Eggs in your hair.....

Years ago I used to do egg treatments on my hair VERY WEEK without fail. I would mix it in to my deep moisturizing conditioner. I'm going to back to this.

I used to do it weekly, too, and I did it ten days ago and meant to do it this past week as well, but I forgot. Now I have the egg sitting on the top shelf of the fridge so I don't forget to whisk it into my DC on Saturday evening.

My sister does this and her hair is way longer than me. I started doing it a couple of months ago. I try to do it every week but sometimes I just don't have time to leave the eggs in my hair for two hours so I skip it. Our hair can handle that much protein. We only use one egg though (mixed with olive oil and cheapie conditioner)

I used egg one time on my hair mixed with oil and conditioner. My hair was so hard and tangled. It was a mess and even after dcing with a moisturizing conditioner my hair was still a mess. What went wrong?

i LOVE egg on my hair! i love how strong my hair feels afterwards. man i love protein
Me too pookie :lick:

I got an old friend of mine in to it but she hated it. It made her hair hard :ohwell:

so what do you do? do you mix it and apply it on dry hair like a pre poo?
I apply it and mix it on damp hair.

Just make sure that when you wash it out you don't use HOT water because you will end up with scrambled egg in your hair.

Girl, too funny, that was exactly the thread I looked for after a long talk with God. And my oh my does it work. Fantabulous.

Hmm so it does work?? Interesting I want to start doing this how soon did you start noticing a difference in your hair, it can be health or lengthwise it doesn't matter.

This works great and like food grade aloe vera gel, although it is a protein, it leaves my hair strong, soft and moisturized.

:hijacked: Noticed your avatar, Samantha. Is that you? I also went to Catholic school. Seeing your avatar took me back. People always smirk when they find out I went to an all girls' Catholic HS. I'm sure you've heard the jokes.

Anyway, I've wondered about using eggs, too, instead of Aphogee. I may try this.

My Grandmother used to make me do this every 2 weeks when I was 12 and my hair fell out. I did it after I washed, it was only kind of conditioning I did mixed with olive oil and come to think of it my hair was so healthy. I should to get back to this. Now I'm natural now again I'll do what Granny made me do.

I noticed it IMMEDIATELY. I took the plunge and did protein treatment and blow dry with TIGI Superstart heat protectant and coarse first press with Kizure iron and flat iron. Only God could have given me these SUPERLATIVE results.

Now I will tell you Chick, that I am closely monitoring my hair. The minute it doesn't feel as soft, I will cut back accordingly on protein and increase the moisture factor.

Eggs always scramble in my hair....even when I use very cold water! I think my body temp does it.

Eggs also leave me hair stiff and hard.

I did weekly egg treatments for a few weeks. And it did make my hair softer. But after a while it was too soft to the point of easily streeeetching and breaking. Funny, because supposedly that's not what protein is supposed to do. I don't understand. I'll try again another time. But I think I'd like to try again less frequently, maybe once every 3-4 weeks.

Also like Miss Fadu they scrambled easily, even when rinsed with cool water. The better compromise for me was mayonnaise, which is made with oil and eggs.

Oh, one more thing, egg + condish actually makes the best detangler I've ever encountered. 2nd is mayo + condish.

I have been doing this since March after I had a severe moisture overload and needed a way to combat it with whatever I had on hand.

My hair loves it. I eggs in a number of ways to condition... dry hair sometimes, wet hair others, with or without oil or conditioner, etc....

First part: I noticed this too when I first started using them. Now I don't use the yolk, and problem solved.

As for the second, I find not using the eggs straight alleviates this, but of course my hair is also softer or harder depending on whether I really needed the protein, or whether my hair was fine in the first place. :yep:

Yes - I went to catholic school for 13 years. :yep: and - I was a good girl.:yep:

I did this Saturday. I whisked an egg into some Nature's Gate jojoba condish and added some honeyquat, aloe vera, marshmallow root powder and applied to damp shampooed hair. It went and got on my computer and it dried in my hair. I kept it in overnight and the next day when I rinsed, the softness and strength was incredible. Using egg has never made my hair hard, but I thought it would be sleeping in the mixture, but it was actually better than when I just keep it in for an hour or so.
