To Laurend and all of the ladies in this thread, thank you! :)

I remember when I first joined this thread, I looked at all of the beautiful heads of hair and thought to myself, "I hope I can have hair like theirs one day!" Now, two years later my hair is the longest and healthiest it's been since I was a child and that's thanks to all of the advice I learned here on at LHCF!

Here is the hair regimen I've adopted since beginning my hair journey over two years ago.

1. Wash weekly with ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo.
2. Clarify weekly with Suave Clarifying Shampoo.
3. Deep condition weekly with Silicon Mix Conditioner or KeraCare Dry & Itchy Scalp Conditioner.
4. Moisturize daily with KeraCare Conditioning Creme Hairdress.
5. Apply henna to my hair once in a while for extra protein (strength) and color. I use 2 parts henna to 1 part indigo (with a little alma oil & suave conditioner mixed in).
6. Touch-up with ORS Olive Oil No-lye relaxer every 12 weeks.
7. Dusting/trim ONLY when needed - usually every 6 months.

* I rarely use a flat or curling iron on my hair.

* After washing my hair I apply a dime-sized amount of Lacio Lacio leave-in conditioner followed by a dime-sized amount of Biosilk serum (I use the generic version from Sally's) and amla oil or jojoba oil to seal my ends.

* I rollerset my hair weekly and sit under a standing dryer for approximately 50 minutes.

* In order to keep my curls throughout the week, I pincurl each night and sleep with a bonnet on my head. My pillow also has a satin pillowcase just in case. :)

* Occasionally, when I don't feel like applying henna to my hair, I will use ORS Hair Mayo for extra protein.

* I do frequent Dominican salons, but usually only on special occasions. My hair always comes out BEAUTIFUL, but the heat they use is no joke!

I have tried many regimens and many products over the past couple of years, but this one seems to work best for me, so I'm sticking to it! :)

Thanks again for the compliments, ladies! :bighug:

Here is my current regime ladies:

  • I co-wash my hair every night with Pantene Conditioner. I then apply a glycerin/castor oil mix t/o hair and seal ends with shea butter.
  • On Sundays and Wednesdays, I apply a homemade hair mask made from bananas, coconut milk, honey, coconut oil and molasses (I believe that this mask has really helped to loosen up my curls and provided my hair with an amazing sheen). I let this mask sit on my hair for about 2hrs. I then rinse, shampoo hair thoroughly with Creme of Nature detangling shampoo, and clarify with a baking soda/water mix. On damp hair I then apply Pantene leave-in conditioner and my EVOO/coconut oil blend or a castor oil/glycerin blend, and massage my scalp for about 5min. Then apply my hair into chunky twist and sleep on a satin pillowcase. I never tie my hair down with a scarf. I sleep to wild and it NEVER stays on...LOL
  • I normally wear my hair in buns or twist hairstyles. On the week that my hair is in twists, I don't co-wash, but I spritz my hair daily with a rosemary/sage water mix during the day and a black tea mix at night and apply oils to my twists.
  • I also henna once every 6-8wks, although after following CurlyNikki's blog, I am starting to henna more frequently.
I then to tweek my regime a lot. But currently, this is what is working for my hair.

I concur... All of these ladies have :THUD: hair.

Question....
WHAT does ISH do???? I am going to bounce in between the Curlynikki and Foxy LISA look for 2009- so - I would love to know more....

I just got my ISH treatment. It is supposed to give her maximum conditioning and shine. The process seems rather complex though. First you have to wash and partially blowdry your hair. Then apply the ISH treament. With a foil protected flat-iron heated at 220 degrees, clamp the flat iron over the treatment (I guess it works best with heat). Let the hair cool, then rinse and style as usual.
You can also just shampoo hair then apply treatment and sit under the dryer for 5-10 minutes (it says to do this for dry or moderately damaged hair).
Foxxylisa how do you apply it? I'm lazy so I just want to sit under the dryer, but will that give the maximum results?

It provides intense moisture for your hair. It is supposed to last six weeks. I don't think it actually lasts that long though. When I flat iron my hair, my hair is so shiny and silky. Before I blow-dried my hair, the curls were soft and quenched.

I've never tried it that way so I can't say. I apply it with the flat iron like the directions explain. I put mine a little higher than 220. I have a hard time melting the jojoba balls. I think that was b/c I using heavy duty foil at the time. The first time I did it myself. It did take a long time. The second time my sister did it for me, and it went a lot faster. You should try taking really wide pieces (you know, like pieces that are the length of your flat iron). Mine is 1 inch. When I did my sister's hair, I took a wide piece that is about as long as my flat iron plates to speed things up a bit. It only takes about two to three seconds to melt the little balls.

Thanks foxxylisa. I just went and bought a wide flat iron tonight and will do this treatment tomorrow. You are awesome for answering all my questions. Thanks so much.
