Eggs in your hair.....

Is it best to put egg, conditioner and oil on wet or dry hair? Heat, no heat? If no heat would it be necessary to deep conditioner?

I used to do this a lot but I don't like doing it in the cold months because I need warm water to wash.

I stopped conditioning with it and started eating them... raw.

Hm… I did the eggs thing in my hair this morning (2 eggs beaten and mixed with Africa’s Best Organics Hair Mayo) and it didn’t work out so well. Applied the mixture as a pre-poo and left it on for ½ hour, then rinsed, then conditioned with Keracare Humecto (for 10 min, as was in a hurry). The egg scrambled in my hair and I had the hardest time taking all the little pieces out. My hair was a bit hard but the conditioner and leave-in conditioner afterwards made it soft again. My hair is drying in a bun so I cant really tell if it is shiny or anything, will see tonight.

My mum used to wash her hair with eggs all the time when I was little and it made her hair very shiny and bouncy… But she has Caucasian hair (not sure what type hers would be) so it is a completely different structure to mine and reacts very differently to things.

Being hurried may have been the problem. Eggs and Olive oil may have been a much better combination....

Eggs and Mayo would be double protein. That might be a little harsh if you are in any way protein sensitive. And I kinda assume since the eggs scrambled you used heat. I have not tried heat with egg because I thought it would scramble. I would assume like me you were looking for a short cut to a light protein and dc with heat. I have been informed that there is no way around it. If you are going to use egg for protein treatment you cant use heat and you should follow with a moisturizing dc to balance the protein.

This makes my hair hard. My grandmother (whose hair was long type 2) used to do this or mayonnaise as her only hair "treatments". Caused breakage for my type 4.

this wouldn't cause protein overload?

bingo you hit the nail right on the head me and my sister did this like weeks ago and believe me the out come was not good not good at all... good thing we have the forumto correct us we have mad protein overload and we thought we new everything and that it was ok but believe u me your hair doesnt need this much protein let alone to be doing it every week thats a no go probably 1nce every 3 months or so but not weekly thats just asking to be bald

Actually no, I did not use heat. I too assumed that the eggs would scramble from the heat, so i just sat around at room temperature. Maybe my scalp is too warm (:lachen:)?
I dont really know if i am protein sensitive to be honest, i am quite new to taking care of my hair seriously so i have nooo idea. What happens in case of protein overload? Does your hair break?

SamanthaJones67 - I was thinking of giving up on the eggs but now i will give it a crack - literally - (aren't I funny!) and try with olive oil.

:wavey:So how did it work out Pocahontas? I think this might not work for my natural 4 something hair.

Anyone, I did an aphogee 2min two weeks ago after a year of weave (protective stylin). We're supposed to texalax in two weeks. When should I do another dc? How? I bought eggs and mayo, but don't know which to use. Thanks ladies.
