I was wearing twist-outs and I was still asked if my hair was real. I can only imagine if I had relaxed hair how many times I would be asked that question. I'm just curious?

I was recently asked in the supermarket if my hair was a weave. When I responded "No" she gave me a very skeptical "I-don't-believe-you" kind of look. She didn't 'root' me, but I could tell that she wanted to. She asked "How did you get your hair like that?" (it was combed straight down after a fresh wash, roller set, and wrap at the salon). Her hair was JACKED and I felt sorry for her. I have decided that when I go in there again, if she asks me about my hair I'm going to give her the web site.
It was very interesting, No one has ever asked me if I was wearing a weave.

I wouldn't have thought that someone would have asked me the question, since my hair is natural. Anyway, I think people just assume AA women can't have long hair.

I wonder will she take your advice? I find some people are open, others are just a slave to their beautican.

About 3 times this past month. All of them are family members who had not seen since july last year. My hair was APL then and I was wearing my hair straight. So the last time we got together (about 2 weeks ago), my hair was in a MBL wash'n go . My cousin was all over my scalp weave-checking me while screaming to the entire room "I can't beleive it, it can't be all yours". I just wanted to die :/ Of course she asked me what I did, I told her about everything I could tell her during a babyshower convo. I hope she will take my advice, but I am quite skeptical ...:)

Do you sometimes get embarrassed when people ask you about or comment on your hair? Most days I wear my hair pulled back in a bun. So when I wear my hair on on rare occasions, people are ridiculous. It's embarrassing to me. Do you feel the same way?

I cant wait to get weave checked...lol..I always wear my hair in braids under a wig, so my hair is never shown:look:

Every single time i decide to wear my hair down i get everybody at work asking me how did i get my hair so long, is it mine, how many boxes of relaxer do i use, does it run in the family, what do i put in it<-----this girl ask me what i put in my hair the other week and my mind went BLANK trying to go over my regimen in my head  so i just said...shea butter....:lachen:

It gets to be annoying sometimes though...especially on my week of the month...don't ask me questions!! :lachen:

When I was younger I would get it often and very rudely. Now I don't really get it anymore. I do get stares when I set in my stylist's chair though. :yep:

No I'm not BSB, MB, or WL, but I cant wait for this to happen. maybe in another year n a half. although back when i had a bob, i was weave checked several times. :giggle:

My friends all know me to have long hair, although occasionally they ask if I am rocking a wig.
but people who don't know me will refer to me as the "girl with the weave", and they have to be corrected:yep:

You get used to it after a while... most people can tell that I'm not the kind of person you just come up to and touch, and will usually just stare or give a compliment and keep staring or ask someone they think knows me.

When I was a girl I would get weave checked for long and short relaxed hair... now most people look and see a lady you don't dare approach in that way.:nono2::look:

Me too! I'll see it as a compliment! :yep: I think...:look:

My hair is always in braids and/or under a wig, so no one gets the opportunity.
I must say that I will be greatly flattered the first time it happens though....I just hope it'll be by someone I know and that they'll have clean hands.

Whoops, never mind, I'm not relaxed.....unless you count a 24 month "stretch", lol.

I'm only about APL, my goal is BSL but I still get weave checked. I think it's b/c I hardly wear my hair out (mostly buns) & I'm natural. So when I straighten my hair and wear it down on occasion I always get the "is that a weave" comments.

It actually makes me very proud to say, no it's my real hair. :yep:

Can't nobody tell me nothing when I get to BSL:lachen:

I just got back from Italy. Everyone I met, who was either Nigerian or Ghanaian, had weave, a wig... something synthetic.

"How much 'Weave-On' do you use?"
"Are you half-cast?" (mixed)
"Who's white in your family?"
"Don't you ever do 'Bob Marley'?" (twists or braids :lachen:)

Let's just say I got a few scalp massages every day I was there. Saved me time and trouble :P lol.

when i was MB .. i was never weave checked .. cuz everyone though it was weave anyways , why check ?

I have been asked if my hair was "all mine," but never weave-checked. My family, friends, co-workers, etc. know better than to stick their hands in my head....:boxing::clubu:

I do frequently get asked this, as well as if I'm mixed or whatever similar term...despite the fact that I look like a typical bw, oh well.

I also have been asked where I buy my hair, but that has only been since being in Florida...seems to be a common question here...weird. People here think I have some kind of fancy Hollywood weave, with the good hurr...LOL! I know most times it is a compliment and that is fine...just don't TOUCH me/my hair!!!

A little older lady at my church pretended she wanted to tell me something and gave my hair a yank, she did it two different times. I take it as a compliment, a painful compliment.

My mother in law and sister in law ask me every time I wear my hair straight, curly, braid out, etc... "Is that all your hair?". They ask this every time without fail, and I always give them the same answer. I never get hands in my head or anything, just the question. I just come to expect it.

I am close to WL texlaxed, and I've never be weave-checked, (as far as I know...some people are so sneaky). I seldom wear my hair out totally straight, and when I rolleret, it looks like a "pressed natural," so people tend to assume that I'm natural and that the hair is all mine.

Most of the ppl in school knew that my hair was real so I didn't get asked unless I had a style in. Braids, curls, flat twists, fancy buns... that's when I got the weave questions.

I got the questions when I wore braidouts with my relaxed hair. If I know the person I'll let them touch my hair
