yep and i did them myself i have pics but they are hard copy pics...didnt have a digi cam back then:(
 
i think seneglese twist use straight yaki type hair and kinky uses well kinky
but i could be wrong
feel free to correct me

Nice, I wore shoulder length kinkies last year. I would love to get these.
 
Mstar I never used human hair for twist..ever

you can use regular nappy hair for twisting or synthetic hair

I used a brand called "Sweetie" from the local BSS. If you can't find it, I think any quality kinky braid brand will do. HTH!

I think that's right. I've had senegalese twists before and straighter hair (the one used for regular braid extensions) was used.
 
here are the ones I just took out they were longer than that but I had them cut.

when I had them, I cut my kinky twists to APL....guessing that wouldn't work now since I like to curl the ends and my real hair is APL now (can't be scalding my hair). like others said, they were maybe MBL or WL before i cut them, but now that i am hair anorexic that wouldn't seem too long :lachen:

for everyone who wants to try doing them yourself, PLEASE DO...i have saved at least $1000-2000 by learning to do them myself (i used my sister as a guinea pig). from there i branched out to senegalese twists and box braids...my sister is happy as a clam because she can get her hair redone whenever she needs and mom is happy b/c it is $10 max (cost of two packs of hair).
 
I do my kinky twist all the time now..just got done doing some.. The key to kinky twist is the hair. You have to buy the hair that looks "nappy" and it will look and also feel bulky. Hope I am discribing it right. It almost looks like dreadlocks hair, whenever, I wear them people always think I have locks:grin:. It is super light and only gets heavy when wet. It cost me about $4.99 a pack and I usually use 3 to 4 packs. It is very cost effective because they charge $150 and up to do these in the shop and you can replace and touch up your hair as you like. I say it is definitely a plus knowing how to do these or braid your hair. HTH
 
I love this look and all the lovely porn has me excited to try this style. Has anyone ever done this style with some of your own hair twisted in the front or tried cutting a few inches off on the top layers for a more natural look? I think I would love to install it like a weave and try to blend the extensions with my own hair for a more natural look.
 
I too liked the longer kinky twists and I also made mine waist length and I loved them(pics in my fotki)...the only thing is they were so thick that the ponytail was ridiculous and impossible to put up in a bun. I think next time I may use a different type of hair.
 
I have been wanting this length but always end up with shoulder length twist...I am about to do it myself...

im not loolalooh but i used BSS marley braid, didnt cut in half...ill try to take a pic of the pic with my camera, it may be too blurry though
 
really cute..when i braid my hair i always get this length..usually waist length..I am planning on either yarn braids or maybe this ...I will prolly do it next month some time after the newyr so i can stretch my relaxer a bit longer..

I was just thinking that.

I don't want you to be discouraged from getting this style if you really want it, but please be careful. I had an almost waistlength braided style like this for less than a month and it thinned out my hair badly. It is still very thin in my crown and nape to this day and that was maybe 5 years ago or so. Sorry I know you didn't ask for this type of input, but I hth still.
 
All you self hair braiders are awesome! Would any of you happen to be in the ATL. I will pay you good for the jobs you all do!

I just senegalese twist today because I had never seen kinky twist that long or thin.
