In hair purgatory
ok even though i just cut my hair its still huge. it doesent depoof EVER. it just gets bigger and bigger. i cant even rock a skull cap without massive lumps and the hats in my collection cant even contain the top
 i want to wear hats but i cant find one to fit my watermelon head AND big hurr. I know I'm not the only one right! steer me in the right direction.

Not only do I have big natural hair, I have a big pumpkin head LOL
And then of course I just have to love hats. So I tend to try on MANY hats before one fits me. I have a easier time if I go to Macy's or DSW.

How are you wearing your hair underneath? I am able to fit twists under my hats, (small twists). I love hats too and usually look for big ones that can fit my head. I do have some that used to only fit me when I had braids and let them hang down. Haven't been able to wear them in a long time. Maybe I got me a big head somewhere along the way, coz I don't get why hair+extensions could fit and hair alone cannot.

Im a hat lover too. I hate going to the store and seeing this cute hat and sad cause I know it won't fit me. I have a HUGE head. The hats were already tight before I went natural. So, I crochet hats for the winter to fit my head.

Big hair, big dome checking in . If I plan on wearing my hat all day, I'll simply tie a satin scarf around the top of my head to lay the hair down then put the hat on to conceal it. That way, the top is tame, but it can still bush out from underneath. I do this when I wear two braids as well. It also protects your hair from the fabric if the caps aren't lined.

For regular hats I HAVE TO wear my hair straight. If its not straight there's no way for it to fit. I do have 2 knitted "newspaper boy" hats that I bought at a thrift store for 25 cents ahahaha I wore it the other day under my curls and I thought I was too cool. My 10 yr old daughter laughed at me and said it was ugly, I said "don't laugh at my hat, it cost less than a dollar" she said "that explains everything" LOL I hate sarcastic kids

Ahh Chica, welcome to the big hair, big head club.:lachen: I too have to travel long and far to look for hats, caps, and even large scarves if I want anything to fit on this head with this hair.

I pay dearly if I try to wear something even remotely tight. I will be repaid with a headache from the depths of h e double hockey sticks. :nono:

And the double whammy for me is if I don't wear a scarf under that hat with a band, then my edges will go on strike and start coming out. What is a girl to do? I am an accessory freak. I love my scarves, hats, shawls, etc. etc.

BostonMaria, you are cracking me up girl :lachen:

Big head = Big brain ;)

Don't be afraid to raid the men's department for unisex style hats - their sizes run larger than ours. Also, some boyish styles actually look cuter on us.

I was so inspired by this thread I went to DSW to look at hats. They had all kind of cute hats. I attempted to try two on but it wouldn't fit. It didn't help that I have a big poofy ponytail right now.

Needless to say I walked out of the store empty handed and feeling dejected LOL

:giggle: I did the same thing yesterday in TJ Maxx...this world can be so cold to the big domes. I did find a cute hat that fit @ World Market though, believe it or not!

My head is very normal size but my hair is not. I crochet hats, too. You can also try the ones meant for dreads, to be found in your local afro-centric oils, incense, and books store.
