My SIL gave me a guardian angel pin that I always pinned to my carry-on when I flew from California to the East coast to visit family. I had been back and forth I don't know how many times with it, then one day, at Logan airport, a TSA took it. We're talking an itty-bitty little angel pin; you could barely even scratch yourself with it, let alone unleash hell on a flight. They are unbelievable! It's been 5 years, and I'm still pissed about it.

Shortly after 9/11, an overzealous TSA agent took my Sea Breeze astringent because alcohol is an ingredient. This was BEFORE they had 3 oz limits; it's all going to depend on the agent and the type of day that person is having.

A lot of ppl use the Nexxus Heat Protectant. I feel your pain tho.

I hate the damn airport. The almost threw away all of my Victoria Secret stuff but I refused and called my mom to drive back n pick it up. I woulda missed my NYC flight but thank GOD it was delayed for like an hour.

I would be too! I wish they had another option other than to toss our personal belongings! My SIL was going to turn right around to collect them and mail them to me, but she was already late for work and her boss had given her a hassle the day before for taking time off to spend with me. :perplexed

Have you used the Nexxus? Do you love it? I picked up the Fantasia IC Heat Protectant in the pink bottle and it worked lovely once I figured out the correct amount to smear onto my hair, but I wouldn't mind trying the Nexxus if it is better.

Yeah, I check everything in. Them sons of witches thought they was gone have my Chanel and my Dolce, aaaaannnnddd all of my reaslly expensive hair products. Ms thang took another flight. I'm blessed that I had the luxury of time in order to do that. I was like naw bro man, snatch ma bag from unda neath the plane cause i'm not boarding. They did. I repacked my luggage and went later... Those perfumes alone were 200 bucks. TSA could kiss my tail because nobody is makin no bomb on no plane with a volatile liquid. As soon as you'd open the sucker you'd catch fire. And volatile liquids are handled so very carefully, just the motions from you walking and having it in your bag is enough to make it explode. So in taht case, the fools shouldn't let you enter the airport with it. Lipstick, hair conditioner. PLease! If you keep telling people they're in severe danger, eventually they will believe you. And once they believe you, you can get them to give up all their rights in exchange for your "protection." People aren't as stupid as our gvt thinks we are!

They must have been watching too much macguyver cuz I don't know what I could do on a 40 minute flight with some heat protectant and EVCO...they would seem to cancel each other out to me....:nono:.

TSA's show didn't make me feel any safer either..., but I guess it's job security. I wish I had some dirty underwear in the bag...:spinning: Confiscate that &itch#s!

Well ill chime in because I am a TSA officer and I will say that we do it for your safety. We're not getting on the plane you are.. And the day when someone(got forbid) gets on a plane with liquid explosives and brings it down who do you think they are gonna blame.. You wouldnt understand what can and cannot be done with a bottle of liquid explosives because you have not had training to understand the concept. Im sure you have rules and directives that you have to follow at your place of work well guess what so do we.. And I can understand your frustration but honey the 3-2-1 liquid rule has only been implemented for 3 years now :look: Dont take this post as me venting because im not just wish "the traveling public" would be alittle bit more understanding..

P.S. glad your bro is doing better...

Nothing against you personally, but I don't think you do understand my frustration. We all have a job to do, mine is a paralegal. They left me with the ONE (1) and only explosive I was actually carrying (my lighter) and took my hair care products....:perplexed. They also left me with ALL the sharp implements I was carrying...including empty syringes and TOOK my hair care products...:perplexed. I DID NOT feel any safer without my hair care products and with my dangerous, flammable and sharp implements. Maybe in the 3 years that these rules have been implemented they should have also been reviewed and revised for discretion purposes....:perplexed.

And they did.. It was revised that NECESSARY items such as medicine and water for children and eldery are allowed and it also at the officers discretion. So I guess whomever took your hair products didnt feel they were necessary to have on the plane with you.. And no im not taking your post personally thats why I said what I said in my last post. I just said something because TSA is looked at in a bad light because one bad apple spoils a bunch but we arent all like that. Some of us (like myself) are actually concerned with the safety of the traveling public..

It's good to know that at least my sister in locks is watching my back..., but if you notice some You His + Hers by Luster's and EVCO in your discard bin, please PM me and I will give you my address and postage code to return it to me...:drunk:

So I guess whomever took your hair products didnt feel that they were necessary to have on the plane with you.. And what are you gonna do with a lighter besides smoke? If you have no explosive component such as liquid or solid form there is really nothing you can do with a lighter.. And the minute we start taking away peoples medical supplies that can detrimental to them that will be another issue. Noone is harming anyone with syringes and lighters. I know im not gonna let anyone harm with any of those items. And no im not taking your post personally because everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I just wanted to say something because TSA is looked at in a bad light because one bad apple spoils a bunch but we arent all like that. Msstarr, I totally respect and appreciate the job that you are doing, but seriously....guardian angel pin with the pin about 1/4" long if that? My fingernails are potentially more dangerous than that (seriously, I scratched the H out of my chin earlier today by accident). Granted, the angel pin incident was within a couple of years of 9/11, but still...have you ever confiscated a personal item like that? Please PM me if you don't want to be all public about it, but I am deeply curious.
