I'm still on that Silk Elements Mild Lye Relaxer. I've been using it for about 4 years now...I think it's awesome! It never causes me any irritation and I never end up overprocessing my hair. The Mild strength allows me enough time to get to all of my NG.

For the past 3 and half years it's been ORS lye Regular...I was with Soft n Beautiful for like 13 years..just cut off those ends...now my hair is all ORS tex-relaxed.

I did notice this relaxer changed the texture of my hair. My hair was straight but when wet it had a pretty crinkly wave pattern. The S & B left me with bone straight hair.

I been using Just For Me ( kiddie perm) since I was ten years old. I tried adult perm once and it was just to strong for me. My scalp bothered me up to two weeks afterwards . From there I learned if it ain't broke don't fix it .

I use Phytospecific index 2 and have done so for about six years or so. The only way I would change is if Phtyo stopped making it. With the information and tips I've acquired from the ladies here, I don't have breakage from relaxing.

I googled them today. It was like a 'duh' moment. 3 types of relaxers? I thought that was the norm. I was getting excited for basically nothing :

This may be a question that has been asked before, but I honestly do not know..Is NO-Lye better then Lye or vice versa and why?

No-lyes get hair straighter and quicker but you can correct underprocessing with lye only (for safe results). Lithium hydroxide relaxers leave the hair the straightest and dryest. I would just suggest that people not mix in between the two.

My last 3 retouches have been with Hawaiian Silky No Base (Lye) Mild. I have used this brand off and on for years...its old faithful. It's like an old lover you can't shake.

I bought Silk Elements Lye Mild last night because I've been dying to try it for a year now...I've heard it doesn't burn as much as other relaxers (and HS does burn a bit) so I'm excited to see if that's true.

I got a touchup yesterday with Silk Elements Megasilk Regular. It burned me like crazy erplexed. My 2 previous relaxers, I used Mizani Butter Blend Regular and I hardly got any burns. I was trying to save a few bucks, but I found out that SE doesn't work for my sensitive scalp, despite me basing it the day before. I'm going back to Mizani Butter Blend for my next relaxer and sticking to it!

I am not surprised. Sunsilk had been sold in other countries for years under another name. I think Sedal. Which still exist but I think there was a thread or two about the two brands a while back.

And Sunsilk also has the lines that they don't sell in the US, like the black one, for black hair which I think they sell in Asia or somewhere. Something like that.

I just recall the Sunsilk line with tentacles that reach all over the world with all kinds of products.

Surprised that you see here though. I would be interested in the ingredients.

Same here. I had 2 retouches with Mizani BB and my hair was literally like butter. I needed a retouch before the holidays and self-relaxed with Hawaiian Silky because I wanted to save a few bucks. Big mistake! My hair instantly turned hard and course as soon as I rinsed the relaxer out. Needless to say I will be relaxing with Mizani BB next time with my stylist.

My current stylist uses Affirm Fibergaurd (normal) I have a sensitive scalp and burned everytime before using this relaxer. I can sit now and my hair always turns out great. I still have texture when its wet and its not limp and stringy! love it!

My stylist has been using Design Essentials on me for a little over a year and I love it. Prior to that, he used Affirm and Revlon and I liked them as well, but I'm sold on DE.

I voted for Mizani BB lye (mild strength) but I also use Design Essentials lye (regular strength because I can't find the mild one). I have been using the DE relaxer for about 8-9 months and the Mizani BB I used as my last realxer and I have to admit I have 2 favorite relaxers. I like them both equally. I find that I have to add oils and silk amino acids to my DE relaxer to dilute it a little to avoid getting bone straight results.

I use Motions Lye Relaxer Mild or Regular, right now regular. I have been using this off an on (Mostly on) for damn since I was 17. Now I am 31. So you do the math, that isn't my subject of course. I love it, I can go upto 6 months relaxer free! Yet, I am relaxing every 4 months for ease. 6 month if I am wearing lots of protective styles. I love my MOTIONS!

I have been using ORS olive oil lye to texlax the last 2 times. I like the way it straightens but I have noticed more of an itchy scalp since using it (and I base my scalp). I think my hair doesn't like olive oil but loves coconut oil. I plan t switch to Silk Elements if I can ever find it.

Before I was natural I was using Hawaiian Silky. My stylist used Design Essentials once and I loved it. I was natural for almost 5 years and went back to relaxing just last September in which I used Hawaiian Silky regular again. I used it twice and it was nothing like it was before. My hair was dry and after like 2 weeks it didn't seem like I had a relaxer at all and I stretch for 8 weeks. I tried ORS super for my 3rd relaxer (2/12) and I have fell in love! I think I will be using this from now on.
