I took my weave out this weekend after three months. Here are my progress pics. I decided to try out the Cherry Lola treatment, and ecostyler gel. I'll post those pics later.

It was a little difficult chopping back to APL, but I'm happy that I did because now I'm embarking on my natural hair journey. I'm almost back to BSL too, so it's all good.:yep:

I thought I only need 3" to BSL, but according to these measurements, that's incorrect. I needed 4", and thankfully, I'm about 1" away. From there, I need 3.5" to WL. Thank goodness for my high waist. :lachen:

Just my fro / freshly washed

It was pretty soft.

Definitely heat damage. I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and get rid of it.

I love when you post pics Ediese! Great progress!

I say, don't get rid of the heat damage if it's not causing you any problems. Having uneven hair is really annoying (believe me, I know).

Thanks your progress is great!! I say go ahead and chop the heat damage off, it's just a few little ends, it won't make a big difference as far as the length but it will improve your overall look.

So inspiring as always. I :lovedrool: over your hair. Your progress is amazing. I'm always about health over length so I would say cut the heat damage esp since it doesn't look like it'll mess up your style. Looking forward to your next update.

Nice progress! You'll be at WL in no time :yay:! A bit OT but I also have the exact same amount of inches to go before I'm WL too (3.5" to get to BSL and 4" to WL). I love your curls and you always have pretty texture shots.

Personally, if I were in your shoes I'd wait before cutting the heat damage. WL is my final goal and I'll probably keep chopping back to waist once I make it, so if I had heat damage I know I'd eventually get rid of them any way. Plus, I wouldn't have any regrets about losing length since I'd only be going back to WL anyway. If you think they're hindering your progress or making your hair more difficult to style, get rid of them though.

*drools* Gorgeous! I love your weaves. I think I will be investing in some nice hair and doing weaves instead of braids for the rest of my challenge. Yours always looks so nice and neat till the end.

Thanks!! I think I'll wait then because I don't usually wear wash n gos anyway. I just hate to see the damage. I don't even know when it happened because I don't straighten my hair that much at all. I think I need to steer clear of heat. It's been doing more damage for me rather than good.
We'll both be WL by early next year then! :yep::yep: Oh yea...I'm so excited!!!

Thanks!!! I think I'll ride it out because the damage if I did cut, I'd only have about 2" of natural hair. lol I'm so sick and tired of heat damage. I have some sections at the top of my hair where the roots are curly, the middle is straight and the ends are curly. I think that's probably damaged too.

Love your hair! What was your detangling process after 3 months?

Thank you! I took out the weave on Friday night, and was too lazy to take out the cornrows so I did that Saturday morning. I unbraided all of my hair. Sectioned my hair in half with 4 sections each. I added lustre silk cholesterol to a section, and used a wide tooth comb to detangle. After the wide tooth comb, I used a small tooth comb and then my denman to ensure that all the shed hair was out. After I was finished with each section, I made about 6 big twists, and left the conditioner in my hair for a few hours before I washed.
