I heard the bands are great and b/c of resistance may provide leaner muscle than weights... from experience weights give me faster results but i think its different for everyone...
I am workin out when I get home to my treadmill! I have to, i had a $5 footlong with cold cuts and all the veggies but it was still alot at once...

So far I've only pulled weeds and swept off the front porch...but it was HOT out today so I know I got my blood flowing. Since Im going to my parents house tonight I might walk on the tread mile for 30 minutes.

turns out today was a break day...
im on the way to may grandparents time share, they have a great gym there so we'll see whats up with tomorrow...
i'm about to wash my roots with shea moisture shea butter shampoo
CHECK THESE INGREDIENTS!
shea butter, deionized water, sodium laurel sulfate, glycol sterate, aloe vera, herbal extracts, pro-vitamin b-5, wheat germ oil, vitamin e
very nice... i will post how it goes
but i'm leaving the twists in till i get my curls whipped cream stuff... Got it on amazon!!!! I'M STOKED!!! OMG!
tomorrow i will be excited to get on the time shares' sweet treadmill rather than mine from the 90s, and lift in their weight room... that will be sweeeeeet
I'm still on day 3, 27 more to go!

I got a new protective style today. My mother cornrowed the back of my hair and I put it all in a bun. I love it.

I went to the gym today and burned 500 calories in 30 minutes on the Cross Ramp. Ladies if you go to the gym you really should try this machine. I burn just as many calories on this as I do on the treadmill.

I also did squats, bicep curls, tricep ext.,dumbell bench, leg ext., and hip abd.,add.

It was a great workout. I had to do a lot because this was my only day at the gym this week. I have just been taking my baby for walks this week.

I have been eating Progressos 0 or 1 point soup (only 60 calories). I also had a protein shake today. I plan to spend a lot of time in the gym next week though.

I am really excited about my new protective style though. I plan to use it long term. I am hoping to get to APL with it. Its very low manipulation.

I would also like to add that I am joining this challenge for protective styling and excersice I dont plan to use heat or relax at all.

good job ladies!
I am on vacation so I'm having a hard time upsdating cuz wifi is not free here... wtf
well anyways, yesterday was day 4... I was a trooper... the car had no ac and we were in va so there was traffic and craziness... I was so carsick and cranky...
but I got right on the treadmill when I got to the timeshare and did my walk jog, brought me right back to neutral...
ill be trying that in the future when I get nauseous that was great
and I had a egg/turkey bacon/ turkey sausage/ cheese sandwich for breakfast and spaghetti for dinner
today I haven't done anything yet ill keep u posted... and I think monday is progress pic day for me but its only been a week so maybe I should spread them out more... we'll see

Ok currently I'm on my berry in line for the big bad wolf at busch gardens... Nobody go here btw they play games... They make u buy lockers and it costs 60 to get in... 6 flags in md is like 2 for 25 lol
But anyways yesterday I played tennis for an hour... I can't remember which day that was for me, but I am contemplating counting today at the theme park as a day... All this walking uphill is KILLING ME lol.

Sunday, I went to the track.

I ran eight 100m sprints. I was going to do lunges, but I was dog tired after that. LOL. My protective style is working great for me. All I have to do is pin up the top and go. I have been keeping my ends moisturized. I also make sure to moisturize before and after my workouts to combat the dryness from sweat.

I am making an effort to get more protein in my diet.
Today I had a protein shake, sushi, and grilled chicken. I just need to step my water game back up.

I ran track in college, so I just try to keep it up the best I can. I enjoy sprinting much better than just running long distance and jogging. I get the workout done a lot faster...LOL.

Yes, I love sushi too. It is packed with protein. There is 7 grams of protein in each Calfornia roll. This is awesome considering they are so low in calories.
I am going to the track later today so I am going to try to do that same workout.

You are a beast for the tennis. That wears me out! It is great cardio though.

I love tennis, I want to play today but I rolled my stinkin ankle!!!!
I'm gonna ice today and then do 3 days in a row for 7,8,9...
I was 7 lbs less than 2 weeks ago when I weighed myself this morning...
I'm debating on puttin up a progress pic now or at the end... The end may frustrate me less LOL

Sorry I havent posted in awhile. I went out of town for a couple of days and slacked on the workouts...haha!!! I just finished running four miles and doing a circut of abs, squats, and pushups. I plan on keeping up with the four miles until Sunday and then go to the park to run five to six. I started juicing Monday...yeppie!!! I always feel so much better when Im juicing. I put my recipes in my fotki so check them out. I am also on a no chip challenge this month. Eveyone knows at work so they are trying hard not to eat them around me....haha!!!!
Tonight Im making chicken stir fry with wheat pita bread and I just finished juicing for the day. Hair is twisted up and plan on keeping them twisted until next Monday when Im off.

Girl I need to get on your program. I cant wait until I move back home and am closer to a gym. I challenge myself so much more when Im in the gym. Great workout plan sister

@ MBS- I need to jump on those abs with you. I am always trying to avoid them. Also you mentioned progress pics. I need to buckle down on the weight loss. I have been trying to take in protein every time I eat, but I need to be counting those calories...LOL Congrats on your weight loss!

@ Bablou- I love the gym. I get there when I can. If not I am at the track. I just try to do something everyday. Even if I just walk a few miles. Your four mile run and circuit sounds great!!!! LOL @ your no chip challenge. Yeah, they can be addictive because they are just so easy to grab and munch on. Befor you know it you are half way through the bag..:lick:

Yesterday, I jogged one mile to warm up for my sprints. I did nine 100m sprints which is more than I did the other day. I was trying to go hard on the last three so I was very tired walking home. I still havent been to the gym this week, but I plan to get there tomorrow. My gym goal is to squat heavy once a week. That is my main reason for going. Everything else is a plus. I have been drinking more water. So I am hoping to keep that up so I dont cramp at the track.

My hair is still holding up good. I hoping to get through the weekend and another week like this. I was debating washing it this weekend. I think I will just do a cowash after I workout. I am recovering from a moisture overload so I dont want to DC again for at least another week.

WHY IN THE H3LL ARE YOU LOSING 30LBS?!? I SHOULD STAB YOU!

Maintaining a$$ and boobs are a must. I'd stay 20lb at MOST!

Dirty Thirty Challenge

This challenge is for people who are trying to grow through protective styles or stretches from relaxer and also sculpt their body through a healthier lifestyle.

Background
I just put myself on twist punishment b/c I was trying too many potions, and on top of that I am huge... So I told myself until I lost weight I was not allowed to do any of my cute wet sets... Especially since when I style my hair I make every effort to avoid sweat of all kinds!:perplexed
Then I told myself, I don't really want to be miserable, so I said when I work out for 30 days (not in a row) then I can wear a style that is not twists for a full week... then after that I will start the 30 days over again...
Considering that I just started exercising +/-5 days a week, it will most likely take me around 6 weeks to get to the point where I am allowed to crank out something sexy with my hair, and hopefully by then I will have lost at least 15 lbs if not more and achieved some kind of growth...

I call this... The Dirty Thirty Challenge... It rhymes... and I consider working out to be a dirty process... so hence... Dirty Thirty
I will be doing the Dirty Thirty until I lose 30 lbs and have reached a HEALTHY BSL. I am currently APL, but my ends are problematic... Soooo...

Here are the rules:

  1. Pick a protective style that will be presentable for life in the real world and also working out. For me twists are good cuz they keep me from having HIH syndrome.
  2. Pick an amount of days you will workout before you heat style/relax your hair again. I will be doing 30 days (not consecutive).
  3. Identify your hair growth goal and your health goal whether it be inches lost, weight gain, weight loss, arm jiggle loss... whatever... I will be doing this until I lose 30 lbs
  4. You may co-wash, DC, or whatever it is that you regularly do with your hair, but NO HEAT!!!!
  5. Your ends must be protected for most of the day. I wear my twists pinned up.
  6. Each work out must be at least 30 mins. long to count!!!
  7. Try not to be weight obsessed, the goal here is to get healthy.
  8. Try to eat healthier! Working out is no good without a healthy diet!
  9. You must still find a way to be your beautiful self! No slum-doggin it to work for this challenge! Protective styling can be beautiful!
  10. Post your goals for this challenge and your progress! Every week I'll do a roll call!
  11. Anyone can join at any time... I'm not gonna close this one... Heck I doubt anyone will even join LOL.
In case there is confusion... you do your 30 (or whatever amount) workouts, then you are allowed to heat style/ relax. That is one cycle... Then you keep going til you reach your goal!

If you would like to join me post here!

Yesterday 8/6

I did the same workout. I jogged a mile and ran nine 100's. I have been doing this workout all week. I plan to work my way up to 200's but for now I am going to stick to this.

***Also, if anyone wants to try 100 meter sprints the best way to do this is to run the straight and walk the curve. This gives you accurate recovery time in between. Also, be sure to stretch really good before running them and work your way up gradually. Ease into it and increase speed on each 100. ***

I have lost 2 pounds this week, so I am doing better than I thought.

I am going to take my daughter for a walk in a few minutes and I plan to hit the gym this evening.

I co washed my hair last night. Looks like I will get through another week, but it is going to start looking a mess by Wednesday. Since my mama is doing the cornrows, I am on her time. That means I better start asking Wednesday, if I want them done by Saturday...lol

So far, today I have had a piece of baked fish. I have a 52 oz water jug. My goal is 1 1/2 of those a day, but I dont push it. I happy if I just drink one.

nice... im bout to go have some water when my tummy calms down... i just had 2 plates of tuna mac and i am lactose intolerant... not smart...
i like the idea of sprint the straights, walk the curves... im always looking for track measuring methods like that...
sweet...
still gotta work out today as long as i dont have a lactose breakdown lol

Girl, I am lactose intolerant too. I know what you mean. I have to use Lactaid for my protein shakes. Yeah I get through those sprints better when I do some walking in between

I am so tired!!!! My legs are sore, but thats all part of it.
I never did walk with my daughter. It was just too hot!
Instead I hit the gym. I walked for 45 minutes with the treadmill on incline. After I did this I was dog tired, but I still had to get my squats in.
I ended up doing biceps standing curls, tricep pull downs. lat pulls, squats, leg ext/curl
hip abb,add.

Now this is ridiculous. I need to find time to get to the gym to do half of this one day and the other half another day. I am going to try to get to the gym twice next week. I am thinking Tuesday and Friday.

This weekend I plan to walk my neighborhood this weekend. I will check in with you guys after I workout on Monday.

i am an absolute laze.....i havent been to the gym once yet and i just bought two products from qhemet :look:

i am so ashamed....:cry3:

but i have high hopes for tomorrow......

girrrl... qhemet got me too, i just got the alma heavy cream full size and the root butter sample... i couldnt resist

ok guys i danced for a full 2 hours last night and i am sore as all get out... and skinny, cuz I only had that macaroni that was giving me a lactose attack LOL... so today I'm sore and I feel lean. Day 8 down, Day 9 here I come...

minor setback...
my stress fracture is starting to ache again... from like 4 years ago...
gtg to the doc to make sure its not broken again :ohwell:

i would go swimming but i just came outta my twists... grr

my x rays havent come back... however...
today i walked for 30 mins with a few sprints in there
then i did abs... my hip widening excercises (thank you lhcf health forum) and now I am stretching!
last nights food was a turkey burger and fries thanks to my SO... how cute he cooked for me
and for breakfast I had honey bunches of oats...
day 10! back on track hopefully permanently if my leg is ok
if its not I may have to start biking or swimming =/

Hmm....music-bnatural..this is a good post. I'm def. joining. Here I go....

1.Pick a protective style- Twists and bunning
2.Pick an amount you will workout before you heat style/relax your hair again. - I'm going to give myself 2 months. August & September....
3.Identify your hair growth goal and your health goal- I want to lose 10-15 lbs and would like for my hair to just be longer than what it is now...considerably longer (unstretched).

How will you keep our progress?

I haven't been successful at any weight loss lately as I have been so busy working and haven't had time to even eat properly, let alone exercise. I will try harder for the next month or so.

How will you keep our progress?

I've been deciding on when to do an all-call for pics... i was gonna do weekly but I felt like that may have been a bit much, i want us to be encouraged instead of finicky lol
(all-call... i'm a teacher... geez lol)...

I think once each person is done with their cycle (mine is 30 workout days, urs is 2 months... everyone is doing one cycle, then they can heat style or relax... and then repeat) and I plan on doing this till i reach my goals...
so each time everyone completes a cycle i think it would be best to post pics...
i'm bout 1/3 of the way there for cycle 1...
then i'm gonna make a photo album (with everyone's permission) of our completed challenge...
and then we can start again

I love the way you mix up your workouts, dancing, tennis, swimming, biking, walking and sprinting. You do so many different things. This is what keeps the workouts exciting and helps many people stay consistent. I think the key for me is to just do something every day, no matter what. I hope you get to feeling better. Be careful with that stress fracture. Also please share that hip widening excersice. I would love to have wider hips...lol. I didnt think it was possible. You also reminded me to do abs. I am going to start today for sure.
I love this challenge so much. I cant thank you enough for starting it. This is such a great idea that will help me meet my hair and body goals at the same time.

This weekend I walked the neighborhood both Saturday and Sunday. I walked pretty far, but I am not sure how many miles. Yesterday I ran half the distance I walked during the weekend and walked the rest of the way. I wish I could have ran the whole distance but I was just too tired.

Today, I went to the track. I did a mile to warm up and ten 100m sprints. I also jogged a lap afterward. YAY!!! I am really stepping it up this week. I plan to do this the whole week and increase again next week if I have it in me. I hope to get to the gym this evening. I would like to start squatting twice a week.

I am setting a goal of 5 pounds for this week. I plan to execute. I am taking in a good balance of protein and veggies. Watching my calories. I know one of the rules is to not be weight obsessed, so I am trying not to think of it that way. I am just doing what I need to do to meet my goals. The excersice takes away the burden of being weight obsessed.

I cowashed my hair. It is still in the style. I plan to shampoo this weekend. I cant wait to take these cornrows out.
