yep. its my home spa treatment. i'm so much nicer afterwards. :lol:

today, though....i had to rollerset my hair 'cause i was headed to an event, and by the time i was done detangling my new growth, my arms were so friggin' tired, and i was thinking, "bump this spa day mess!".

the results were worth it...

I've noticed that whenever I'm having a horrible day, stressed, tired, ready to pull out my hair..... All I need to do is get in the shower and let that water hit my scalp, and all of my troubles melt away. Sitting under the dryer with my hair slathered in conditioner is so relaxing for me. I love it :love3: I guess it's my little time to escape and have some "me" time :)

:yep::yep::yep:

I think sometimes I wash it more than I should because of this though.:look:

Washing my hair is the first thing I do to help pull me out of having a bad mood. My boyfriend alreadys knows....when I come home sad or upset, he sends me straight into the shower :lol:

I do love washing more than conditioning. Washing just puts me in another state of mind...aaahhh! (sighs) But I tell what's even more soothing, is when my man washes it for me. I guess it's relaxing for him too! lol :grin:

Sometimes it can be for me. It depends on what and how much I'm doing to it. Washing, conditioning and sitting under the dryer always feel nice. Styling is more of a chore to me though and I don't really enjoy that as much.

When I was bone-laxed it was an awful chore. Now that I'm natural it is. While texlaxed it was quite pleasant to spend time tending to it as well. I'm going to make an effort to keep this attitude two feet of afro from now no matter how long it takes for me to detangle!

when i was natural, yes. i looked forward to anything to do with my hair. everything was so easy for me as a natural! much easier than people made it seem. now that i'm relaxed and transitioning, hell no! i hate doing my hair! i dread wash day, and i'm so ready for it to be gone.

I don't do it anymore but years ago when I relaxed my hair my ex-fiancee could always tell when he messed up or I was just not in a good mood because he'd call me and I would be moisturizing my hair. I did it enough that once when we were out of town he walked into the room and saw me with a brush in my hand and the first thing he said was "uh-oh what did I do?" lol

Oh yes! Definitely therapeutic! After a stressful day at work, all I do is fantasize about feeling a big, thick gob of conditioner all over my hair and scalp. Deep conditoning my hair is therapy :)

Definitely. Whenever I'm stressed out or my day has been bad, doing my hair always makes me feel better. For some reason, I can think things through better when I'm doing my hair. It's like it calms me down and allows me to think rationally about things.

I love playing in my coils, but when I'm in a meeting or studying something, ie thinking, I will twist/untwist my hair or find something else to do with it. I don't like detangling, but everything before and after is heavenly. I also like thinking about the next style :love:

It's very therapeutic for me. I love when I do the full deal every Friday and Saturday, and anytime I get to co-wash throughout the week is a bonus!

Not so much therapeutic as symbolic. For me it symbolizes taking control of my health, my body, and my looks. I get a sense of empowerment out of the idea that I've set a goal (healthy, strong, break free, BSL hair) and I KNOW I can meet it. I see it happening every day when I look in the mirror.

Yes...I have looked forward to today so I can DC it and braid it up for a few weeks. I get antsy when I can't cowash...I thought it was linked to me being paranoid my hair is drying out, but the showerhead massaging my scalp just makes me so CALM. I'm about to cherish my time with this Aussie Moist!

Amen and I say Amen again. When I have a stoopid ruff day i cannot wait to get home and wash and deep conditioner my hair. I think I appreciate mixing & concocting formulas the best. I now understand moisture vs protein and I feel so empowered. I think of it as all those years I put my hair in someone else's hands. Doing for self is growth... and a half

Em, ok, :look:... looks like I'm in the minority. For me, its a chore!

You are not alone :nono::nono::nono:

Hmm not so much! :nono: I would rather you shoot me in both knees then make me run a marathon!!

Although I'm very happy after my hair is done, therapy for me is a hot bath while drinking a white russian w/candles flickering around me and Marvin Gaye playing in the background.

If I'm still wound up a back and foot massage are also required.

Nope not at all. It's a chore. It's the reason I think about buzz cutting it all off again, but then I remember all the progress I've made. I get too tired when I do it, so it's not something I look forward to, however I do like the progress I've made and I still love my hair. I just hate that it takes a million hours to untangle, wash, dc, etc.

.yes, yes&&YES
.today was a HORRIBLE day && it just so happened to be my DC day, so i slapped on some silicon mix&&aussie 3 min deep...sat under the dryer for about 30 mins...washed out and air dried with my single roller and i felt soooo much better!
.today was one of those days where i was def. loving it!

Sometimes, usually when I'm having a full wash day (DC'ing, conditioning, dentagling etc). More often than not, it is not that kind of experience though.

I consider doing my hair to be very relaxing, and pampering, like going to a spa. It helps to take my mind off of other things that are going on in the world.

Not really. Washing my hair has turned into a therapeutic experience, but it's not something regularly like that. There have been a few times where I was having a stressful day and then I washed my hair and afterward was kind of like MMMMRELAXED!!! But there have been plenty of other times where I am just so grumpy or debbie downer I don't even want to touch my hair or any other beauty product. It depends. I do generally enjoy doing my hair, though, overall........especially washing it. Probably the highlight.
