That is why you never put the good stuff in a carry on. You put in in the checked in luggage. I'm sorry, but you just helped that security guard make his woman happy. I bet they keep the stuff the confiscate.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO oh my god, girl I feel you sis. Man, that is so messed. You should have told them who you were, I am a member of LHCF and we can't do that. You can take just about everything else but not my hair products.

Yep, she sure did she is going to keep everything.

Well that happens when you're rushing. I usually have somebody on stand-by if I'm rushing, because something like that always happens.

I've got it down to a science. Never do carry-on unless it's lipgloss, eye drops, hand sanitizer or something similar. Never, ever, ever, ever put your cosmetics or hair products in a carry-on. The airport security folks probably don't have to do much shopping for cosmetics and toiletries.

Hey everyone! thank you for your sympathy.... I feel a little beter now, but they did not offer to have the bag checked in... After he started digging it all out "ma'm all of this hair stuff will need to be confiscated". I could not even watch him take it out... It's a good thing I still have some stash at home, but I only have 2 more things to order off the net.

In the future I will put stuff in smaller containers just for my trip... hopefully I wont check in the wrong bag either....:wallbash:

OMG, I'd upset for the rest of my day! I don't know what airport security or the government has to say to justify this but I feel its totally unnecessary. I think its creating a false sense of security. If I really want to get my 15 oz VO5 through security I'd either break it up in to three 3 OZ bottles or tape it to my back, lol. I never been patted down once in the the 4 times i been throw airport security in the past 11 months.

I'm very sorry this happened to you, id be angry, then I'd probably take a trip to walmart right after I get off the plane

:lachen::lachen::lachen: You are so right!!! We need an official LHCF badge that will allow for us a special pass to carry on hair care products

You are too funny!!! I think I will make the woman security guard happy too because she looked in amazement..... At least the products wont be gone in vain if they do take them home

thats crazy! i just packed all my full size hair and lotion products in my checked luggage and i was fine. i decided not to do the carry on with the 331 rule because it was just too complicated and risky.

Wow, that is just wrong!! I can't imagine losing my coconut oil (whole foods is NOT cheap!!) and my shea butter?!?! Those are my starting players!! smh. Ur strong, girl. :ohwell:

Check this! We bought expensive liquor to take as gift> Bought in the Caribbean. No problem before, even with the changes. They said No problem. One guy asked, "alchohol?" smiled "REALLY, ALCOHOL?, and said "sorry" you have to send it "fragile" so it won't get broken. So it was marked and designated for FRAGILE. At that point, something said, this dude is gonna smash it! something about the smile and demeanor when I confirmed that it was alchohol going marked 'fragile.' You know those 'feelings' you get about people. i sensed 'spiteful') Suddenly "You can't take that on the plane!" "Are you kidding! They SELL bottles of alchohol on the plane but my unopened FACTORY SEALED bottles are dangerous! But what do we know! Had we been informed ahead of time, when we bought the liquour at the AIRPORT, that it could not be taken on the plane, we would not have bought it. I am talking about 12 bottles. My take is they want to sell the liquor off the plane or from the other airports and take out the competition. Just My opinion, but many people later attested to the same 'sudden restrictions' unless it was purchased on the plane or at the other airports out of the Caribbean.

Anyway, good law abiding hostages that we were, we sent it marked 'FRAGILE'. A whole lot of people are illiterate that handled that FRAGILE SHIPMENT. It arrived at the airport, with every bottle smashed and leaking into the expensive bag it was inside. I knew that I had been right. Had to get rid of the bag.

I wonder if the stewardesses are allowed to take their makeup and tooth paste on the plane. Done any breath checks lately? Their makeup always seems to stay ON point. I wonder if they are allowed to wear and carry ROLLON deodorant? or 'personal' wipes for 'special times'? Are they allowed to have their period on the plane, what with the 'liquids' moisture concern?
Is the real deal about having the power to charge a lot of money for people to travel first class so that they can be sweaty, uncomfortable, chafing and look their worst to make a point that you are nobody at all, yeah, we can reduce you to this, and now they want to see us with our clothes off? But what do I know. All I know is when they start handing out 'free bars of soap', Imo quit flyin'!

I have never seen them take away a bottle of water from any yt person on the plane, but for a sistah, they would turn the plane around, you think? I think!

Ouch! So sorry, but you know those deep conditioner bombs are the worst kind, lethal I tell ya! :210:

Awww.... I remember this exact thing happened to me...
I cried..like big alligator tears.. He threw away like a whole new bottle of OCT... (this was at the peak of the hype).. I too was rushing (long story)... but the TSA dude had pity on me and let me keep some Kenra and vatika oil.

No, I don't think so because any liquids purchases AFTER going through security are allowed on the plane. I am as black as they come and that has been my experience. So, what did you have that made them turn the plane around? :lachen:

I am sorry to hear this :cry4:. Yea, once no one was looking :sekret: the sista got that shea butter and coconut oil out of that garbage can .......I'll bet she was dumpster diving :diver: all the way to the bottom of that garbage can.

Because they want to get me off the plane and then make me drink the water in a contained area, BY MYSELF SO THEY CAN OBSERVE ME FROM THE DOOR AND THEN TAKE ME TO A PUBLIC TOILET TO DO A URINE TEST!!!!lolol! wHO KNOWS THE MIND OF PEOPLE?

We went to a caribbean cruise for thanksgiving of 2007 and everyone bought liquor but they stuffed it in their luggages. It got safetly to it's destination.

OP, i can only imagine.:nono: I'm sorry that happened to you.

yal really need to put that stuff in checked baggage. i think its def worth payin $20 rather than gettin all your stuff thrown away.

Almost happened to me two months ago - I shipped my stuff home from Florida via 2 Day Priority flat-rate. Cost about $9.00, but it saved me a whole lot more cuz I had picked up some BKT down there.
What on earth is a terrorist gonna do with some BKT, some oil and conditioner? Threaten to straighten and condition everybody's hair? Even Macguyver can't do nothin' with that! I think they're taking security a little too far.

I.can't.breathe. :lachen::lachen:

Hmm...if only i worked at the airport...:scratchch

I feel for you lady. I would've wen't through a whole bunch of emotions!

$20 to check a bag full of several hundred dollars worth of products that are not easily and immediately replaceable. It's worth it.

This happened to me as well. I was really stressed at the time and literally bust out bawling in the middle of the airport. Its a good thing i had my cousin with me to cheer me up.
