I was awaiting the show and im so proud of her. She's one of the few stars taht actually see her in the real.........real hair.untouched photos........no makeup................BUT I DIDNT LIKE HER STYLIST SAYING U HAVE TO CUT YOUR HAIR TO LET IT GROW:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:. ANYWAYS WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT THE SHOW?
 
I didn't like him saying that also! You know when some people are taught some things in school they never want to let it go.

Her hair looks surprisingly thick! Her ends kinda look dry but I'm still kinda loving her hair

:cry3: I wish I had my own professional stylist to follow my hair around were ever I go... sometimes..
 
One Good Thing he did say was about the Damage that can result from Double-Processing.:look:

I know that was one of my biggest Salon Downfalls getting a Relaxer & Color during the same service.:rolleyes:

But Now, that I am a DIY, I have opted for Henna/Indigo a week to two weeks after Relaxing and my Hair Has Thanked Me For It.:yep:
 
Her hair looks thick and healthy, I still cant wait for the youtube link though.
 
It looked healthy and was surprisingly thick once it was blown dry. I also really liked the curly style he did. This episode is making me want to wear my real hair!

Just wondering, when she got out the shower her hair was already super straight - do you think she has BKT - it seemed too straight to be relaxed. I'm tempted to end my stretch today and relax (am doing my usual 16 wks, have 2 more left!).
 
i just surpeissed shes not looking like miss cambell ............missing a hairline.......i feel sorry for the poor child
 
Her hair looks nice, but someone on the other thread questioned why she came out with it wet. I figured she probably just got a perm right before and washed it out. Her hair does look nice and I think she should continue to wear it out. Good job Tyra, hopefully others will follow suit!
 
I just wonder how long she's gonna keep it up was this just a 1 time thing to get ratings? Big time celebs like her can really change a womens perspective about their hair and what's socially accepted

OMG :lachen: that was too funny and the ironic thing is that my mom had just finished relaxing my hair and started telling me that I needed to cut it right before Tyra's stylist cut 3 inches off her hair :perplexed. Tyra's hair didn't look all that bad to me it looked thicker than the ends of my hair so I don't see why he felt the need to cut 3 inches, that ticked me off, and made me glad I don't go to a stylist. So I told my mom that if she found any split ends I would let her cut (an inch :rolleyes:), She looked and looked and didn't find any splits so she let me go on about my business :lachen:
 
I think her real hair looks really pretty. I was surprised to see how healthy it was. I thought it was a good show.
 
Good for her! Her hair looks nice. I thought she would be natural too.

For all we know, she may be wanting to show off her hair because it hasn't been this healthy and long in years, even if it is relaxed.

Her and Oprah may have just jumped on the haircare bandwagon not too long ago, just like many of us here and just want to show thier progress, because that's no more than 3 years worth of hair on her hair.

Even thought they're celebs, they're still black women and probably have the same hair issues as we do.

Is it just me or is there something coyly duplicitous about telling women to embrace their full bodies and natural hair.....but then doing a big promotion to reveal your 20lbs thinner body and freshly permed hair? :spinning:

i cant put my finger on it but there's a double talk with Tyra that makes me smirk :rolleyes:

i dont think she could personally stand to be thick, nappy or any of the other things she tells girls to be.

and its not to say she should...but it seems the harder she tells women to be one way and laugh in the face of beauty standards....the harder she seems to run in the direction OF those very standards themselves in order not to be personally attacked.

so in essence she's sipping on the same Koolaid they are :guiness:

but cleverly marketing it as if she isnt.

I think Tyra means well but she needs a therapist couch like nobody's business.

Oh I love this, it just came on here in LA (it's 4pm - however 7pm on the east). I think she'll go back to her wigs because it's obviously keeping it healthy. She's on tv everyday so that's understandable. But it goes to show that, YES, she has hair! And I'm so glad she is adding to the fire the fact that black women can and do have healthy hair that grows - even the ones with wigs and weaves. She needed a trim, but HE CUT OFF TOO MUCH. I would have knocked his arse out. Even Tyra was holding back a sucker punch. She was like BSL before the chop.

I actually don't see a problem with the body portion...if you're more fit after losing 20 pounds or more athletic, then that deserves to be praised as well.

I don't think embracing a "full body" (or any bodytype, for that matter) means not working to lose however many pounds to be more fit or athletic. (EDIT: One of my clients is a plus-size model, but she runs everyday and she's quite fit (I think she's a size 14). If her weight goes up, she does the work to bring it right back down. She's still plus-size, but she keeps fit whether that means running everyday or losing however many pounds when she deems it necessary.)



However, I don't know about the hair portion...I don't really have an opinion. I cannot stand Tyra's buffoonery, but I do respect that she has (from the very beginning of her career) gone where no other celebrity would to help young girls with self-esteem by revealing her "real beauty". She has been doing that since before she was a household name, and I can respect that.

Still, I cannot stand this show, good lord. I actually feel silly (my girlfriend says "dumb") after watching this show.

The show was very educational and showed how woman value their hair, her stylist did say he cut her hair to get rid of the color that was on the ends. CAN you believe the blond girl that paid 2200.00for exstensions....
 
I was thinking the same thing. I was also wondering why her mother would have a child with a black man if she didn't want her child to come out like that. I can't stand when people don't care about the welfare of their children.
 
i actual dont have a problem with her weight loss

altho i do think she shouldnt have said she was revealing natural hair when her hair was actually freshly permed.

Was that her real hair - yes. and it was decent!

But was it her natural hair - no.

and even in the show she kept using the term "natural" instead of real and my heart went out to all those kinky haired young women who thought they were gonna be repped today because of her misuse of the word...and werent.

Like I said...the coyly duplicitous thing about Tyra is something I cant explain or pin down exactly but I feel it. and i think a lot of folks do - which is why even when they like her (as I do) they cant help rolling their eyes a bit. :rolleyes:

She's almost like the pretty girl who over estimates how much you'll be intimidated by her beauty (when in fact u may not be) and then goes out of her way to seem down to earth based on her (ego based) assumption.

Even if her actions are coming from a good place there is a inherent conceit about the initial assumption that can be off putting.

like when she kept basically saying "see how thick it is? i want u to check it to show this thickness is real"

and then kinda lamented about what a hassle it was to deal with such thick luxurious hair.....girl please....:lachen: half the women on LHCF think she actually has fine hair.

im probably still not explaining it right but I know I'm not the only one who senses this.

i dont dislike the woman. just think her sporadic lack of self awareness when her empire is built ON self awareness is a downrigt comical at times.
