ateyaa received about her hair and hair care practices far surpassed ‘mere disagreement’ - which sometimes tends to be the case when people don't follow the 'LHCF' way of caring for hair. Just my observation.

I still can't believe this thread is still open.......I feel the ladies about Shima....I mean I came after the drama.....I used her oil and nothing big happen.....it was ok, but I had so much oil, I couldn't even tell if her oil did anything special....I think it's her real hair and she has beautiful hair......
 
Why do people always assume that when a Shima thread pops it's Shima? Or turn it around into a negative thread I haven't been here very long but that is annoying and seems kind of childish. Once you read the OP you could have kept it moving and just let the thread die like the rest of them. But no people comment and bump it up so drama can be started then complain? Seriously? :rolleyes: Moving along I have watched her videos and sometimes she does come off a little :spinning: but she does have beautiful hair
