I just did a detangle and co-wash with that VO5 Moisture Milk in Strawberries N' Cream and Wow! Is all I have to say! :trampolin I bought it about a week ago and did a quick co-wash, but had no idea it could get me through 17weeks of new growth with ease. Now I ain't gonna lie and say the comb slipped through, but I was expecting to potentially have to cut some knots out of my hair due to the matting. And let me tell you sissors didn't play a part in my detangling at all. I sectioned into smaller sections and tackled it and although I lost a lot in shedding I was okay with it becuase I haven't really done a thourough detangle in a while. So I knew I had some shedded hair up in there.

But I must say that when I rinsed and combed my hair afterwards it almost felt like I had a relaxer. I still had the puffy new growth but I was able to smooth back with ease. All I have to say is you guys have surprised me again! Who would have known such a cheap conditioner would work so well

lol it's funny how people post these raves about the v05 condishes
i havent used it yet and i dont believe it works so well LOL
i guess you have to use it to believe it
it's on my list!

I'm so happy it worked well for you! :yep: It's so great when you can use a cheap product and it works well!

For my hair VO5 actually damaged it... it made my hair feel like straw. I had seen it at the $ store, picked up 3 bottles cuz I'd read all the rave reviews... it was hands down the WORST thing I have ever had on my head. :nono: My hair really felt like straw and it took several DCs to get it back to normal. :nono:

So I'm happy that it works great for you, but I did want to post that warning for others that usually with VO5 you either :love4: it or :hot: it.

Nice!!!

I haven't tried V05 Moisture Milk Strawberries and Cream yet... we don't have it here in the UK. Tried Alberto Balsam Strawberries and Cream but didn't like it :-( That's what we have here in the UK (same manufacturers I think)... maybe I'll try v05 when next I'm in the US.

Good to see you're going strong with your stretch :-)

I love it!!! I've used it a few times no, and my hair is better for it. A lot more moisturized.

Funny that you mention the straw feeling effect LadyPaniolo, because last time I used it ... I felt like it not only moisturized, but also strengthened my hair (it was still very soft tho'). I wonder what ingredient is responsible for this, seeing as it doesn't have any protein - ETA: I lie, it has soymilk, so maybe that's it???

I just used some pink V05 for a deep conditioning pre wash because I use a ton of conditioner so I need something cheap, it doesnt have cones, it smells nice, it works so its a staple for me. I always buy at least 2 bottles. I use the full bottles to kill mosquitoes too :look:

This is exactly what I have. I think it's the exact same thing as the V05 one - same company if I'm not mistaken. The ingredients are:

Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearalkonium Chloride, Centrimonium Chloride, Glyceryl Stearate. DMD Hydantoin, Disodium EDTA, Polysorbate 20, Propylene Glycol, Stearyl Alcohol, Steareth-21, Tocopheryl Acetate, Soymilk, Panthenol, Ascorbic Acid, Fragaria Vesca (Strawberry) Leaf Extract, Niacinamide, Biotin, Fragrance (Parfum), Red 33 (CI 17200).

Can someone post up the ingredients or confirm if the above is different from version that says VO5?

Yeh, I was just making the correction as you posted. It contains some level of protein ... still not sure if that's what's responsible for the effect tho'.

I don't think the soymilk is causing the problem for some people. First, it's pretty far down on the ingredient list so there's probably not that much of it. Second, milk proteins aren't really hardcore proteins and I know I've seen soy protein compared to wheat protein, which has moisturizing properties (along with strengthening). Third, the protein molecules of soymilk are too large to penetrate the hair shaft. For it to be effective it would have to be hydrolyzed.

I realize that for a protein to penetrate it usually must be hydrolized, but I also think that even if a protein doesn't penetrate, it can still cause hardening from it coating the shaft. For example, it's usually said that protein from an egg protein cannot penetrate, but it still causes the straw-like feel for some people.

It's interesting how we classify hardcore and not so hardcore proteins ... Some people consider egg hardcore protein, but it's definately light on my hair. It would be quite interesting if someone could maybe post up some sort of index or table showing the affinity of the different proteins to Keratin. Where are all the chemists at???

I've only tried co-washing twice and the first time was a bust with another conditioner. So I tried it with this VO5 strawberries and cream and my hair felt GREAT :yep: and I remember thinking, I can't wait to co-wash again!

However, the next day or so it itched my scalp something horrible. Don't know if it's just co-washing itself or the conditioner. I'm pretty sure I rinsed good but my hair was happy but my scalp, not so much.:nono: I did put some Cantu Shea Butter in for a twist-out right after that so it could have been that too.

But I'm gonna try it again and do an extra heavy duty rinse without the Cantu to be sure. I really did love the way my hair felt.:yep:
