Hi Everyone!!! I am so upset!!!

I was checking in at the airport and gave my bags to the lady to put on the place the bags go. Anyway I checked in the stuff and my daughter and I went to the security gates.

Well she said mommy my book bag, the lady took my book bag. I was like what?? I then realized I had given the baggage lady my daughters book bag instead of my "hair" care bag. :wallbash: Because we were running LATE (we had 5 minutes to get to the gate)!

I could not turn back.. As we stood there taking off our shoes I was like SHOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTT they are going to take my stuff. I'm talking Shea butter, coconut oil, oil sheen, wave noueav, conditioner mix, etc. But I could not turn back or I would have missed my plane. My sister who dropped me off was already gone.

So there I was standing there dreading putting the bag on there... It was a black guy and I was like take what ever you need to out because I checked in the wrong bag. The black lady standing there was shaking her head. :nono: like that good stuff is going to waste!!!! :perplexed I was just like what ever you have to do please do it quickly.

Anyway, I now have to rebuy most of my staple products. I should have put them in smaller containers instead of taking the whole thing but that would have been too much like right. Anyway, I am on my way to go shopping. But shoot!!!!!!!! I guess I will know for next time.

How long were you traveling for? You were paying extra to take all that stuff? You could have use that $20 to buy more hair products

I feel your pain. That 3 ounce rule is the worst thing ever. I was upset once for losing a brand new bottle of mouthwash. From what I know about the security rules, all your good stuff will get thrown out.

OOOOH GIRRRRL! I feel your pain! A similar situation happened to me back in May when we were going on our cruise. Silly me forgot to put my spray moisturizers and oils in my checked luggage and had them in my carry-on. Since I had already reached my limit I had to pay an additional $25 to check my carry-on luggage in because I just HAD to have my moisturizers! I know you say why not just buy more where I was going. Well, we were going to the Caribbean and the kind of moisturizer I use they only sell it in a couple of places in the U.S. let alone the Caribbean. Plus I didn't wanna run around trying to find somewhere off the resort area to find something comparable.

I thought about all of my options and it was either pay that $25 or let my hair go bone dry.

:thud:Oh HELLLLL NO!!!

It woulda been poppin off in that airport:boxing:

The Brooklyn woulda came outta me wit the quickness.

Thats just a no-can-do situation:nono:

 j/k

..........but I sure woulda been tiiiiight:nono:

I'm sooooo sorry sweety!:hug3:

That is just outrageous:ohwell:

I'm so sorry to hear that. OMG that happened to me once! I had a whole bottle of braid sheen thrown away. I learned the hard way.

Almost happened to me two months ago - I shipped my stuff home from Florida via 2 Day Priority flat-rate. Cost about $9.00, but it saved me a whole lot more cuz I had picked up some BKT down there.
What on earth is a terrorist gonna do with some BKT, some oil and conditioner? Threaten to straighten and condition everybody's hair? Even Macguyver can't do nothin' with that! I think they're taking security a little too far.

That's okay. At least you know where your products went vs. them being lost or stolen and not knowing what happened to them. That would bug me more than me chosing to let the stuff go in the trash.

wow that sucks i would be PISSED
im sure the people who work at the airport..find nice stuff to "take home"

I totally understand where your coming from...You do realize had this played out your way, would lead to sitting in TSA and not getting on the plane..

Yeah the rules are real strict now...for carry ons they cannot be anymore than 3 oz and have to fit inside a average size ziploc type bag...if you have something larger, you do have the option to check your luggage otherwise it will be thrown away...(worked for the Department of Homeland Security in my former life)...also any items that are thrown away...the custodians/janitorial staff usually rack up on it (even though they are supposed to throw it away)....

In all honesty...I know the majority of the airport have signs all over the place and often times they repeat it incessantly over the loud speaker...most airlines have this info on their websites but this has been enacted for almost 2 years

It sucks and as sad as it is...this is the world we live in!!!

Shoediva is right....it is not worth missing your flight, being embarrassed- as sometimes if you tend to "act up" they will call the laws and you will be subject to some ridiculous a** fine while watching other passengers looking at you as they are getting on their flights...

The airport is the LAST place you want to show out...

OMG, I'd upset for the rest of my day! I don't know what airport security or the government has to say to justify this but I feel its totally unnecessary. I think its creating a false sense of security. If I really want to get my 15 oz VO5 through security I'd either break it up in to three 3 OZ bottles or tape it to my back, lol. I never been patted down once in the the 4 times i been throw airport security in the past 11 months.

I'm very sorry this happened to you, id be angry, then I'd probably take a trip to walmart right after I get off the plane

This almost happened to me when trying to catch a flight for Thanksgiving a couple of years back...........I took a standby flight and just went and had my bag checked in (and it was the airlines fault for my delay). I arrived about a couple hrs later than expected, but a PJs gotta do what a PJs gotta do. Of course this wasn't an option for considering the rest of your family was with you as well :(

Oooh I know that hurts. I almost had about 5 of my beauty products (perfume, expensive Origins' stuff, etc.) tossed out coming home from Puerto Rico. Thankfully my uncle was waiting at the gate and was staying an extra week, so I was able to give it to him for him to transport it back home. That was a close one.

lmaooo!!:lachen: Of course! lol I that was meant to be a funny post.....guess I need to start putting j/k at then end when I crack a joke lol....thats like not even in my personality to do....but I sure woulda been tiiiiiiight:nono:

lol! I know this guys...it was a joke.....I woulda been mad but I'd never comprimise a flight for some hair products. I would be imagining my mom in my head going "Have some tact!!" lol

trust me they will take that ish home if you have stuff in full size containers. i lost a new container of origins body cream that way. I bet they fight over our stuff at the end of their shifts. The 3oz rule is bs!!!

you know how we feel about our coveted hair products---i woulda been so pissed---cuz aint nuttin like some good hair products that work--and youve been saving the last lil drop cuz it gives u that salon look....

esp goin away in another area where u may not even be able to find the good stuff....

CLUTCHES PEARLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:nono:

I can truly say I feel your pain, anguish and ticked offtedness!!! Yeah I said it!!!

Well everyone on the plane was safer for you having to throw out some conditioner and oil. [/sarcasm]

I dunno about all that. I think security would've had to pry the shea butter off my cold, dead hands LMAO

Yeah, they don't allow any liquids/creams bigger than 3 oz - for security purposes.

I sympathize with you, but I'd rather everyone lose their big sized hair and body products than let some nut blow me up on the plane. :look::perplexed:blush::spinning:

ROTFL @Boston. LOL. You know they be keeping the good stuff. Why not? Shoot it's free. Oooooo I am soo mad for you.

MY WORST NIGHTMARE! I had the smallest amount of luggage to pack when I recently was in NY, chile I checked that baby even though it could fit in the overhead, lol. I didn't want to fight bishes at the security gate, lol.
