I henna (with indigo) once a month, I don't colour anymore because it broke my hair.
Henna conditions and strengthens hair, so as long as you're conditining and moisturizing you shouldn't get any breakage.How long have you been doing it once a month? Have yo unoticed any breakage with the henna/indigo?
I did my first henna/indigo treatment about 5 weeks ago and I'm almost ready to do another![]()
how often do you color or henna?
I 2 step henna/indigo generally based on the sight test(how much grey can I stand, IOW) than a set schedule, but no more frequently than 1x per month and sometimes quite a bit longer.
No 2 step is adding henna, waiting and then rinsing after a while. Then adding indigo and doing the same.So you mix the henna and indigo together and then apply....?
No, not for myself (I do this for my mother...it's called a 1 step). For myself I do a 2 step...I do the henna 1st (then rinse) and then the indigo as a separate step.
A 1 step is for reddish-brown hair...you can make it more or less red w/ your henna/indigo proportions. Want less red, use more indigo than henna, want it more red, use less indigo. You dye release your henna and then right before use mix your indigo up w/ warm water and some salt and let it stand for about 10 mins....then you add your indigo to your henna and make sure you keep it well mixed when applying it.
A 2 step is for BLACK...except for my few greys, my hair is VERY black, so if anything I wanna go even DARKER w/ blue tones(That's an oddness of black haired people, they want more darkness...this is why Bigen dye exists and ayurvedic herbs/oils are always noted for the darkness they impart
)
BM do you use the henna w/o indigo just staying red? I'd go back to the henna mami. $18 is a lotta bread compared to $2...LOL![]()
I do the two step process but my hair is more of a reddish dark brown. When you are very gray like me, I find it's hard to get your hair black and stay there...bummer![]()
