I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but NTM hasn't been doing the trick for my short, less than healthy, relaxed hair. I'm patiently doing my regimins to bring my hair back to health but in the meantime I'm not having much luck retaining the moisture for more than about 12-24 hours. Has anyone gone through this and can you suggest any faves aside from NTM. (And yes, I am a blow dryer, for now):ohwell:

QHEMET BIOLOGICS.

Edited to add:
I should be more specific. Her stuff in great. The Burdock root butter cream is very moisturizing. Her Heavy Cream is like magic for NG.

Also you may want to take a look at your conditioning, too. That needs to be on point and be a good base for overall moisture.

I will have to try that. Where I can I find that product? As for my regimin, (keep in mind I'm a newbie) I have decided to roll with CON Detangling Shampoo, Keracare Humecto DC (2xweek), VO5 Smoothie for Cowash 2xweek, and my leave-ins are NTM, Profectve Leave-In and CHI for my blowdrying. How does that sound?:spinning: The result is that my breakage stopped almost instantly (I'm receovering from a MEGA-Protein overload after using The Aphogee 2-Step incorrectly)...but the dryness still remains.

OT: I think I'm supposed to PM you about some tips...I'm not sure if it was you who posted that response...Sorry, it may be someone else. lol

Is the Hawaiian Silky to be used on wet hair after the condiotioning process or on dry hair daily?

Yes, ITA. :yep:

I had the same problem with very dry hair. I tried Qhemet for the first time last week (I ordered the sample kit) and now my hair is so soft. I am in love with the Amla & Olive heavy cream. I just use a little bit and then seal with oil and it stays soft all day even in this cold midwest weather. I can't stop touching my hair.

Thanks to all the ladies who recommended it.

Can you guys go over the moisture an dseal process, I'm a newbie and I'm still trying to understand that step? i would apply that Qhemet product and thatn apply an oil of choice immediately after? Is that on wet hair or dry?

Smiley79, u can also try
S-curl (walmart or walgreens
Proline Softner (walmart or walgreens
Hairveda green tea butter from hairveda.com
Qhemet root burdock butter or the heavy cream or olive/honey Balm

I am sort of a newbie myself, but following the advice of the ladies of the board, I put a small amount of the cream, (either burdock root or amla & olive heavy cream), rub my hands together and then work it through my hair. I then get about a dime size of oil (sometimes castor, sometimes jojoba) in my hand, rub my hands together and then work the oil through my hair.

From what I gather, the oil helps to seal in the moisture of the cream and protect your hair from the outside elements.

If I am wrong, the ladies will correct me.

HTH.

have you tried clarifying then dcing. sometimes when you need to clarify, your hair is not getting moisture and may look and feel dry.

Thanks for responses. The moist/seal process is done while the hair is still wet or not?

Oops, sorry. I do this on dry hair on a daily basis.

I haven't tried Qhemet on wet hair yet.

Updated:

I also seal with castor oil after applying my leave-in on wet hair. My hair dries soft when I do this.

I had the exact same problem.NTM left my hair feeling like straw. So yesterday at the advice of some of the members I bought Hawiian Silky 14 in1 and I must say that today my hair and ends feel amazing. Very soft and moisturized! I put some in my daughters hair too and her hair feels and looks beautiful . Maybe you should give it a go...HTH.

I had the same problem. Using wen cleansing conditioner (you don't use shampoo at all with Wen, but your hair gets very clean) followed by coconut oil, then styling, has solved my dry hair problems. I'm still soft & silky 4-5 days after wash day.

I shampoo with WEN once or twice a week, use a little bit as a leave in, apply coconut oil, then set my hair on rollers. (you would blow dry at this step). The more you use WEN the softer your hair gets.

When its not wash day I moisturize in the morning and in the evening with the coconut oil, and roll it up in soft rollers at night. That's all I do and it has made a world of difference. My hair is so soft and I am retaining length for the first time ever.

Yes siree bob! put some qhemet burdock root on damp hair, steam it in, seal w/ heavy cream, and you're good for days!

Mz.Shug how did you use the Hawaiian Silky? After conditioning, did you apply it on wet hair and then????.....

I've used Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1 Miracle Worker on wet hair, damp hair and dry hair. Works wonderfully any way. It's the best!!!

(and it's cheap :D )

Am I supposed to do that seal thing with oil that I've read in all the posts?

Ojon leave-in glossing cream, is a great moisturizer for relaxed hair. I use this about twice a day and seal with the restorative treatment or castor oil.

Smiley, how often do you blowdry?

To answer your question, you can seal AFTER you moisturize, but it's not mandatory. I don't seal and don't have any problems, just moisturize and go :yep:

I've found that if you're using something that's truly moisturizing, there's no point in sealing. I can go two or three days without remoisturizing while using Hawaiian Silky. I don't wait that long, of course. But I COULD! :lachen:

I have the Hawaiian Silky and I just don't get the results everyone else get. I only use it for my pull back styles b/c it seems to wet for down do's.:ohwell:

I blow dry after every wash or cowash which is about 1-2 times a week. I have short damaged hair for now and have always felt limited as to alternative airdry options.

NTM is crappy as a leave-in. Its so much better as a moisturizer on dry hair. I use Giovanni Direct Leave-In and the NTM as a moisturizer.
