I notice A LOT of people claim APL on LHCF
when they really aren't quite there... so... I have this pic of myself
and I want you to decide when I can claim APL...

Of course I have in my head what official APL is,
but I wanted a LHCF consensus.

Can I claim it at 6", 7", 8", 9"... what do you think?

It looks like you're apl but not full apl, you know? it looks like you have natural layers throughout your hair. I'd claim it though. lol

You can't consider it in inches due to everyone's back being different from neck to torso. Now relaxed heads can really see where they stand, but if you're like me and natural, PLEASE. I can pull the hair from the nape and a little higher and it stretches to BSL. But to look at me, I'm barely grazing APL with all of the shrinkage. I say claim it when your hair is as that mark where your hair meets the arm pit. I'd say you can claim it.

(newbie here)
Wouldn't it depend on your height and/or the distance from some point on your scalp to your armpit? Some ppl may have shorter necks (or smaller heads) than others,... maybe?

Yeah... I know that... that's why I asked the question when can I/SouthernTease claim APL.

You're right in pointing that out... some people might think these inches
are universal... they are NOT... I have a very long neck/back... so... these measurements would not work for everybody... they should just pay attention to the Black lines and not so much the inches.

Yep, it says it right there at the top.:ohwell: So I vote 6" where you are now, you can claim it. Thanks for clarifying.

ETA~ I feel once you break the barrirer you can claim it. If everyone waited for ALL of their hair from the top to the nape to claim a length, BSL would be the longest here, in my opinion...

Since you have layers I would say 6" is APL because you longest layer is already there. Your hair is beautiful!!!!

I'd say for you APL is 6" for me its more like 8" either way as soon as it hits that crook at your arm pit i'd claim it.

:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen: You sound like a bridezilla on her wedding day!

Pollzilla! I'd totally be a Bridezilla... I'm the only child... kind of spoiled...
it would fit well. I've said that I don't want bridesmaids... my wedding party will consist of me, me, and me... oh yeah and the groom... I guess

I put 6 down for you but 7 would be for every where else to "catch up". Man my neck/back must be super long I need to be at 10 inches for APL

I thought APL was when you can take the nape of your hair and tuck it right in the crease of your arm pit/shoulder???

I claimed it when I could pull the hair front ways completely underneath the armpit..close my arm over it and still have a residual hair overlapping up from the other side of the back of the shoulder...
like the hair in my siggy that's trailing towards armpit ..taken a year ago
can now go under completely under the armpit
but that's perfectionist me

my hair doesn't look it tho,,,looks more like shoulder :(
ah yes ..the notorious shrinkage

Your longest layer is past APL, so I say claim it proudly!

Man ... the back of your hair really grows fast, doesn't it?

I'm like that too... I want to claim it at 7" but you can see by the poll... I've been outnumbered... they say I can claim it... but I'm still not ready... :nono::nono::nono:

It does grow much much faster or it appears that way.
It could be I am retaining more length back there...
The back is more 3Bish ... the crown is 3C/4Aish and is exposed
to more stuff... so...

I kind of like having the back longer...
I love love love long layers...
I don't think I will ever be all one length...
My Ultimate Goal is to get to Mid back in the back
and full APL length in the front/crown.

layers are sexy.
