For the past 3 and half years it's been ORS lye Regular...I was with Soft n Beautiful for like 13 years..just cut off those ends...now my hair is all ORS tex-relaxed.

I did notice this relaxer changed the texture of my hair. My hair was straight but when wet it had a pretty crinkly wave pattern. The S & B left me with bone straight hair.

ditto with amwcah, tried Se once and it thinned and underprocessed my hair..a hot mess

That's exactly what I want. Thanks for this response, I will definitely be trying ORS Regular at my next relaxer! :yep:

I just started using Mizani in January of this year and I like it so far. I used Affirm before Mizani and I loved it.

I have tried Silk Elements and ORS....i might be going back to ORS since i'm texlaxing this year.....hmmmmm.....

But i had went back to my Soft & Beautiful...now it comes w/oil to add to the relaxer and my hair comes out so soft....and beautiful.
The only reason i gave up ORS is bc i was trying to bone lax last year. But i might go back to it.

I just self-relaxed on Sunday with the Silk Elements megasilk with shea butter Regular and I love it. I just switched from Phyto (no-lye) to this and i noticed an immediate difference in my hair, strength-wise and moisture-wise and no shedding. I can't believe it's so cheap too...

Right this minute I'm using Elasta QP lye which I love so much that I got the huge tub of it. Dudley's was the first lye relaxer that I ever self relaxed with and I love it too.

Before that I used Optimum no lye for years and years. I tried Dark and Lovely no lye once and hated it, my hair was underprocessed and brittle. I also tried Creme of Nature lye once which was so terrible I only used it once and threw the rest away which is something I NEVER do. Usually if I buy it then I have to suck it up and use it until it's gone.

Those are the only relaxers I have ever tried.

Vitale Life and Body (Lye). Tried Phyto and liked it, but hair started drying. I think my hair responds better to lye.

right now I'm using silk elements mega silk lye relaxer. I'm looking for a better performing relaxer, thought, for this one seems to make my hair feel hard not silky afterwards. I am thinking about Mizanni butter blends, affirm or revlon...not sure yet.

Mizani Butter Blends No-Lye, hate Mizani's maintenance products but I love this relaxer.

During my 13 week stretch, I purchased SE Mild Lye, PhytoSpecific II and AE Linange Shea Butter Lye. I ended up using the AE Shea Butter. I still have the other two although, I know I will not be using the Phyto because it is NoLye.

My stylist uses Nairobi, which my hair loves..

when I self relax, I use ORS regular which I like..

but I really want to try Mizani butter blends...

i just switched to mizani butter blends. i used it for my touch up 3 weeks ago. i love it. it got my hair straight and it didn't burn. of course the woman who applied it was a downright genius.

I went out on a limb and tried Lady Velvet. Loved it! I usually use Affirm Fiber Guard and I like that too but Lady Velvet is so much easier to get. It's worth the drive from FL to AL to get a good batch.:grin:

I tried Mizani regular for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago and I love it. It did burn a lil, but I think it is because I had washed:ohwell: the day before. My hair is straight and it still has bounce. It is the best relaxer I have ever had.

I love the way Mizani makes my hair feels. I used Affirm w/ fiberguard for years but my perms did not look as shiny and bouncy. I have used almost all of the drugstore perms along with Design Essentials which I did not like that much.

I use Dark N Lovely regular. Been using it since November and my hair is now thicker and I've been able to grow out damaged hair and retain length. It seems like a mild relaxer because it doesn't relax bone straight. When my hair is wet it still has some texture to it which results in thicker hair. My hair is coarse and resistant to relaxers. However it takes me 25-28 minutes to self relax my hair. So, I think the combination of my hair being resistant, me being slow, and the relaxer not being too strong results in stronger, thicker hair for me.

Mizani butter blends sensitive scalp no-lye... lye really does tear into my scalp way to quickly. This perm is fairly gentle on my hair.

Optimum Multi-mineral Reduced PH Creme Relaxer (Lye)
in either Mild or Regular. I use the whole system (steps 1-4). Tried Silk Elements Lye in March, but it got my hair bone straight too easily and I prefer a texlaxed look. Been using the Optimum for about 4 years.

I've been using Precise since I get out of high school and it works really well on my hair. I use the original version since there are only two types original and super. It leaves my hair feeling soft and i've never gotten burned by it. It can only be found in sally's BSS

I'm using the whole Affirm Fiberguard Sensitive Scalp No Lye system. I love the results I get. I like the results I get. It is very gentle. I can get my hair texlaxed each time just like I like it. My hair feels soft and strong and it never burns.

I agree..I use to use DNL and I started using the Mizani BB then Linange Shea Butter but, I think my hair was at it's best w/ the DNL. It just didn't last long - maybe 3 weeks and my hair looked like it needed a perm really bad!

right now I'm using the Linange and while I like the texlax look it leaves me w/ the scabs from burning every time. I have a new jar but, I may have to find something else..and..I coat my scalp first and before I'm done I'm on fire, even if someone else relax my hair.

I second the above. This is the same relaxer I use as well, I've been using it for at least 8 years now I tried to switch to ORS lye and had shedding for days. So I went back to my ole faithful.

Guess I'm lucky because here in NYC you can find Precise at any of your local beauty supply stores.

I will never switch out on Soft & Beautiful Ultimate Protection No-Lye relaxer ever again. About 6 months ago I relaxed with Soft & Beautiful Botanicals, and I HATED it. Left my hair under processed, yet burned the heck out of my scalp. I bought it because it was cheaper and made by the same company. I've also tried ORS No-Lye (Made my hair bone straight and burned the heck out of my scalp), Gentle Treatment (Burned my scalp severely), Dark & Lovely's relaxer in the purple box (Made my hair feel dry and crunchy for a hot minute). It seems like the only relaxer that gets my hair the desired straightness, leaves it feeling soft, and doesn't burn up my scalp is S&B Ultimate Protection. I don't want to experiment with any new ones anymore. My scalp has already taken enough beatings :nono:. Runner-up goes to Just For Me (which is also made by S&B). It's a bit weaker, IMO, than the Ultimate Protection, but it doesn't burn and works pretty well.
