SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO OR SHE COULD HAVE BEEN ASKED IN A RESPECTFUL MANNER. Is this not a longhair forum? What happened to us? What went wrong, a change in character or a change in posters?

Sorry to do this. UNDERSTAND THAT THERE WERE SOME LIARS IN THE PAST that caused people to question, but I put myself in this situation and it really troubled me that there was such 'animosity' and rumors and accusations and ridicule flying. I still do not understand how or why that could have happened and I have been on this forum for a long time. BUT I DID NOT THINK THIS GIRL DESERVED THE DISRESPECT AND RIDICULE FOR HER ACCENT, ( I also have an accent according to a lot of people), FOR HOW SHE COMBS HER HAIR, (SOME OF US ONLY COMB IN LITTLE BITTY SECTIONS FROM THE BOTTOM UP AND SHE IS COMBING FROM THE TOP DOWN) BUT I hope that no one else is ever treated like this on this forum ever again. I think her hair is gorgeous and REAL.
 
You did not resurrect the spirit of Shima. That whole thing was hilarious but I simply don't give a good damn. No hate, just fact.

I believe this video has been posted already months back...

I understand her motivation, but feel This video is a complete waste of cyberspace. Haters are always going to hate regardless of how many "Look this IS my real hair, and not a 18 inch Yaki" videos you do. Let them hate and KIM...

I do not believe that one should have to prove anything to their cyber community because their are so many more pressing issues in the real world that need adressing...

Just a few random thoughts...
 
I am happy she did show her scalp. I loved her Nelly remix. Even though she did 50-11 parts some people will still find something to say. It is what it is.
 
It shows how we feel about ourselves as black women. I know some other black women that have really really long hair, and they go through the same thing. If anything, we should be striving to be where they are, and not using our insecurities as a see-saw to put other people down. As far as accent, all Americans have an accent, it just so happens that everyone in America has an American accent, but step into the rest of the world and they don't talk like you. Jealousy is a sad real thing in the world.
 
Never heard of her and I don't know what the controversy is all about. Could someone give me the short version of what is going on. Thanks

She really does have some gorgeous hair.
She is also a good source of entertainment.

but apparently back in 07 yes it goes that far back
Shima joined LHCF, at some point she took quotes from other ladies on LHCF and used them on her website to promote her hair oil.

Some of the ladies on LHCF got rather livid
a lot of the post concerning her now get locked right away. This one may get locked soon as well

She posted an apology
It became affectionately known as ShimaGate:grin:

And now every now and then Someone will post a thread like this bringing the mess back up again

that's the long and short of it.

people accused her hair of not being real (weave) and told her to prove it by showing her scalp. She was also accused of not being black.

Ahh yes, Shimagate.....that one goes way back. A lot of newer members probably don't have a clue about that one. Her name sparks a lot of bad feelings around here.

I don't have anything against her and I didn't get personally involved in the mess that happened years ago but I can definitely see how members would be mad at what she did.

I watch her vids and I think she has beautiful hair and informative videos. I also think she does a lot to help black women grow long healthy hair which is admirable.

Not too long ago she stole one of sistaslick's photos and put it up on her video, the video got taken down after all the lhcfers called her out on it on youtube!:lachen:
 
I'm not up on the "shimagate" situation, I'm assuming it was something bad. But, I have seen her videos before. I can't really sit through them unless I turn the volume down. It's not the accent or her voice, but it's how she talks. Something about it makes me think she's batsh*t crazy.

Anyway, I guess her hair is ok, but I can't say I'm envious. If I were, I'd say so in a heartbeat.

Like I said I don't have anything personally against Shima but she was wrong in doing what she did that's why she got the negativity that she did. She is not just an innocent victim.

If my quotes and name got taken, misconstrued and used for her personal gain I'd be upset too.
 
Wow...I knew nothing about this. The entire time she was talking I wasn't paying attention, though. I was just staring at her hair!!! It's SO pretty.

yea OP, i was wondering about that too. you've been on this board forever and a day. you can't tell me you haven't heard of shima-gate before

i haven't been here nearly as long and i've heard about shima and shima gate 50/11 times already.
 
Honestly, I don't get her... I'm not hating I'm just being honest reason being: why take quotes from a forum u belong to that is about helping but since she apologized fine all is forgiven BUT besides that she refers to her subscribers as "shimagirls" lol who said they were her's, she bosses them around saying things like you better do this and she has fits of rage and then apologizes lol
but back on topic the number one reason I don't get her is because I get maybe wanting to prove something to people you actually know which is still pointless because people think what they think regardless of proof that's why it's called an opinion not based on fact.
But ONLINE??? It's frickin YOUTUBE COME ON lol so what someone says your hair is fake, be offended for a minute then get over it. So what people want to see your scalp if they say your mind is fake are you going to attempt cutting a circle around your skull to show them it's real? To have the entrepreneurial sense to make a business she lacks the common sense to not allow anyone to define what should does or how she does it. Even her angry vids she had, she apologizes saying her subscribers had to set her straight LOL come on if it's YOUR channel and YOU want to vent your anger DO IT! Not that I approve but who cares it's not mine. Hmmm okay thats out of my system and once again it's no hate I really appreciate black business owners but as she said she isn't "100%" lol like that matters but I want to buy from people who are who they are and give off a positive genuine vibe OYIN for example all their products don't work great for me but I love that they're family owned, seem genuine, and offer you information instead of trying to make you have "long fairytale mythical gorgeous hair" lol kinda cocky if ya ask me but I guess no one did lol ah the power of freedom of speech one last thing I really think her channel hurts her more than it helps but hopefully 2010 will be a new start for us all. ok I'm done now lol

Well I've been a member here since nearly the beginning (and even before on Yahoo) and I had no idea about it until someone told me. I kept seeing it ref'd in posts, but the details were missing. Some of us take LOOOOOoooooG breaks because of the drama and sometimes we miss additional drama. Many of the threads on this matter were deleted too. This situation was absurd and best forgotten, IMHO. shrug
