I henna whenever I see gray hair and leave in on overnight and what I've noticed is that everytime I do that, my urine comes out black. I've mentioned this before and it seems like I'm the only person this has happened to. I recently spoke with an Indian woman and I forgot to ask her about the urine issue, however what I did learn is not to use shampoo to remove the henna, she said I should use plain water to get the henna out.

What?? :blush::blush::blush:

That is very weird/strange....that would freak me out!

I've never heard of something like that happening before...I've only henna'ed once but I didn't leave the henna or indigo on overnight.

I use this.

Black Rose Kali Mehndi Powder Hair Dye Black is a henna based powder hair dye for colouring gray hair in black. Indias largest selling henna based powder hair dye.

It is a henna based powder hair dye for coloring gray hair in black. It is India’s largest selling henna based powder hair dye. It is India’s first powder hair dye to be accredited with ‘ISI’ mark. Its color stays on hair for 20-25 days.
Ingredients: Herbal Henna, Barium Peroxide, Citric Acid, Paraphenylenediamine.
Sale Price: $5.99

I touch up my hairline maybe every 6 weeks - sometimes more often, my hair grows in spurts. Like, overnight. It works well, doesn't dry or damage my hair. I've been using it for two years now.

I also bought Rainbow Indigo from Whole Foods, but I've yet to use it.

Where did you buy this Mehndi Powder Hair Dye? Whole Foods?

I colored w/permanent color(the front of my hair w/Clairol Textures and Tones -it's ammonia free) the first time in September. I don't plan to color again until the spring. Plan to continue using permanent color every 6 months. I've been using cellophanes (Sebastians) on my entire head every few 2-3 months. I've experienced zero damage. I've been diligent in washing (sulfate free shampoo) and deep condition every week.

What you are using is not pure henna. This product has a chemical dye in it which can cause skin reactions in some people. :sad:http://www.hennaforhair.com/ppd/index.html I am happy that you have not had any reactions to this product but I wanted you to be aware for future use. I use a mixute of henna, amla, and indigo to get my hair very dark.

Yep, I kid you not, my urine gets black and it only happens when I use Henna. I don't remember how long it stays that way but not more than a day.

The next time I'm in Queens, NY I'm going to ask one of the Indian Ladies if she knows of anyone that ever happens to. I was thinking of taking a urine test when this happens to see what the doctors says.

I henna and indigo my hair line every 2-3 weeks. As soon as the gray on my hairline is too prominant. I henna and indigo my entire head about once every 6-8 weeks.

This has happened to me as well. I freaked out and drank tons of water.:look:

This happens to me too. Please see the following Forum Post from Catherine Cartwright Jone's "Henna For Hair Forum"....its nothing to worry about.

Green Urine

My "colored" urine is usually the first pee for the morning for me. I sleep with my henna 2x's per month. The color is gone after my first morning urination. I also am a heavy water drinker, so I don't fear anything that can be "washed" out through pee.

Anyway....if you check the Henna for Hair forum, you'll see quite a few of us have colored urine depending on what brand, or how long we sit with henna. Again...its harmless.

Wow I have never had the urine incidents with henna or the indigo but I don't sleep with either of these on my hair. I would have a mess in my bed sheets if I did that.

Using the instructions noted, I normally get black hair with henna/indigo.

I try to do it every month but my hair has been on a little growth spurt since August so I've been doing it about every two weeks or so.

I try to henna about once per month, oftentimes don't get to it but every 4-6 weeks. My goal is to cover my grey but I think I'm failing miserably. I never found the balance of covering them completely without using indigo and I do NOT want black hair so I just accept the reddish color that my grays turn.

Misseyel, you are not alone. I don't sleep in my henna, only leave it on for 3 hours, but I usually have one "black/ dark urine" each time I henna. :look:
